Bob was a real swell guy. Picked us up from Chiang Mai and dropped us off so we didn't have to worry about getting to his place or from it. You will need a scooter or other personal transportation to get there day-to-day which Bob will help you get if you wish. Real country living, tons of wildlife! Nice relaxing vibe. One of dogs he has is real sweet and stayed with us the whole time. It's a safe place and there are shops you can walk to for food and drinks nearby.
Bob has been very welcoming, helpful and friendly. From the very begining, he picked us up at the train station, shared a lot of informations and tips on the activities and services in the area. The house is equiped with everything you need and nicely decorated. Even if the house is located 20 minutes on the motobike away from town, we definitely recommand this charming homestay for anyone who s looking for a simple quiet garden vibe.
We had an amazing and way to short stay at Bobs house. We where surprised to see how much there actually was to do and see in the surrounding villages and had great fun biking around and going to markets and local resturants. Chiang Mai city was a really good experience but going the 10 km outside of town was so cool, you get to see a much more real Thailand.
The price is ridiculus for what you get, and its clear that bob isent in it for the money, but we would recomend this to anyone even if it was priced much higher, as its an uniqe experience. Besides that Bob was a superb host, knowlegeable , sharing and just such a nice guy.
Bob's place is decorated in antiques and seems like a great sanctuary away from the city. Unfortunately, we didn't realize it was about a 20 minute bus ride from central Chiang Mai, so we ended up staying elsewhere. If you are looking for something quiet and remote, this will be perfectly suited for you.
Lovely teak n mahogany huts will loads of charm. Bob is a great host with plenty of local knowledge. All in all a great place stay. Enjoy your trip!
The teak house is such a wonderful gem, a little outside of Chiang Mai City. After exploring the busy city, we were grateful for this quiet home, where you fall asleep and awake with the sounds of nature. We didn't mind catching one of the mini busses into town even though half the time we didn't know where it would take us. It was an authentic experience! Whenever we did get lost, Bob's friend, Scott, was only a call away and was extremely helpful every time we needed to get a hold of him. Also worth noting: the village nearby (3 km) is a must for purchasing handcrafted souvenirs, far cheaper than on any other market.
