Interaction with Guests
Either I or Sylvain will do our best to welcome you in person (we both speak English, French, and Mandarin) at the apartment.
This of course depends of our availability (please let us know in advance).
We are otherwise available anytime to answer your questions. We have both been in Taipei for many years, and know a significant amount on all the outdoor places around the city, the restaurants… Sylvain is a big fan of Jazz Manouche.
It's the nicer part of the suburbs with pavement, trees, and nice restaurants. Right across is a big supermarket.
The downstairs Taiwanese restaurant has an amazing hot plate beef dish. Try it!
How to come from the Airport:
Take bus 1968 from the Airport, toward Xindian. Stop at stop No.3 MRT Jingan.
Please note that the apartment is shared with 2 persons who live in Taipei year-long (a Canadian guy and a British woman). I do not live on the premises.
No smoking allowed except on the balcony or the terrace.
Please make sure that anything laying in the house does not belong to the people that live there long term before using it.
On weekdays make sure to keep noise down after midnight.
No smoking indoors
The room was as advertised, clean and good size. The bed is comfy which is great - not like a normal really hard Taiwanese bed. There is a kitchen and washer if you need it which is great. Check in was easy, just told them my arrival time and they showed me the place and taught me how to use the keys. I barely saw the two permanent residents but was woken up by some "adult" noise on the weekend, so if you are a light sleeper maybe bring ear plugs :) Also the washer is right outside thr window so I used ear plugs when they did late night laundry. When I did meet the residents they were very kind and even offered to get me breakfast. I would say this is a good place to stay! Very close to the subway station also, and the subway line is very convenient. The neighbourhood is nice and there is a 7-11 nearby to get what you might need. Thanks!
I actually booked the room a day early by accident, but Edouard was quick to find someone to provide me the keys and had a good explanation on how to get to the apartment, as well as some good recommendations for food nearby.
nice and clean apartment and cozy room, the long-term tenants were really nice and helpful - one of them picked me up from the metro station and showed me everything, i felt welcome from the first minute we met. nice neighbourhood and a quiet place to stay. metro within 5-10 minutes walking distance. I had an awesome time staying in this apartment.
Edouard's business partner Valery was very helpful, friendly and prompt with replying to messages. The description of the property was accurate but from the ad, it wasn't explicit how many people would be sharing with you (four). The neighbourhood was cute, very local Taiwanese. Reasonably close to downtown, Ximen, Da'an, City Hall etc. Also, lugging your baggage up four storeys was, after a long flight, not exactly palatable. For the price, I think it was a good deal!
The hosts (Edouard & Valery) were very friendly and helpful in making my stay in Taipei a pleasant one. They have a really nice apartment complete with a rooftop balcony. I will definitely choose to stay in their apartment on my next visit to Taipei.

Castle in the Sky is a team of locals and foreigners who take over the places they really like in management from their owners, and turn them into gorgeous B&Bs.
There is Ed, a French guy who has been living in Taiwan for the past 6 years and who love nothing more than spending a weekend outside of Taipei, hiking, biking, or anywhere near the east coast.
There is Sylvain, a Taiwanese guy who is crazy about Jazz Manouche, gives music classes in the evening, and will often be in Sapho listening to whoever is coming to town to play.
And finaly there is Shan, the crazy designer, who will work metal, leather, fabric, or in this case the colors and style of the houses to get to her vision of beauty.
