Interaction with Guests
As much or as little as desired.
It is extremely private on it's one little hog back ridge. There essentially are no neighbors to be seen. The pulse of cars can be heard from the front yard as island traffic travels through. Harpswell is a groovy place with its own cable broadcast station, a mecca for artists and vacation exploring. I like to think it is the universal epicenter for lobsters. Within a 5 minute walk, you can get to the fisherman's dock to buy them.
It's a place to get to by car for sure, or by sea plane if you have one. I'd love to see one pull in the cove.
Don't leave drink rings on the wood, take care of the exotic hard wood features of the place.
The house had the perfect compromise for me and my boyfriend, close enough to the 'things' we wanted to see, and far enough away to be considered remote. Just off of 24, you definitely do hear the street so it's not completely quite. But when you are on the back deck looking out at the water or in the 'front' with a fire going in the fire pit, that didn't even matter! The queen size tempurpedic bed on the top level was great, with new clean linens, the bathroom was fitted with crisp new white towels as well! It definitely could use a good cleaning, but it was fine for us. All in all the house was wonderful, and it was good to us, as was Drew, he was very nice and easy to communicate with throughout our stay. He only was in his work studio 2 days out of our 7 and he let us know when he would be there. We definitely would come back! Great experience all around!
*morses for lobster rolls
*brunswick diner for lobster rolls YUM!
Drew's place was in a lovely location - it was so cool to watch birds and stars from the deck, and see the tide come in over the course of the day. It was close to all of the amazing Harpswell archipelago. The "secret beach" was a real gem, and we wished we'd had timed the tides right to take a paddle in the canoes! Drew was super easy to communicate with and he helped us find some of the best lobster I've ever had. However, the place wasn't as clean as I'm used at an Airbnb, there wasn't a real bed (we slept on a fold out futon just some sheets and a blanket, which wasn't quite enough on a chilly Maine evening), and there's no good couch or chairs for enjoying a book and relaxing at night. At this price, we expected the space to be quite a bit more comfortable.
Thanks for the feedback Diana, glad you enjoyed the core experience. It seems perhaps you missed bed on the top floor (“The Eagle’s Nest”). The sleeper futon is on the mid level. Sofa, sectional sofa and other reading chairs, blankets on the lower level. The style is certainly Downeasterly in flavor. I hear you, it is priced to encourage people to rent for a week or month at time.
When you asked what would be for breakfast, it is specified in listing not serving breakfast, since it is a rental of the entire house. If I was staying there too, for sure I would be happy to list breakfast, take orders and serve it to you.
We had a great time at Drew's place. It was exactly the type of relaxed, rustic and off-the-beaten path place that we were looking for. He was a very gracious host and even gave us some big spray to keep us comfortable in the Maine woods!
