Very nice host and the studio is in excellent shape.
I wuold recomend everyone to stay at the Diego Studio.
Pros: Just 1.5 blocks to the heart of San Miguel. Stores and restaurants just at the corner. Small comfy colored Mexican design in a truly Mexican neighborhood. Lynn has a folder with all the arrangements for your stay.
Cons: Not very clean. A little dusty and dirty dishes.
Lynn was accommodating at the last minute. I arrived very late at 2 am and there was someone to let me in to the studio. The location is perfect and I felt very safe considering I am a female traveling alone.
Lynn, the property host, was quick to the confirm the reservation, and she was very friendly and responsive. The greeter, Azucena, was there to greet us at the property right on time, and she was very friendly as well. The Diego studio was clean and well-stocked for a comfortable holiday. The studio is extremely convenient to all the highlights of San Miguel de Allende. It's just enough space for 1 or 2 people, especially if you plan to spend most of your time exploring the town. The rooftop terrace (shared with other studio) is lovely with a spectacular view of the Parroquia de San Miguel Arcángel.
It rained the first night we were there and a couple of the electrical outlets next to the bed leaked so much water that it created a very large puddle. The water soaked my wife's suitcase, and we had to put towels down to absorb the water. The next day (Friday), I reported the leak to the office and they said they would send someone to check it out. The repairman didn't show up until Saturday (a full day later), and he didn't even knock before trying to enter the studio. The repairman said he would report the issue to management. Needless to say, the leak wasn't fixed before our departure on Sunday.
Lastly, the guest staying in the other studio locked the outside door (that opens onto the street), and we were unable to open the door with our key on our last night. After trying to alert the other studio guest to open the door (to no avail), we called the rental office, but they didn't have an emergency number recording. We were only left with the option of finding a hotel room or trying to open the door however we could. Luckily, I was able to open the door with a few sturdy shoves (thanks CrossFit!).
In summary, the studio is well-stocked and in a great location, but beware of the possibility of leaking during rainy season and the possibility of being locked out due to the lack of consideration of guests in the other studio.
I have followed up with management to find out why it took so long to fix the leak. they are normally quite prompt.
The guests had a key to the front door (all our guests in the building receive one). Perhaps the door was swollen due to all the rain, and thus difficult to open. But open it they did with a "swift kick" and so their key did work! I don't know why they reported it as a problem if they were able to get it open.

About the Host, Lynn
I have always loved to fix and design. When I began my real estate career, selling new construction homes, I soon realized that the best part of the job was meeting with interior designers and architects and watching as the more artistic elements of the construction fell into place. After 13 years of owning a real estate company, I built two spec homes on magical Orcas Island in Washington State. Then I undertook a major remodel of a cabin on the water. Something clicked in me during that process of transforming the cabin; I knew I had found my passion….remodeling.
Throughout the next twelve years, I transformed some 30 rather creaky homes into fresh, livable residences, all in the Seattle area. Then I decided to turn my attention to designing and remodeling vacation homes; vacation rentals with personality. In 2005, I moved to Mexico, the land of color and craft, and began working there. In 2010 I did a remodel of a 1928 two bedroom apartment in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Then back to Mexico in 2011.
The most exciting phase of building a new place is when everything gets pulled together. I love the details, making sure that one thing plays with another in perfect harmony. I’m always on the hunt for that specific hand-selected ingredient. The beauty of Latin America is being able to design a particular piece that can be made by one of the many talented artisans. Seeing it all come together like a glorious puzzle is very rewarding.
Be my guest at one of eight different and individually unique accommodations in San Miguel de Allende:
“Casa Artistas” on San Francisco Street has a one bedroom casita and two studio apartments with kitchenettes, the Frida and Diego Studios.
”Casa de la Vista, a movie star hide-away” is a three bedroom view home on Salida a Queretaro.
“The Actors Studios” is on Animas Street. It consists of four apartments with kitchens and fireplaces…the Salma Hayek, the Ricardo Montalban, the Dolores del Rio and the Anthony Quinn.
And while you’re at it, check out the “House of Chanel”, a historical, art deco two bedroom apartment in Buenos Aires.
