Large room with a door out to lower deck. Private bath, big screen TV, movies, wifi and cable TV. You will be given your own key so you can make your own hours.
This is a very nice room with air conditioning and additional space heater and electric blanket if needed. Bed is a firm queen sized bed and you can open the door from the room to a beautiful deck.
House is in a nice neighborhood just 15 minutes from downtown. In the summer you can use the neighborhood pool ($8 per adult and $6 per child) and free tennis courts..also has playground, picnic tables and fire pits.
Public transportation is about a mile away. Will probably need your own car unless you are OK to walk 1 mile to public transport. Close to Arboretum and Forest Park. Use of shared kitchen (with me).
Stay one night or several. Non-smoking household (inside or out) non-smokers only please. 2 people, 2 cats, a dog and a parrot live in the rest of the house, but will be out of your area unless you want to have cats sleep with you (they are willing :-))
Kitchen, deck, living room, etc.
We had a great two-night stay with Julie who was very friendly and welcoming. The bedroom and adjoining bathroom were really comfortable and clean. TV available with lots of movies on DVD. Wifi worked fine. Julie graciously offered us space in the refrigerator and the use of the kitchen, and provided coffee and tea in the morning. She also recommended a great Thai restaurant which we also really liked. Wonderful also to meet Ivan, Ringo and the cats!
We loved our stay at Julie's. The studio apartment was tastefully decorated, comfortable and had a great view of the trees. Julie is a friendly and helpful host. Her two cats were friendly too! I would definitely stay there again.
We had a very brief stopover with Julie and it was perfect for our needs. It was clean, comfortable, private and very, very quiet. I would recommemd it highly to anyone who is planning a longer stay in Portland. I am already considering that! We arrived on a dark and rainy night which might have been a bit intimidating in the winding hills but the directions were clear and accurate. Thank you, Julie and Laura (who was house sitting and warmly accomodating)
I ended up Not Staying in the room advertised, but stayed in the apartment which is also hosted by Julie. This space and neighborhood is absolutely amazing! The view from the room is gorgous and the house is located close to many different stores and must see sights. Julie contacted me before my arrival via email letting me know she would be out of town before I got there and left detailed instructions about everything I would need to know about the space. It was extremely helpful of her and she really took the time to let me know how different appliances worked (i.e. dishwasher and fireplace) She was even so nice as to followup a couple days later just to make sure I was settled and to see if there was anything else I had questions about. Her dog is great and friendly but she will happily keep her pets at a distance if you prefer. She also is completely respectful of space and will not be in your way if you ask but she is also a great person to talk to if you are so inclined. I would stay here again in a second! Great Host and Home!
Just had a wonderful first experience with Air B&B by staying at Julie's huge basement apartment. Julie was a great hostess and very helpful during my 9 day stay. Spacious apartment with a beautiful view.
What a relief that Julie was so flexible; we arrived late but she took it in stride, making us feel totally welcome. The bedroom and bathroom are totally private; entry is from front door and straight down a flight of stairs. In a gorgeous section of Portland/ Beaverton, easy access to MAX light rail, lots of eateries within walking distance - once you get out of the subdivision. Ringo the parrot is hilarious, even mimicking my morning cough! Ivan the Alaskan Husky is a dear dog, and on our last morning we met one of the 2 cats, whom Julie keeps in their own area. You never meet the pets unless you want to.
After a shaky start (Julie thought I was coming Friday instead of Tuesday, and airbnb had not sent out a reminder to either one of us) it turned out well. Julie told me about a great place to eat and to get some groceries and when I returned my room was ready. The bed was comfortable, and the room dark and quiet which made for a good nights sleep. And I enjoyed meeting and socializing with Ivan.
Very private downstairs room. Quiet suburban neighborhood. Julie was great. We shared a couple of meals together and had a wonderful time swapping stories.
Julie is a nice, interesting and creative person. We enjoyed the time in her big and stylish arranged house. It was a pleasure to spend our time with her!
