About This Listing
This room features a small covered porch in front overlooking the forest edge and bit across the deep valley to the mountains on the other side. There is one queen bed and one single bed.
Located on the edge of the forest you have privacy and very little noise.
The forest setting allows you the opportunity to view various bird species, both up close, as well as flying high over the valley in front of you. Also the abundance of fruit trees surrounding the rooms attracts (in season) birds, Coatis, and white faced monkeys. (Since we have no animal training background, viewing animals is all based on luck).
Rainbows can also appear in the valley, hence the name.
You can be assured of privacy, not only due to the lack of rooms but also because the rooms are located a minimum of 150 meters from any neighbour and are well below the road level, although some outside noise can be heard depending on the direction of the wind.
Owner is on site and provides maps, local coupons, and info on local activities and things to do and where to shop and eat.
This room features a small covered porch in front overlooking the forest edge and bit across the deep valley to the mountains on the other side. There is one Queen bed and one single bed. A corner unit offers baggage storage and a place to hang clothes. In addition there is a coffee maker with free Monteverde coffee and a small bar refrigerator. Windows with screens.
No rules really just that people staying are fairly independent and clean and respectful of the property and other guests. Owner lives on site and can provide lots of info on local attractions and some discounts as well. You will have a good experience if the weather cooperates.
The place is beautiful. It is not a luxury hotel, but, it is more than adequate. The room is basic, but has all that you will need (coffee maker, small fridge, microwave, hot water, comfortable bed, etc.). Christian and his wife, Hazel, are phenomenal hosts. I was a little nervous about leaving everything unplanned until we (my 8 year old daughter and me) arrived, but, Christian knows the area, knows the companies, knows the tours. He was able to recommend and book everything we wanted to do, often with discounts. They even helped with little things (superglue for my broken camera, how to use the buses, etc). Be sure to get a tour in Monteverde with Christian if you can; he is a wonderful guide. For this price, you can't beat it!
Christian was an amazing host, and the lower room at Rainbow Valley Lodge was incredible for our stay in Monteverde. The view from the room is gorgeous, and we were even lucky enough to have a troup of capuchin monkeys visit our porch on the last morning of our stay! The lodge is a short 2 minute drive / 10 minute walk from Santa Elena "downtown", and was very easy to find when we arrived. Christian is a great guy and arranged all our tours for us ahead of time, plus he gave great suggestions and tips for activities (he was a guide at Monteverde for years, so he really knows his stuff!). Overall we had a great time and can't thank Christian enough for all his help. Definitely would stay at Rainbow Valley again, book it!
The location is just perfect.
We had a room/house for two with a beautiful view over the forests.
The room was really nice with a fridge, a safe, an own balcony and a bathroom with hot water. Christian was so helpful and gave us a short introduction and recommendation of all possible tours. He also booked everything for us.
I definitely recommend this place. We had a great time :)
Christian is a professional guide for Monte Verde reserve and he has very well organized information regarding all the activities around Santa Elena.
The room which I was renting is spacious with a small fridge and a microwave. The view of the valley is spectacular. I took a group tour with Christian and it was rainy in Monte Verde Reserve but the experience was very positive.
Expect some degree of wind in this geographical area therefore dress appropriately.
I had a short interaction with a healthy coatis in my last day and I got very good pictures of him since he was not too shy. I believe that this is a good place to enjoy the diversity of Costa Rica.
Our host, Christian, was very well organized and we were expected. The home is just south of the town of Santa Elena; five or ten minutes walk. Staying here was a lot like being in a really fine hotel. The rooms were clean, well-decorated, generally well laid out. The porch faces out to a great view of the valley and animals are all about at different times of the day.
This is really the best choice for staying in Santa Elena. It's relaxing, conveniently located, has a fantastic view. It's owners are very involved in it's improvement and upkeep. There is secure parking and the landscape is nicely planned and maintained. The rooms are very well built and have all the amenities (i.e. good microwave, coffee maker, dishes and utensils, a small refrigerator). Christian has plans for Rainbow Valley and is very knowledgeable about local activities/happenings. A quick walk downtown to the tourist center gets you a $4 dollar, round trip ride to places like the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Reserve, El Trapiche coffee tour, Hummingbirds, etc. Christian is also able and willing to arrange transport directly from the Lodge and even provides some discounts for some of the tours.
