The space

Very convienient location, within easy reach of Dublin city, short walk from house to bus stop and train nearby. Close to M50 for travel all over Ireland.

Early Georgian, circa 1740. Please note this is an old house with a lived in feel. Most of our guests like that. Please do not come if you are looking for modern and spotless accomodation! To stay in houses like this usually costs a lot more than we charge. Our price is reflective of the fact that our bathrooms while totally functional are not of the latest up to date mode. If you are looking for that please do not come and then complain afterwards. You have been warned! What you will get is comfortable accommodation in a friendly, historic, eclectic and unique house.
Two double bedrooms are currently offered as bed and breakfast, one with ensuite bathroom and the other with a private bathroom (bath) near the bedroom.

Fully cooked breakfast included in price. Wifi available (free). Short walk into village where you will find restaurants, pubs and cafes. Local shop for papers.

Dublin airport is about 30 mins away.

The Leixlip Festival takes place every June bank Holiday Weekend Where you'll find lots of live entertainment in pubs, several open-air concerts, and there os also a street carnival.

The theme for the festival is 'The Arrival of the Vikings' .

Leixlip Castle. dates back from 1172, and is one of the oldest continuously-inhabited buildings in Ireland, pre-dating Dublin Castle by 30 years. Definitely worth a visit too!

Review : " Perfect balance between relaxing getaway and city trip. I doubt if better
value is to be found in the general Dublin area." April 2012

It was my 3rd trip to stay with Caroline in her period home . When I knew I was returning to the area again for a quick business trip I couldn't have been happier to find there was a space for me . It is a warm welcome and a genuine consideration for your comfort you will get if this is your choice. If you , like me , seek an experience rather than the run of the mill then you will not be disappointed .

I booked the accommodation for family members and Caroline has been a great host. Excellent communications before the trip as well. Do pay attention to her description though - this is time travel in a beautiful location, but it is an old house.

Response from Caroline:
Jessica booked for her family and did not stay here herself. Jessica has been a pleasure to deal with at all times, before her guests arrived and afterwards. I feel badly now I overreacted to comments about the showers here. I think it was a cultural thing and the German way of being very straight talking. They were lovely people and I felt upset at their complaints about bathrooms because I wanted it to be alright for them - Particularly as Jessica was so lovely to deal with while making the booking. I realise now Jessica's guests were just trying to be helpful in telling me the issues they had and were otherwise happy with their stay. I am sorry now I wrote my review under a mis comprehension and I would infact very much reccommend Jessica and her guests as future potential guests for Airbnb!

I love it's individuality retained not corporate. It is not your standard place it has grace and charm even if not all the amenities we seem to think essential these days . Without doubt you will be well cared for .

I thought the commute would be easy on the train, but it proved otherwise being well over an hour each way. Caroline seemed pleasant but I didn't see her apart form when I arrived as I was pretty tired in the evening and left before she got up in the morning.
