This is a six floor walkup, which keeps out street noise but is a hike. No smoking at all is permitted (no roof or fire-escape smoking).

The historic East Village, home of the Bowery Poetry Club, St Marks in the Bowery Church, and Astor Place, once the hometown of punk and the Tompkins Square squats, now home to fabulous and creative designer boutiques, gluten free bakeries, old school Italian cannoli and mozzarella haunts, and some of NYC's top rated restaurants and bars. Diverse, lively, and pelasing to the senses. I love a day when I can just walk from my favorite cafe to my favorite park to Whole Foods to Trader Joes, never taking a subway or bus or cab. A short ride by public transportation, though, can get you to MoMA, the Met, Barneys, Lincoln Center, or hip Brooklyn... all New York's good things.
Two blocks from the First Ave L, five blocks from the Union Square hub (4,5,6,N,Q,R,L). Walking distance to NYU, Lower East Side, East River bike trail, Tomkins Square Park, Washington Square Park, Bowery Museum, Cooper Union. In short, a great location.
Checkin 4pm, checkout 10am (to accommodate maid service). Left luggage until the afternoon is fine.

My first Airbnb experience could not have been better. Elizabeth was an excellent host. She was quick to respond to any questions, professional, and provided clear and detailed instructions about the apartment prior to arrival. The apartment itself had lots of character, was clean, and comfortable. The location was fantastic. Just a short walk from the subway with plenty of bars and restaurants in the area to keep you entertained. I have absolutely no negatives, and hope to stay here again on my next visit to the city. Thanks Elizabeth for the great experience!
Elizabeth was very easy to communicate with and responsive to our emails, although we never met in person. Her local tips were helpful. We were a bit uncertain about the key delivery method (by post to Australia), but it worked out fine and we received the key with plenty of time before our departure. The apartment is in a vibrant part of Manhattan with plenty of great places to eat and drink. The subway is about a ten minute walk, but that's nothing compared to the six flights of stairs to the apartment! It is made clear in the apartment description, but don't underestimate the effort, especially if you forget something. The apartment itself is cosy and contained everything we needed. The pictures represent it well. The bed was firmer than we were used to but still comfortable. We were there for two weeks and received a single set of sheets and towel - so if you like fresh linen and towels, be prepared to wash them. Thanks for hosting us, Elizabeth.
First of all I must say that Elizabeth is great host. She replayed for my booking request into few minutes. Later on we were in touch before my arrival and during my stay at her apartment.
The apartment is very cozy n nice. The most important is located in East Village ! That means a lot nice restaurants, pubs and bars around. Just walking distance to Union Square.
Very important air-condition is working properly what is important during NYC's summer :)
I have very good experience and can recommend that place
Elizabeth's apt is great. It looks like in the photos on the site. Its location is fantastic, you are near a lot of retaurantes, Unión Square, the heart of the East village and a short distance from Williamsburgh. The subway is just around the corner.
The apt was very clean and cute.
Elizabeth is very friendly and helpful.
The key delivery works perfectly.
Even Elizabeth always lets you know about the stairs to get to the apt, don't underestimate this fact.
We spent one week at Elizabeth´s place and had a great time. The apartment was very clean when we arrived and had the entire comfort we needed. It has a great location: minutes from the subway and restaurants / bars.
It was our first time renting an apartment via airbnb and was very successful ! I recommend Rlizabeth´s apartment. She always responded quickly to all my questions and gave us all needed information regarding the apartment and our stay.
We heart Elizabeth AND her awesome apartment, Elizabeth was fantastic to deal with and VERY helpful. Her apt is in my fav neighbourhood in NYC with the most amazing array of shopping and eats in town right at her doorstep. Her home is very cosy, warm and full of wonderful objects that project a lovely vibe. Thanks for the best stay in NYC Elizabeth,.
Amazing. A stay at Elizabeth's home was optimal, since the first contact when she answered quickly the questions until the shipment in advance the keys and instruntions of use the place. The apartament is very well located, with many facilities and subway just two blocks. The apartament is well divided, with fours rooms at total, well equipated, confortable, is airly and full of natural light in the front room. The decor makes very cozy, was very clean and the mattress was confortable (was very important because we stay for one month). Ok, is the six floor, but worth the effort the beautiful view and spaciuos place (by the standars of New York). Elizabeth was very cozy during the hurricane Sandy, offering a discount if was necessary we stay in the city besides the agreed. I recommend to all the site and will be our first choise when we returns to New York.
I have just spent a few weeks in Elizabeth's apartment and had a wonderful time. Communication during initial booking and whilst I stayed there was clear and fast. It's a great location that is in the heart of the East Village, you have everything you could wish for around you. Easy access to the rest of Manhattan (especially close to the areas of Lower East Side, SoHo, TriBeCa, the up and coming Alphabet City with its great coffee shops and beautiful community gardens and you are one subway stop from Bedford Avenue and the centre of Williamsburg).
The apartment is 6 flights up but it's just part of the experience, it means you get excellent views down into the East Village with the financial district in the distance.
Cooking facilities are simple but more than enough for if you want to cook instead of eating out all the time (in a money saving way).
The apartment itself is very comfy and I felt at home right away, I would happily stay there again. Elizabeth made the whole visit very easy and simple and I can't fault it at all.
Elizabeth's place was in a fantastic location with enough space for the 2 of us who stayed, and with everything we needed for our month-long stay in New York. Elizabeth was contactable and very helpful throughout the month (at one point we had plumbing issues, which she arranged to be fixed the next morning), and kindly left us a range of maps, guides and dining options in the local area. The apartment itself was clean, warm and the bedroom was well-lit during the day, with beautiful views of lower Manhattan. You get used to the 6th floor walk-up, and you don't hear too much of the noise from street level at all.
I would definitely recommend Elizabeth's apartment to anyone for either short or long stays in the city, and she'd be the first person we'd go to when we next visit!
