Cosy double room in beatiful villa, 1 km from historic Siena's wall
Mariachiara was truly a great host. Her contact before and during arrival was great and the location is great as its a short walk to town but in a quiet area. Relaxing atmosphere with a great breakfast and the ability to cook yourself dinner. Would recommend the B&B to anyone visiting the area.
Place was excellent! We had a bit of trouble finding it only because our GPS wasn't working right. Mariachiara was very communicative and friendly and her villa was beautiful! Definitely recommend!
Mariachiara welcomed us in a very beautiful villa near Siena (20 minutes from town, good to know if you don't have a car) , she was very helpful and indicated us all that we had to know about the town and transportation, she even took the time to take us downtown in her car! The room was really nice, we had everything we needed. Thank you very much Mariachiara, and we warmly recommend your B&B!
Unfortunately my boyfriend and I never got to meet Mariachiara but she always seemed very helpful and prompt at getting back to any messages:) The staff that were there were lovely and did their best to make us feel welcome. The villa is gorgeous and very spacious and clean. Parking was a bonus and Mariachiara even allowed us to cook in the kitchen one evening so we had a lovely dinner sitting out in her garden. Just watch out for the Mosquitos!;)
We (my boyfriend and I) stayed 2 nights at Villa Zara in Siena.
It takes about 30 min uphill by foot to reach the city centre of Siena (cathedral).
Our room had no window but a door to a shared conservatory and so there was not very much natural light. Altough my boyfriend is only about 1,80m tall the bed was to short for him. The house is quite clairaudient and so we woke up some time during the night because of other home-coming guests.
There is one big new shared bathroom with shower and toilet for the whole house and so in the mornings and evenings it is uncomfortable to wait a while till the other guests get out of the bathroom.
The breakfast is simple and basic.
The whole atmosphere was like in a Youth Hostel.
Unfortunately we didn´t meet Mariachiara during your stay. Her friend at Villa Zara tried hard to explain different things concerning Siena to us but sadly her English was not very good.
I stayed at Mariachiara's bed & breakfast during Palio. I chose the location because the price was right and the facilities were new. It is worth staying here vs the town center for the clean air, open space, seclusion, and green grounds. And M.C. has a wonderful dog named Asteride. The bathroom and kitchen are new and modern from the inside. Although the house was full, I had no problem sharing the bathroom.
Mariachiara is a great Sicilian hostess. She lays out a big spread for breakfast, including meat and pancakes, which I did not have in any other B&B in Italy. In addition, she picked me up from the train station (~ 3km) from the house, which was very nice. We communicated in English, Spanish and Italian. You will be understood.
The B&B is about a 10-12 minute walk from the Fortezza walls of Siena and about 20 mins on foot from the Saint Dominican church. I traveled by myself and walked to and from the city without much problem. Just follow M.C.'s directions closely to learn the shortcut. I believe that other guests took taxis or drove. There is also a bus stand just on the road.
As you will find across Italy, my bed was twin size. If you are tall, I would recommend a room with a bed for two.
