Description

The space

Very convienient location, within easy reach of Dublin city, short walk from house to bus stop and train nearby. Close to M50 for travel all over Ireland.

Early Georgian, circa 1740. Please note this is an old house with a lived in feel. Most of our guests like that. Please do not come if you are looking for modern and spotless accomodation! To stay in houses like this usually costs a lot more than we charge. Our price is reflective of the fact that our bathrooms while totally functional are not of the latest up to date mode. If you are looking for that please do not come and then complain afterwards. You have been warned! What you will get is comfortable accommodation in a friendly, historic, eclectic and unique house.
Two double bedrooms are currently offered as bed and breakfast, one with ensuite bathroom and the other with a private bathroom (bath) near the bedroom.

Fully cooked breakfast included in price. Wifi available (free). Short walk into village where you will find restaurants, pubs and cafes. Local shop for papers.

Dublin airport is about 30 mins away.

The Leixlip Festival takes place every June bank Holiday Weekend Where you'll find lots of live entertainment in pubs, several open-air concerts, and there os also a street carnival.

The theme for the festival is 'The Arrival of the Vikings' .

Leixlip Castle. dates back from 1172, and is one of the oldest continuously-inhabited buildings in Ireland, pre-dating Dublin Castle by 30 years. Definitely worth a visit too!

Review : " Perfect balance between relaxing getaway and city trip. I doubt if better
value is to be found in the general Dublin area." April 2012

I love it's individuality retained not corporate. It is not your standard place it has grace and charm even if not all the amenities we seem to think essential these days . Without doubt you will be well cared for .

I thought the commute would be easy on the train, but it proved otherwise being well over an hour each way. Caroline seemed pleasant but I didn't see her apart form when I arrived as I was pretty tired in the evening and left before she got up in the morning.

Caroline was a wonderful host; great communication and directions leading up to our stay, made sure we felt very welcomed and comfortably during the trip itself with a delicious cooked Irish breakfast made at a time suitable to our schedule each morning. The house has bags of character and therefore charm and the area Leixlip is stunning with some beautiful walks to explore. Overall we really enjoyed our stay very much - thanks Caroline!

This is an absolutely beautiful home to stay in if you're looking to be away from the hustle and bustle of the busy city. Nevertheless, you are not too far from the city, only about an hour's bus ride (bus service 66) from Dublin City Centre. It is truly a home away from home and though the house may be slightly run down, it has an exquisite rustic charm to it that puts you at ease the minute you step into it. A very friendly and motherly host you can find in Caroline, and she goes out of her way to find out information for you that you require to go about doing what you'd like to do in Dublin. Together with her lovely son, Sebastian and her super friendly pets (I'm an avid animal lover), you're bound to feel a tug at your heart when you have to leave, like I did. I know I'll be returning to Ireland in the near future and I will definitely be seeking to stay in this gorgeous B&B, no doubt. Two thumbs up for the amazing experience I had here.
