  • Great house. Fantastic hot tub. Beautiful setting. Well-equipped kitchen and very helpful host. Made our annual trip to the desert an enjoyable time.

  • A wonderful house--perfect and enjoyable for people with children. Everything was lovely. To see the stars and enjoy the hot-tub was a definite highlight! The host cannot be beat for friendliness, kindness, and providing a perfect vacation getaway spot, with all the nice little touches that make a guest feel glad s/he came. :)

  • My husband and I and our 4 young adult kids (with one boyfriend in tow) had a wonderful 3-night stay at the Rock House. We loved the sunsets, the night sky, the well-equipped kitchen, and big dining room table. We spent 2 days in the nearby national park exploring and hiking, and evenings cooking, playing board games, and sitting in the hot tub in the dark. March is a fabulous time to be in the desert. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. I didn't realize that 2 of the 3 bedrooms are loft spaces, so there was only 1 private room and 1 bathroom, but we made it work and were very comfortable anyway. There are plenty of beds and space.

  • Beautiful/quiet setting, polite/helpful/friendly owners, well-equipped, lovely home, beautiful hot tub, plenty of room, great experience!!!

  • Went here for my birthday with several friends. Perfect location in the Joshua Tree area and a gorgeous setting out in the desert. Big lovely house with beds for a lot of people to sleep -- but only one bathroom, so that's a bit of a limiting factor. This place has the most amazing hot tub many of us had ever been in -- cool shape, softly-lit desert foliage, amazing skies. We went in it every night and really enjoyed that aspect of the place. We were fairly aware of the presence of the caretakers (who live on the property, close to the hot tub), so just know that it's not the most private situation ever (though they basically left us alone and were lovely and helpful in any case). The rocks behind the property are a fun place to climb around and a great place to watch the sunset. Overall wonderful home and vacation base.

  • This was one of the best places we have ever rented. It is a magical home in a magical place. Rebecca's family were always there to arrange what we needed ( i.e. hot tub). The property is spectacular. Our son and his family joined us for a couple of days and the property is very kid friendly. Joshua Tree is a wonderful national park and easy to reach from the house. We didnt' want to leave.

  • Rebecca was easy to communicate with and provided lots of helpful information before we arrived though she is not on the property. The house was well maintained and so were the grounds. The hot tub was green for at least one of our two days and the gas fire pit we were so excited about wasn't working. A replacement fireplace was provided in its place. The location was excellent and the boulders behind the property are really fun for climbing. The on site manager, who must be called to heat the hot tub each time, was always around. However, If this is your home base to explore the area it is a great spot.

  • The landscape is absolutely gorgeous. The light in the morning and the evening, actually all day..... is incredible. Rebecca's mom, Cheryl and her brother Nick were consummate hosts! They were very accommodating! You let them know when you want to hot tub or sauna with and they prep it for you. Nick was so kind as to lend our group a game that he had just received for his birthday. The beds are super comfy, the kitchen is well equipped to make any meal or mix any cocktail. Good for a get away with friends or family and very pet friendly!

  • We had a great time! Beautiful house, the hot tub was lovely, and the hosts very kind. It's a great spot.

  • My family and I stayed two nights in December hoping to relax and reconnect after the holiday bustle. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Rock house, we only wished we had time to stay for an extra night!

About
Welcome! It's me, Rebecca B and I LOVE the desert and the tropics. Go figure. We have 2 homes available for rent on AirBnB. Our year-round rental is RockHouse Retreat and has become quite the popular desert pad. Here's a little history. So, I found this stunning "compound" for sale near Joshua Tree at the end of 2009 and was able to use my amazing powers of persuasion to convince my mother and brother to purchase it sight unseen and leave New York to relocate to the wonderland of the high desert. OK...so, MAYBE my powers of persuasion had NOTHING AT ALL to do with it. My mother has always been obsessed with the desert and was truly the one who nurtured my connection and passion for this land. You see, she's a rock hound and has a crazy cool connection and fascination with the history of the West. My brother can't get enough of the endless off-roading and hiking adventures. Originially RockHouse was intended as a desert escape for the family, but at the very end of 2011 we decided to share the joys of the property and land and made it available through AirBnB. And so glad we did!!! We've met some really cool folks (and their pets!) who share a love for adventure and the outdoors. So I present to you my mother and brother, Cheryl and Nick, who are now the fantastically chill hosts for your stay at RockHouse. They live in a completely separate home on the same 2.5+ acre property and keep out of your hair, unless you need them. Our other AirBnB rental in San Diego, is our primary residence and is only available for one month of the summer and one week after Christmas. It's 5 blocks to the beach in the groovy and laid back community of Point Loma / Ocean Beach. Super central and close to all the great attractions San Diego has to offer. A little about me. I live in San Diego, but spend A LOT of time up at RockHouse to decompress, recharge and connect with my little family and friends. I am a social entrepreneur, digital creator, student of life, adventurous, kind 'n quirky mama, wife & friend. Traveling renews and energizes me. A BIG fan of the desert (surprise!) and the tropics - go figure. We spend a month every year on the north shore of Kauai....so hit me up if you have any recommendations, connections, etc. I'm a lover of Fair Trade and FIRST Robotics. Meditation, yoga and running nurtures my body and soul and calms the monkeys in my mind. Exploring and learning about photography is my guilty pleasure.
