About This Listing
We live in the beautiful loft that we decorated with love and care to make it well designed and practical. We located only 15 min away from Union Squire by subway
We have a fully stocked kitchen, a dinning/living room , several shelves of books, a big soft velvet couch, a full wall of windows with a lot of light. We do not have a television. Your room is a large, fully furnished space with a sleep loft, dresser and mirror, a place for hanging clothes, a desk and chair, plenty of light. You are welcome to use the kitchen and hang out in the living room.
You will probably see us around the living room at night doing our homework.
We have a big fluffy cat who will demand attention and love.
We provide towels, sheets and even hair drier!
* My husband and I live in this apartment too. You are renting out a private room, not the whole apartment. However, we warn you that it is a loft, and if you have ever stayed in one you'll know that it is not completely private and our rooms are in close proximity to one another. If you are a couple looking for lots of alone time with full sound tight privacy, we recommend a hotel or a sound-proofed apartment. Also, our building is full of young weekend warriors who work hard during the week and sometimes party hard on the weekend. It is completely quite and relaxed during the weekdays, but it can get noisy on the weekends. Because of this, we want to warn any families or older individuals who are considering our place. We live on the forth floor with industrial elevator, which works only sometimes. we can get it for you to bring the luggage. We believe our space is best suited for friends, single persons, or any friendly individuals who like getting to meet and stay with new people.*
**About the sleeping arrangement: there is one full sized bed, and you have the option of the twin sized fold-out bed. So if you have three people staying, two have to sleep together in the full sized bed and one gets the fold-out. There are not three beds, and the room can get pretty tight with three people. So we would only recommend it for three close friends with a small amount of baggage.**
ABOUT SECURITY DEPOSIT: Recently we decided to start charging security deposit because at times guests have damaged our things, like hair die all over new sheets, broken expensive glasses, taken international charger or excessive mess left behind.
Thank You! Talk to you soon!
Liliya & Michael
Beyond the bedroom, guests can use the kitchen, refrigerator, living room and dining area, and of course the bathroom. The roof is open as well. There are also plenty of books around that you can look at and read.
Interaction with Guests
We are always open to answering any questions that guests may have about the city or the area. Also, we are usually down with having a drink or two together and getting to know each other. However, we do work a lot from home as we are freelancers, so there are times that we are in our office area being antisocial.
We are located in a quickly growing industrial/artist neighborhood. There is an amazing brick oven pizza restaurant down the street as well as several bars, coffee shops, organic food stores, wine shops, and galleries. Our area is really fun and there is always something going on.
The train stop is only a block and a half away, about 4 min walk. Morgan station on the L train.
Other Things to Note
If you are staying for four or more nights I will take down the cleaning fee. I will send you special offer where I subtract $20 cleaning fee.
Shoes off (we wash the floors). No smoking, you can go smoke on the roof, we live on the top floor; use non-metal utensils when using our expensive pans; clean your dishes. And, it's not really a rule, but try to turn the water and light off when you are not using it, it's common eco-friendly sense.
No heavy cologne or perfume please, really hard to get the smell out of blankets.
This was a great place to stay. The hosts were wonderful,it is very easy to get to and from Times Square and other Manhattan spots by subway, there are very good restaurants close by (Roberta's), and the rental space was perfect. In addition, I fell in love with Mr. Mud Puddles, the cat. If you like a funky neighborhood, an artistic and very clean space, and lovely hosts, stay here.
Our host made us feel extremely welcome. They sent copious notes about how everything worked, and were very generous with offering the use of things like their music system. They even gave us 2 extra days for free because they were going to be away anyway. This was a fantastic bonus for us, and very kind of them.
The apartment is very light and sunny, and there is an absolutely sensational gigantic fenced rooftop deck with views to Manhattan.
The only thing I would say is that the neighborhood is not really Williamsburg. It used to be called Bushwick, and is on the further reaches of Williamsburg - now called 'East Williamsburg' I believe, but it is nothing like downtown Williamsburg with the chic shops and restaurants. The apartment is in a fun neighborhood, but definitely industrial, edgy and hip - much more so than downtown Williamsburg. Apart from the main drag a couple blocks away with some great bars and an excellent fresh food market and liquor store, the streets in between are quite deserted at night. The population is young hipsters.
The L train subway is great when it works, but when we were there stations between the local stop and downtown Williamsburg were under construction so we had to get off and take a shuttle bus.
All in all a great stay - definitely the authentic New York loft experience - but do make sure you are OK with the neighborhood before you book.
Michael and Liliya are a sweet couple. Liliya recommended a beautiful Thai Restaurant that I could walk to. She also offered me some of her cooking when she cooked too much! Morgan Station is only a few mins walk away and then it's just one train ride (about 15mins) into Union Square. The room itself is not big but it is sufficient for two friends or a couple who are not on their Honeymoon! (Haha). There are four floors to walk up in the building as there isn't an elevator but as long as you are fine with that then this is a good place yo stay!
Wonderful location and loft space - fantastic hosts. I love visiting Brooklyn when I have meetings in NYC...and this place is vintage Brooklyn. Just two blocks to the Metro. Cool restaurants and cafes in easy walking distance. The loft room is two-tiered and very comfortable. Highly recommend this place!
I had a very good experience at Michael and Liliya's place. The loft is lovely and both hosts were very nice. As described, the Morgan station is very close and convenient.

About the Host, Michael&Liliya
My husband and I live in East Williamsburg, this is one of the "real" parts of New York. We are recent graduates, and now freelancing on various jobs like most New Yorkers do. We are both in the art field. I speak Russian and a little Spanish. Michael is true American, only english ;-)
We love our place and put a lot of work making it beautiful and cozy. I hope you like it too. It's not a hotel, so please no high maintenance people here. Everybody else we welcome! and we were lucky to meet many interesting kind solid travelers.
