The Space

Welcome to the holiday villas of 'Case di Sicilia'. The two villas are 600 m2. The pool is situated on the front side of villa 1. The pool is 7 by 5 meters. Next to the pool is a carport with on top a well designed lounge area with a bar, constructed in 2010. Both the pool and the lounge area are shared by both villas. The villas have hot and cold water, air conditioning, free use of internet. The villas's are perfectly situated, it's just a five minute walk to the sea. Lovina is situated on the north coast of Bali about 90 km north of the airport (Denpasar), a journey of about three hours by car on the good roads, with many attractions on the way.

East of the villas you will see a large piece of land owned by the royal family of Singaradja. From this side there are views of palm trees and meadows with cows, where you can enjoy the tranquility. The villas are well maintained and are located in the most beautiful street of Lovina. Both local and foreign people live in the street.

Villa 1
This villa is located on the front of the site overlooking the pool. There is a terrace with a dining table and a couch. The ground floor features a large kitchen. The living room (email hidden)e downstairs bedroom has a bathroom with a shower and a toilet. The upstairs bedroom also has its own bathroom with shower and toilet. A second terrace is situated on the first floor.

The housekeeper will take care of the laundry, Washing and cleaning. In the villa, guests can use the kitchen to prepare food or drinks. It is possible to arrange the housekeeper to take care of the breakfast. She can also prepare a simple meal for you. Negotiate about the price with her.

Every day, a driving warung comes by the villas with cheap Balinese fresh food. For a delicious plate of rice and satay you'll pay around 1 euro. At the bakery, at the end of the street, you can buy delicious sandwiches, baguettes and pizzas. Our housekeeper can order products from the supermarket, which they will deliver at the villa's. You can also eat at one of Lovina's many restaurants. There are restaurants with an international cuisine but you will also find local food. The north of Bali offers a lot of excellent facilities and it is not as touristy as the south. Prices in the north are 30% lower compared to the south. In the village there is variety of shops, bars and nightlife.

Restaurant recommandations:
- The Damai Hotel, a world class restaurant with a star kitchen located in the scenery mountain area near Lovina, is recommended. They serve a brunch on sunday.
- Sea breeze, wich is beautifully located at the seaside. They serve good coffee and offer a variety of international food.
Spice Beach Club, Wine and dine at the seaside, new beautiful place.

  • We stayed in the second house in the back for about 2 weeks with our two small kids (1 & 3 years old). The house is spacius and clean. It is well equipped with everything you need. The staff is very friendly, speaks good English and especially the housemaid Kadek loved our kids and took good care of them. The location is nice in a mixed neighbourhood with rented villas and houses with Indonesisian people living in. Just some meters on the other side of the road is a good and cheap Warung serving fresh grilled fish. You can choose your fish out of the catch of the day. About 300m walks on the main road you find Warung Lina with a good and cheap selection of local dishes. A lot of locals eat or take away their food here. There is also a supermarket and a German bakery. The main tourist area of Kalibukbuk (with the Dolphin statue) is about 15min to walk, the beach about 10min. It is helpful to rent a scooter to get around. You can practice in the quiet street in front of the houses before you go on the busy main road. The pool is nice and big enough even when there are guests in both houses.
When you have small kids visit the new water park at Seririt. You can arrange a private car with driver in the neighbourhood. Also snorkeling trips, dolphin tours and other activities can be arranged here. The owner has a car and driver as well but we did not really like the guy.
There are a few cons with the house: At night it was sometimes quite loud. In some nights there were lots of dogs barking and fighting. Also quite some roosters around that start to make noise in the early morning. As the bath room is open there are maybe more insects inside than elsewhere in Bali. The house also misses some kind of manual. For example when you run more than the two air cons in the bed room you have to switch off all other major consumers otherwise it blows out the fuse. It happend to us one night and we did not know why (the warm water boiler was still on...) so we turned off the air con in our bed room.
The owner is friendly and drops by from time to time.

  • The owner had his driver pick us up, such luxury:) The villa is a little paradise in a quiete residential street. Laundry service, daily gardening and pool cleaning is provided, even cooking can be arranged. There's a bakery t the street entrance and restaurants and night warungs nearby and in the street itself there's a mie bakso (noodle soup) cart passing by every day, a little shop for smokes and drinks about 15 mtrs on foot and a little further down the street there's a woman making gado gado and rujak (sweet spicy fruit 'n veggie salad). The owner is quite accomodating and very helpful e.g. responds quickly to one's needs. In short a home like paradise away from home. O 20 mtrs more up the street is the best ikan bakar (grilled fish) you can find in Lovina although a bit rudimentary yet they will deliver to the house.

  • We really enjoyed our stay here and we would definitely stay again! It was so nice to have a private, affordable villa with a pool, near town. We had neighbors in the second villa but we hardly noticed they were there. It worked out that when we wanted to use the pool, they were out and vice versa. Since the second villa is located behind the first one, you don't get a sense that other guests are around.

We stayed in the first villa (closer to the pool). It had plenty of space with a great kitchen (we preferred this layout to the second villa, but both are nice.). The master bedroom was spacious with a huge bed. The pool was lovely. And there is an elevated deck where we practiced yoga.

Boete, the owner, is very friendly. He popped in a few times to check in on us, the property, and to take the car. The people who maintain the house and property are also nice. We didn't get a chance to know them, but they left a good impression.

A few things to consider: The feel of the house is very nice, but it looks a little old. The pool only has two reclining lounge chairs under the umbrella (there are two more chairs that don't recline but that are comfortable, in the sun). The dog Bali is such a sweetheart, but if you have dog allergies you should be prepared for having the dander all around the house (even though she stays outside for the most part).

Thanks for the stay! We hope to come again!
