About This Listing
This is a 75-m2-one bedroom penthouse apartment- the only one on the 6th floor- with a generous balcony on the dining room/ library side and a small balcony off the kitchen in the back. Located in the Kolonaki neighborhood, a stone's throw from the best cafes and bars, around the corner from the Filion cafe for example, a watering hole for the more intellectual Kolonaki set and a great place to sit and watch the Athenian world go by. The location is also ideal for all destinations in the city center-just minutes away from both metro lines and walking distance (about 20 min.) from the historic Plaka and also from the central fish and meat markets of Athinas street- one of my favorite places on this earth, a heaven for anyone interested in cooking. In spite of being in the center of the city (on Solonos St- a busy thoroughfare) it is set back from the street and quiet and bright. I have lived in the flat for almost 20 years and love its energy and beauty. It is an artistically decorated spacious one bedroom flat for 2 people.
We had a fantastic time in Anna's apartment. It's very well appointed, had everything we needed. It's very near the centre and was also near my son's apartment so suited us well. Athens is a huge, busy and vibrant city. We shall be back.
We had an amazing time staying at Anna's apartment - the apartment was just as described on airbnbn, and was superbly clean. Anna was a welcoming host, and meet us upon our arrival. The apartment was easy to find, just a quick walk from Syntagma metro station. The area felt safe to walk around, even late at night. Anna shared some tips on places to check out around the city, which was helpful. Staying at Anna's apartment made our trip - it was delightful to sit out on her porch in the evenings. The location was superb - we walked the whole week - and were able to hit all of the sites by foot (Syntagma Square, the Acropolis, Zeus's temple, Monastiraki Flea Market, Athens Central Market, Mt. Lycabettus (which you can see from the bedroom window), and Agora.
We had a fantastic stay at Kolonaki house. Anna was a wonderful host with helpful tips and pointers. The house is even lovelier than it looks...simple and elegant, full of character and with a fab balcony overlooking a central street on Kolomaki but full of greenery and selusion.
The place has everything you need and is great for the enthusiastic cook with a big well stocked kitchen. The location is perfect for exploringkolonaki and the whole og Athens.
I couldn't recommend Anna or this place any more highly..it's gorgeous !
Anna's apartment was big, sunny and lovely and it served as a solid home base for 3 days of exploring Athens. The balcony was large and a lovely place to relax. The shower and kitchen were no frills but compared to a hotel, it was nice to have a large fridge. Nice sized bed, apartment was clean(there is a cleaning lady) and large sized rooms to spread out.
The neighborhood was safe and quiet and only a few minutes walk from Central Athens and the nearby shopping district. Everything was basically closed on Sunday ( versus many open places in the more touristy areas) but again, its so close to everything it feels like a nice escape. Also super close to Lycabettus Hill which I would definitely recommend.
One point - The keys (there are 3 of them and they are old fashioned) are fairly difficult to master without a demonstration. We had to call Anna's friend Andrea(as Anna is currently in Italy hence why she rents the place out) and she was incredibly nice enough to come to the apt on the first night at around 10pm to help us. The trick is to essentially use one of the keys to open the door once it is unlocked. very hard to explain without physically showing - and I would pre-warn anyone renting the place to make sure and ask for a demonstration(we were not the only people who have stayed here and struggled with it we were told!)
other than that - we had no complaints about the apartment or Anna and Andrea's quick responses to emails etc. The hood is the main draw and Anna's place is a great way to stay in chic Kolonaki without breaking the bank.
Anna is extremely sweet and helpful (through her good friend who manages the property). The apartment is perfectly located in Kolonaki (the good area of downtown Athens) however it's lacking internet (to be added) and proper heating. Unfortunately there wasn't much that Anna could do about it, other than offer a generous discount which she did. Overall I recommend it, but would probably suggest getting it in the warmer months vs winter since it can be chilly in there.
About the Host, Anna
I am an artist working for a period in Italy and am looking for people that are staying in Athens and will appreciate the personal touches of the flat, the sunny comfortable spaces and the lovely veranda with a small garden.
