Interaction with Guests
My parents own this property, they are an older couple that lives in the upstairs apartment - but the floor where the available room is has its own entrance, independent from upstairs- anything you need they are very hospitable and welcoming.
There are plenty of restaurants and stores walking distance. When you arrive we have a list of tips on what to do and where to go, in NY and in our town so you can enjoy your trip!
There are many bus lines that take you directly to Manhattan in less than 15 minutes walking distance from the house. You can even take a ferry is you want to enjoy the NYC skyline view and take amazing pics.
Other Things to Note
From the Newark airport, you can take a bus or a $50 cab to the house. From LaGuardia or JFK take a subway to Port Authority (Times Square) and there you take bus 127 - our stop is the 3rd one, super close!
We provide towels and place them in your room. We keep every corner of the apartment spotless clean and we ask you to place your unwanted items in the garbage containers. For stays longer than 2 weeks, we can arrange for you to use the laundry facilities at the property. IMPORTANT: anything outside you room has to remain neat and organized - keep your belonging in your room and keep in mind that the apartment is shared, therefore, you need to keep the visible areas looking pretty so when people pass by don't feel uncomfortable. When you leave, please leave the keys on top of your dinning room area.
We stayed at this beautiful place for a month, and we enjoyed our stay a lot! Cloudya and her mother Blanca were wonderful hosts, so lovely, kind, friendly and helpful. Location is unique - very close to Manhattan Midtown (only 20 minutes by bus, if the traffic is not very busy), and, in a walking distance - a river bank with a spectacular view on Manhattan skyline. The place itself exceeded our expectations - there was everything we needed: very comfortable bed, closet, all essentials, dining area with a fridge, coffee-machine, microvawe and grill, so you can do light cooking. If you look for home-style comfort, friendly environment and appropriate level of privacy - there's no better place. Everything is sooo nice, clean and cozy. I highly recommend this wonderful place for staying! You'll get fantastic impressions, for sure
A nice cozy room!
We stayed 10 days in the first floor of Cloudya's house in NJ, we were welcomed by her mother Blanca, she is very kind and showed us the apartment and gave us useful information about transit, places to eat and places to visit. The apartment was very clean and we had some food basics such as coffee or jam for ourselves.
We were not able to adjust the heater in the basement; the first night when I arrived I couldn't sleep because of the high temperature.
Everything else was fine: convenient location, privacy and affordable price.
Very good option if you plan to stay for about a week o a little more.
My host was great,I recommend New Jersey if you want to see New York City.
I think this is a very good deal, transport is 3 $ to 40 th street ,food is good and at a reasonable price in New Jersey on Bergerline Street.
This is a decent place to stay if you are visiting NYC for a longer period of time. The commute can be a pain as it took me about an hour via public transport every time to get to Statue of Liberty area or to Rockefellar. So I'd recommend staying in Manhattan area close to a metro if you're visiting for a shorter period. I stayed here for a night and moved to Manhattan. My experience from the one night stay: Very comfortable bed, although internet did not work that night. The neighbor's dog is right next to the window and hence kept waking me up. Overall I like the host but this place comes with its negatives. You get what you pay for. So you can decide :)
Hi Vid, its tough if you are commuting to work like you were, because you would be going into the city together with the rest of the metro area residents going to work. We always suggest travelers to avoid peak hours as they can be busy as in ANY cosmopolitan city. Sorry about the dog :/ it comes with the suburbs!
We really enjoyed our stay & would come again. The room was very comfortable and the mini kitchen area had all the essentials (tea, coffee, kettle, microwave, fridge, mini oven). The bathroom had a good shower & was very clean. Our host was lovely and friendly. The journey to/from Manhatten is easy & quick once you work out the buses, but initially a bit confusing. There are $3 mini-buses that go from outside Port Authority as well as the service buses which adds a lot of flexibility. Be aware that a taxi from Manhatten is pricey due to the Lincoln Tunnel toll ($13) plus not many drivers want to do the trip, so buses are really the best option.

I am an international correspondent and since I live 11 months of the year abroad, I decided to rent my apartment in my parents building in order to cover my expenses.
We are originally from Uruguay (South America) and we bought this property a couple of years ago. We have renovated the house completely and it looks new.
We have 2 listings but for some reason this one is not getting the traction that the other one has and I would love to get some help.
