The Space

Looking for a comfortable, lovely garden apartment in one of the greatest cities in the world? Look no further. We are listing a fantastic studio apartment, with a small bonus room, full bathroom and fully equipped kitchen. With one queen and one twin bed, it can sleep three comfortably. Attached to the studio is a beautiful, tranquil and blooming garden which is wonderful to enjoy your morning coffee or tea in, or an evening glass of wine. There are fresh herbs to use for cooking and many varieties of roses. There are also beautiful birds (including hummingbirds) who enjoy bathing in the fountain. It is fun to watch! We have recently added a fire pit which makes the foggy SF evenings so much more pleasant :)

CONVENIENT LOCATION:
We are located in the Mission Terrace neighborhood, about 10-15 minutes from SFO airport. There is access to HWY101 and HWY 280 within less than a mile. As the entire city of San Francisco is 7 miles by 7 miles, we are still close to everything even though we are not located right in the center of the city. (See public transportation section below for more information.) As an added bonus, this is one of the few areas in San Francisco where there is free parking available!

WALK-ABILITY: Our neighborhood, Mission Terrace, has a Walkability Score of 84 out of 100. This means that our location “is very walkable so most errands can be accomplished on foot.” There are several nice parks, grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, etc. nearby. (See below for more details!)
PUBLIC TRANSIT: Our location has excellent access to public transit and has a Transit Score of 92 out of 100. There are roughly 30 nearby routes: 15 buses and 12 rails. The closest BART train station is Glen Park BART, a 10 minute walk less than half a mile away. The Muni is even closer (less than a 5 minute walk) where you can easily catch the “J Church” or the “F Market & Wharves” tram at the San Jose Ave and Santa Rosa Ave stop less than 2 blocks away. There are also numerous buses that run nearby, including a bus that can take you directly to Golden Gate Park and a 24 hour bus line down Mission Street. For those traveling by air, the BART can take you directly from the terminals at SFO airport to the nearby Glen Park station in just 22 minutes. Or, for even more convenience the Super Shuttle or a local taxi cab can bring you directly from the terminals to the doorstep. If you take the right bus or train you can get almost anywhere in the city from our location in about half an hour or less.
GOOD FOOD: San Francisco is known for its good food, and finding it in our neighborhood is no exception! Nearby there are a variety of cuisines, ranging from casual and inexpensive to others are much fancier. American, Mexican, Italian, French, Chinese, Japanese, Central/South American, Vietnamese, Pilipino, Thai - no doubt you could find any type of cuisine to suit your taste here! This also includes ice cream shops, bakeries, bars, coffee shops, deli’s, and a locals’ favorite sandwich shop right here in the neighborhood. Besides restaurants, there are also a neighborhood pharmacy (Walgreens), hardware store, grocery stores, several banks, electronics store, florists, a bookstore, and a library. And if you feel like having a night in, but don’t want to miss out on any of the good food there are many options for places that offer local delivery, as well.
SUPERMARKETS/GROCERIES: There are two large grocery stores nearby: Canyon Market (0.4 miles away) is known throughout San Francisco for its fresh, local, organic food options and good beer/wine selection. People come from all over town to shop at Canyon Market, but luckily we live very nearby! Safeway (one 0.6 miles away and one 0.7 miles away) has pretty much anything else you could ever need. For other smaller grocery needs, there are corner markets on almost every block corner in the Mission, the closest to us being the Red Sea Market which is just 2 block corners away. With a $15 minimum order, they even offer free delivery!
ENTERTAINMENT: There is a TV/DVD combo and several DVD’s in the Garden studio for your entertainment needs. While we do not have cable or local TV channels, we do have a ROKU attached to the TV which gives you access to many shows and movies via Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant video, etc. So even without cable or satellite TV your movie and TV show options are pretty much limitless...although while you’re in San Francisco we really recommend you not to spend too much of your time indoors watching TV. There is so much to do and see in our wonderful city!! We are happy to offer tips or pointers if you would like any locals advice.
EDUCATIONAL INTERESTS: SF State University and SF City College are within two miles. There is a neighborhood branch of the San Francisco library within easy walking distance, less than half a mile away.
OUR IDEAL GUESTS: Our cozy, clean, and quiet garden studio is ideal for families or other groups of 1-3 people...such as travelers who enjoy getting out of the hustle and bustle of the tourist areas and who enjoy living life as a local...adventurers who enjoy lovely walks and fun bus/train rides...people who like having a safe, free and easy location to park their car...travelers who enjoy meeting their hosts and getting tips and advice on things to do and see.. and those who enjoy having a good time in life and seeing things off the beaten path.
RATES: Our rates are $140 a night May-Sept, with a 50.00 cleaning fee. From Oct-April we offer reduced rates of $130 a night. We have a two night minimum stay. We offer a special discounted weekly rate to stay for 6 nights and get the 7th night free, which works out to $840 per week (May-Sept) or $800 per week (Oct-April). We are also open to negotiate for extended stays and Seniors.
PROVISIONS: We provide all the towels and linens. We also provide local coffee, a selection of teas, milk/cream, and other little comforts like toiletries, a hair dryer, iron, occasional baked goods and a complimentary bottle of wine.
FEEL AT HOME: We would love to help you feel at home for your stay in San Francisco. We hope you can take advantage of the gas fireplace, guest library, our secret garden, and fully equipped kitchen during your stay. The house was built in 1924 and we have taken care to decorate it in a way to help you feel comfortable and relaxed.
Feel free to send us a message if you have any questions or need further info. We are always happy to help our fellow travelers! We would appreciate if you can let us know a little bit about who you are when inquiring about your stay here, Thank you, and we look forward to helping make your stay in San Francisco a wonderful and memorable one!

Cheers, Natalie and Paige

  • Staying with Natalie was great. She came down to greet us when we arrived and was really friendly. She gave us tips on how to get around town and even let us print our boarding passes in her house. The studio really is both tranquil and convenient :) The space is quiet and well put together, nice to return to after a day of running around. It's also in a good neighborhood with quick access to Muni. We tried a couple of her restaurant recommendations that were within walking distance and were not disappointed. I hope to return to SF some day and stay there again.

  • We had a fabulous stay for four nights in San Francisco at Natalie and Paige's studio. Natalie is a great host; she communicated as needed in a timely way before we arrived and got us settled in once we were there. The studio is very comfortable, clean and tastefully decorated (as indicated in the photos etc). We enjoyed our morning coffee in the garden with some amazing songbirds and a friendly humming bird who would bathe in the fountain. Public transit, restaurants and a fabulous market are all nearby. We would definitely stay again.

  • I stayed here with two close friends and we had an amazing time! We were greeted by Natalie when we first arrived and she gave us a few pointers where we could find the Bart station, local restaurants and a grocer near by. The large room slept two comfortably and one in a small converted space with a twin bed. She also brought us cookies and a bottle of wine! So thoughtful! The kitchen was such a convenience. We even brought our crock pot to use while we explored during the day.

We brought our car up to San Francisco and were pleasantly surprised to find parking whenever we returned to the home. The Bart station would be a little bit of a walk from the house but not too long. The home was very clean and comfortable and I would recommend this place to my friends and would definitely come back if given the opportunity.

Thank you Natalie and Paige for your generosity!

  • I stayed at Natalie and Paige's place for two nights with two of my friends. It's located in a quiet neighborhood not far from the airport and I easily got into downtown San Fran with my car. Natalie was more than gracious and asked me several times if everything was okay. The apartment was perfect and as described. The bed was super comfy also! I would definitely stay there again if I go back.

  • This is a lovely studio! It's located in a nice part of town and it's easy to get into central San Fran by public transport. We wanted two separate beds and although the second bed just fits in it's own room, it was fine for me. The double bed was lovely. The garden is absolutely beautiful. We were welcomed with wine and lovely hot muffins. We even had time to chat to our hosts and only wish we could stay longer. It's cool - go ahead and book!

  • Our stay was awesome! Natalie was very attentive to our requests and made use feel very welcome. The extra personal touches, fresh baked bread and over sized umbrellas, were above and beyond! We will definitely stay again!

  • This space was absolutely brimming with tranquility and true hospitality! This studio has been put together with such love and small deco touches. I found myself coming home early to spend time there. Hosts are kind, generous and fun and it was a pleasure to have been accepted as their guest. I would go all the way back to San Fran from Australia again just to stay here.

  • We spent three nights at Natalie and Paige's place. It was perfect! Really clean, pretty, cosy and with lots of space. Shower is also great!Natalie was brilliantly at keeping in touch and helped us out at the last minute when we decided to come a day early. She also went out of her way to make us feel welcome by baking treats and giving us lots of helpful tips about the area. Parking is not a problem on this street. You can get downtown within about half an hour on the Muni. There are some nice places to eat locally and plenty of food shops etc. The added bonus of Netflix plus and the gas fire was also wonderful. Thanks so much!

  • Very pleasant setting, if somewhat basic, and thoughtful hosts! The location was convenient, easy parking and good access to public transportation. Lovely garden as well. One person in our group was celebrating her birthday, and she received a nice note with a plate of homemade cookies from Natalie.
