Aldo and his roommate were GREAT! They were very willing to provide suggestions of things to do in the area and provided wonderful recommendations for dining nearby (and in Rome-center).
The room, itself, was quiet and peaceful. We had some of our best night's sleep during our 3-week long trip. The room faced the back courtyard, so we heard virtually no street noise and were able to have lazy mornings. The shutters were also very efficient, so if you're sensitive to light, you'll have no problems, as you can make the room very dark, if you want to. If you like waking up to vast amounts of light in the morning, you can do that, too. The flat, itself, was very clean and spacious, not cramped like many of the other places we stayed in Europe. The bed was comfortable - we had 2 twin beds pushed together, but it was comfortable and we had no problems.
The building was secure and the neighborhood seemed safe. It is conveniently located across the street from a bus stop (2 of the 3 buses that run from that stop will take you to Termini Station, and it is only about 7 minutes from Termini by bus). If you're walking from Termini, it is also very easy to find. Termini seemed to be the main terminus for Rome, as most of the buses, trains, metro and airport shuttles connected from here (take the Terravision shuttle to/from the airport for only 4-6 Euro each way). A couple of blocks away lies the Villa Borghese - a very peaceful park with a few museums. If you walk west across the park, it'll take you straight to the Spanish Steps. Rome is a small city, so from the flat, you can walk to the city center (about 25-30 minutes) or take the bus (1 Euro/70 minutes of transportation - buy a ticket at any of the Tabbachi shops nearby) and you're in the city center within about 10-15 minutes.
There were also small grocers, gelato shops, pastry shops, restaurants and boutique stores in the area immediately surrounding the flat. We had no trouble finding food or anything that we needed.
Overall, a wonderful stay and Aldo was FABULOUS!
Aldo is very smart...
Well, he is very welcoming but the room was noisy and the bed was not for a couple but for individuals ( 2 camp beds were put together).
Aldo said that he will clarify his add and offer another room for the next travellers... we were the 1st one !
