About this listing
Trata-se de uma casa de arquitectura moderna, construída recentemente no topo de uma colina, com excelentes vistas sobre o oceano e as montanhas (incluindo o Pico da Vara, o ponto mais alto da ilha). A decoração também é moderna e simples.
I would like to share my house with those who want to know S. Miguel, the largest island of Azores.
The house is located in Povoação, the first village founded by the Portuguese after the discovery of The Azores.
Nearby, you can find Lagoa das Furnas, Caldeiras das Furnas, Praia da Ribeira Quente and Miradouros in the road from Povoação to Nordeste.
The house has all the comfort: wireless internet, cable tv, fireplace, big garden, parking places, ...It's a recent construction, with modern decor and is located in a quiet spot with excellent views over the Atlantic Ocean.
This particular bedroom is cozy and has plenty of storage space. In there, exists a couple's bed (150x200). I also have a baby crib (we can agree on a symbolic price). There are also two bedside tables, a mirror and a little desk, besides the wardrobe.
If you come with a group (more than two people), relatives or friends, and if you need more space, i can offer you two more bedrooms, but you have to book it separately on airbnb (please take a look at my other offers).
In the neighborhood there's a perfect path walking and jogging.
You can use the kitchen and all its utensils for preparing simple meals (pastas, salads, ...; roasting, grilling and frying not allowed; the use of the barbecue is also not allowed), but you must leave it as clean and tidy as you found it. In fact, the guests may use the whole house, except the other bedrooms. I rent out three bedrooms and there two bathrooms, both with a shower, which the guests share.
Interaction with Guests
I prepare breakfast and everybody enjoys it: everyday I make homemade bread (still warm, depending on your waking up time :)), cake and jams and some local products: milk, tea, butter, cheese, ...
I have a license for hosting, according to the Portuguese Law.
If you decide to stay with me, I'm sure you won't regret.
It's a residential neighborhood. The markets, bars and restaurants are in the village, about two minutes (driving) from the house. The bus stop is also in the village.
To visit all the island, you need to rent a car; it doesn't matter where you're staying, you'll always need a car: the most interesting spots are not reachable by bus (in fact, the bus doesn't run often in the island). Concerning to the car rental, I can give you some suggestions, if you need.

About the Host, Carla
I'm a high school teacher (I teach Portuguese, Latin and Ancient Greek) and I'm very lucky for living in the beautiful island of S. Miguel, in The Azores.
I'm a quiet person, who enjoys reading, relaxing on the garden, watching movies and do some hiking (Povoação, the village where I live, has a lot of hiking trails).
S. Miguel Island, the biggest of all Azorean islands, is a truly nature's paradise. You can walk around the lakes, visit magic gardens, have a bath on natural hot pools, swim with dolphins, go on a whale watching tour, see volcanos, go to the beach, walk in the middle of the woods for birdwatching, geocaching, hiking, discovering waterfalls or just relaxing.
The weather is very unpredictable. Never too cold; never too hot. Please, bring a rain coat and count the rainbows :) Prepare yourself for having the four seasons in the same day.
After booking guests will be provided with some suggestions: places to go and activities to do.
I have two female cats, Miona and Micas, and a baby dog, a German Shepperd puppy, called Zeus (edited: not so baby anymore...). We would like to share our place with those who want to know S. Miguel. Miona loves to have a different lap everyday and Zeus just wants to play with someone (Micas is more independent). And me... I promess do not disturb you and prepare delicious breakfasts for your mornings (I love to cook, and my homemade cakes are very appreciated :)).
We hope to meet you at our place! See you soon!
