Spacious private room w/ queen bed in a neighborhood of other single family homes. 1 mile from Ballston Metro Station, w/ many new restaurants & bars. DC is 10 min drive/ Metro ride. Reagan Nat'l Airport is 15 min drive.
Front view of the house w/ wrap around porch - perfect for morning coffee or relaxing in the evening.
Our house is a craftsman style with wrap around porch in a nice, safe neighborhood of other single family homes. Street parking is free and readily available.
The room comes with a comfortable queen bed and Wifi access. There is a spacious bathroom just across the hall that is on suite to the other listed room and shared with other AirBnb guests if the second room is occupied.
This listing is for one room with queen size bed, and we have another listing as well for a second bedroom with a queen size bed. So this space would be great not only for a party of one or two, but a family with 1-3 children or two couples as well.
We have lived in the DC area for over 20 years and are happy to recommend places to visit, lesser known areas of interest, and restaurants and bars to try.
Access to large private bathroom w/ shower and tub, fresh towels and toiletries provided. If both rooms are rented then the bathroom is shared with the other guests. It's a large bathroom with two vanities and a shower/tub so sharing is easy. May have use of washer and dryer. Also available for guests' use on the first floor is the sitting room with wood burning fire place, TV area, dining room, and chef's kitchen. Guests may use the front porch, back deck, and gas grill.
Interaction with Guests
We provide a tea and coffee for guests. We love to cook so if guests have similar tastes for dinner time and schedules allow we would be open to sharing a meal or two.
We are 1 block from the Bluemont Junction Bike-Running Trail and W&OD Trail which takes you to the Ballston area (where you may catch the Metro) and then to East to DC, and as far West as Purcellville, VA.
The house is just over 1 mile from the Ballston Metro Station (15 minute walk) and located near three bus lines. Access to I-66 and I-395 is approximately a mile and DC is about a 10 minute drive. Regan National Airport is less than 15 minutes away and once you get on I-66, Dulles Airport is about a 30 minute drive. The Ballston area continues to grow, and currently has many new bars and restaurants along Wilson Blvd, with other great spots close by along the Orange Line corridor in the Clarendon and Courthouse areas.
Other Things to Note
We share our home with a very sweet Irish Wolfhound who loves to make new friends. She is great with anyone, especially kids.
Please let us know if you have any question, as we want to make your stay as comfortable as possible. We don't have too many rules. We just ask that you not smoke in the house. We also do not allow pets. Our Irish Wolfhound satisfies our one pet lifestyle. :-)
Carla's home is gorgeous, clean and in a quiet and safe neighborhood with easy access to DC and Arlington attractions. I have family in the area and would love to stay with Carla and Dan again next time we are in the area. We felt comfortable there.
The stay was really good. The standard of the room and bathroom was top notch. We were free to use the kitchen and had some space to put our groceries in the fridge. Carla and Judah were really nice people with a lot of local and general knowledge that helped us set up the rest of our trip. Full score for this place. Nice and organized.
This was our first time using airbnb and we really loved to stay at this place. The place could not be better and the hosts really made everything so we could have the best time possible during our visit to DC. They even took the time when they could to drive us to the subway station every time they were available. I definitely recommend anyone to stay there. This is how all hosting places should be. Thank you guys for everything.
We had wonderful stay with Carla. The room was very nice, clean, and large. There is enough parking in the area and getting to metro is a about a 15min walk or there is the bus option. Carla and Judah are great hosts and we enjoyed having the opportunity to chat with them. We highly recommend them and could see ourselves staying here again. -rod
The bedroom was clean and welcoming. Carla provided me great directions via bus, metro and taxi to their home. She was also very responsive when I asked for recommendations on restaurants and what public transportation to access. I would definitely stay again. Thank you
Carla and Judah were very welcoming and hospitable hosts! They kept in communication with us upon our arrival and provided great recommendations to restaurants in the area. We enjoyed getting to know them, their precious dog, Maeve, and their neighborhood for the brief period of time we were there.
During our visit, DC was experiencing winter tantrums with temps ranging from -2 to 10 degrees F (with windchill), and Judah was kind enough to offer coffee in the mornings to get us zinged up for the day.
Overall, the room itself was very clean and spacious, had plenty of magazines and local maps for sightseers, and lots of great light from the windows. We absolutely loved our stay in D.C. and will be back again (with fuzzy slippers)!

One of the things my husband and I have in common is a love for travel and an appreciation of different cultures. We also enjoy entertaining friends and family in our home, so joining Airbnb as a host was a natural step for us.
I grew up in the mountains of Western North Carolina and am happy to call the Washington, DC area home. When we are not spending time with family or friends, you will find us training for triathlons (him), dabbling in music or photography (me), or trying out a new recipe (both of us).
