The space

My house is located on Playa Maderas with great surfing, fishing, snorkeling, and a one minute walk to the secluded Playa Majagual. It's the perfect getaway and only 15 minutes from San Juan Del Sur.

Click +More for details

- Three bedrooms, each with a full-sized bed, ceiling fan and movable floor fans (no air-conditioning)
- Two lofts (semi private rooms) on opposite sides of the house - floor mattresses as needed.
- Two bathrooms with showers

Also Included:
- Large covered porch
- Fully equipped kitchen
- Board games and interesting books.
- Hammocks hung in the back yard under the porch and trees
- Two large dining tables

My beach house is located in a semi-secluded area in a forest setting with other beach homes. The surroundings are completely natural, with trees providing shade and homes for all kinds of tropical life, including endless varieties of birds and the local Howler monkeys.

Eating In:
Buy your food in San Juan del Sur at the central market. You’ll find fresh produce, and a small convenience store with a great variety of imported goods and a selection of meats.

If you’re looking for fish, the local fisherman’s co-op in San Juan is a short walk down the waterfront in a small wooden building where a wide variety of fish come in every afternoon. And don’t forget your speargun or fishing pole, the water outside the house is clear and full of fish.

Once you arrive at my house, there is a small shop nearby that stocks some basic supplies and every other day a produce truck comes to the house with fresh fruits and vegetables.

Dining Out:
A one kilometer walk down the beach you will find a group of four bars and restaurants right on the sand serving everything from fish tacos to wood fired pizzas in a brick oven. San Juan del Sur is only 20 mintutes away, and in between there are even more restaurants to choose from.

There are many great places to hike, both to other beaches and in the forest for bird and animal watching.

You can rent surfboards and take lessons at the end of the beach at the restaurants.

There is great fishing from the point at the end of the beach, and you can also arrange fishing, diving, surfing, snorkeling, and other tours from San Juan del Sur.

Guest access

If the guest rents out the house for at least 4 people, they will have the house to themselves.

If guests only pay for 2 people then they will have to share the common spaces with other guests (if other guests are present)

Our caretaker lives nearby and will meet you with your key. He will be available to help with anything you need.

Paradise, beautiful home, perfect beach if your looking for seclusion and to completely unplug. Bring groceries because it a long way to town to shop and you won't want to leave. Pack light if I you're arriving during the rainy season, you'll need to walk the beach to get to the house during a low tide. Herley, the caretaker, took great effort to make sure we had everything we needed. Daniel, the host, provided excellent communication and details on the property. Five star experience.

What a beautiful location, loved the beaches nearby and the privacy around the house (all the other houses on the same plot were empty when we were there). Caretaker Herly was very friendly and helpfull. We loved the little local family restaurant on the corner of playa Ocotal (just down the sand path) had dinner there every night! Many sweet dogs around. Surf at Maderas great, also for kids!! Many thanks!

Great, quiet location. If you are looking for a more out of the way place with beaches pretty much to yourself, this is a great spot for you. The house is comfortable and has everything that is needed. This was our second stay at Daniel's house, and I would return there when visiting this part of Nicaragua.

What a great experience! The house was lovely and had a great porch with hammocks to swing and listen to the ocean breeze. It was a two-minute walk from two secluded and beautiful beaches, each with a restaurant. It is about a 10 - 15 minute walk from Maderas beach, which has a few restaurants and surf lesson shops. Herley lives on the property and is very helpful, especially to point out wildlife. The house does not have AC, so it can get really hot at times, but there are fans to cool it down at night. Plus, there is so much to do out and about! I would definitely recommend renting a car as the house is about 25 minutes north of San Juan del Sur. It was helpful to have a car to get groceries and explore the area. Best food our of entire trip was at the little restaurant on the "secret" beach right by the house - it is a must. Wander the beach at night - we saw turtles laying their eggs! Thank you, Daniel, for a great experience.

Awesome place. Best location. Perfect for a former hostel going backpacker all grown up with kids. The location is authentic, perfect location to beaches. No wifi or tv and that was a huge plus. Spent endless hours on the patio and on hammocks. Tiny surfing village a walk down the beach, but far enough away to keep the local feel. Hostel nearby with good folks. Best beach shack-restaurant I've ever been to, went every night for Tonas, sunset, and delicious fish. Seriously can't be beat. Nothing fancy, but for us, it was perfect. Oh couple times a week fruit truck comes by, yum! Great adventure for kids.

Staying at the Maderas beach house was a beautiful experience. The endless sounds of the birds are beautiful just to sit in a hammock and relax, aswell as listening to the howler monkeys almost terrifying call. It was not directly on Maderas beach. It was on the playa majagual which was even better because we had a little private beach. More secluded. At the Maderas beach, there was a lot of tourists and surfers of course. If you surf it's the place to be. The waves in the ocean are very strong and the undertow is very powerful so keep your wits about you, but it's really not that bad. I wouldn't really see snorkeling since the waves are always on the move and the sand is always being spun around. On the listing it states wifi but there is none in the house. Is also said there is wifi at Maderas beach in one of the restaurants. But when we were there it didn't work. I'm not saying I needed the wifi but anyone who is looking for it will not find it. Overall the house had a fully equipped kitchen. No washing machine for personal belonging. But the house is very clean and has great lounge chairs and hammocks. I will say if you hate sand and beautiful nature sounds do not come here! Because there is a lot of it! We loved it. But just make sure to get as many directions as possible. Once Daniel gives you the instructions you will see it says to turn right no a red two story house. It has been painted and is now a yellow/beige house.

We had a wonderful time at Maderas Beach House. It's a lovely location close to two beaches and even in the high season we had the beach almost to ourselves. The house is clean and tidy with comfortable beds and everything you need for a lovely relaxing Holiday. We highly recommend!

I am a Nicaraguan American, and have lived in Nicaragua for most of my life. I have lived in various parts of the world, including different countries in South America and the Middle East.

I enjoy surfing and hanging out with people from all over the world. Traveling gives me inspiration and insight into all the wonderful ways of living life. To me, traveling is one of the those marvelous gifts that allows you to see that your way of life is not necessarily the best, or the only way of living right.

I like to think that I am an easy-going and calm person that does his best to help out in any situation. I love to cook and read as well as take naps in hammocks.
