This cozy 3/2 cottage is a 20 minute stroll to the center of downtown or a 4 minute cab. Complete with all the amenities you could want. Comes with an urban Co-Op Farm in the backyard with a great vegetable garden and a flock of chickens and ducks.

The Space

My house is just on the outskirts of downtown in the nicest neighborhood in the city. We have been operating an urban co-op farm in the backyard for over three years that feeds 22 families. The house is incredibly convenient to anywhere you want to go in the city. Tons of parking, cable, wifi, hammock, gas and charcoal grills, bikes, central AC, house computer, record player with record collection, surround sound, flat screed tv's, washer and dryer, complete fully stocked kitchen, fire pit, and much more. I'm a local restauranteur with 32 years of local experience and contacts. Happy to help with any and all needs.

Guest Access

You will have access to the entire house and grounds.

Interaction with Guests

As much or as little as you would like. I do like to meet guests at the house when they arrive to provide a tour and some special in sites on house operations and anything else they might need.

The Neighborhood

Clarksville is the oldest neighborhood in the city. It has some of the nicest people anywhere on the planet. A grocery store, pharmacy, corner store, coffee shop and numerous restaurants are just a 5 minute walk from the house. The neighborhood also has many parks , historical houses, and one of the oldest fire stations in Austin.

Getting around

Bus stop three blocks away. 20 minute walk to downtown, 5 minute walk to grocery store and restaurants. 4 minute $7 cab ride downtown. 20 minute drive to the airport.

Other Things to Note

The front and backyard have an operating Co-Op urban farm. A gardener works for a few hours in the morning and comes on site for 2 minutes after dark to close the chicken coop.
None of my past guests have been bothered by this as he is very quiet. Feel free to contact me if you have any other questions.

  • This is a fabulous place to stay when visiting Austin for business or pleasure. The location is convenient to downtown as well as to Zilker Park. It was an $8 to $10 cab ride and we had no problem getting a cab to pick us up from the house to enjoy the Austin nightlife and not need to mess with parking. Michael is a great host, providing special perks like bikes, helmets and locks, fresh eggs, a record player and even some adult bererages upon checkin. I stayed with two other adults for a business conference being held at the Hyatt and we all had are own room and the free parking(there is room for at least four cars) and internet make it an incredible value. We saw the gardner one morning but never heard a peep. It was cold and rainy when I visited so I didn't get to use the firepit, but hope to return. And great communication before, at checkin and during the visit. It is a great place to visit. Definitely a 5 star experience.

  • The record player, the fresh eggs, the organic garden-- everything was perfect. Such a quintessential Austin experience and host. Thanks, Michael, for making our week in Austin a memorable one.

  • A group of 5, including myself, visited Austin for the first time for sporting event and weren't sure where to stay. We stumbled upon Michael's house on Airbnb and figured it looked sufficient.

I'm happy to report we had a WONDERFUL stay! The house was in a great central location for all of our activities, close access to the highway, an easy jaunt to downtown, and walking to neighborhood essentials such as coffee, groceries, and a few cafes.

Michael made us all very comfortable and met us at the house to give us a walk through. The home had everything we needed including fresh eggs and garden-fresh vegetables for meals, lots of entertainment, and an OUTSTANDING outdoor area for hanging out.

Our only complaint was that we had to eventually go home!

  • We could not have been more pleased with the accommodations and with Michael's hospitality! The house was perfect for our family's Austin getaway! From the comfortable and eclectic living room complete with turntable, great album collection, flat screen tv and pet duck and chicken viewing to the fantastic back yard with fresh herbs and veggies at your fingertips as well as fire pit....we will definitely be back. Michael was a fantastic resource for all things Austin and the location was minutes from everything we needed. A+++

  • The house was perfect and Micheal is an excellent host! I would definitely rent this house again and recommend it to others. My only complaint is that we had to leave on Sunday to head back to reality. Here's a link to a blogpost one of girls did about the weekend that touches on the house: (website hidden)

  • Our stay was great, and Michael was very friendly and on top of everything. I wish we had more time to enjoy the wonderful backyard. The chickens & ducks back here were awesome, and so were all the fun little details in the house. The only bad part was the driveway into the house is pretty much on a highway access road, so its a little nerve rattling to get in and out of the place during rush hour. The overall neighborhood is one of the best in Austin, though.

  • A group of us rented Michael's house for a weekend and enjoyed our stay! The keypad on the door made it very convenient for us. The house was clean and has a lot of character. The backyard is very large and has a garden and chickens. We enjoyed sitting on the back patio and listening to music. Michael reached out and made sure everything was fine throughout the weekend which was nice. We all agreed we would stay there again.

  • Staying with Michael was awesome! He has a keypad door so you don't have to worry about key exchange. He was gone most of the time so we kind of had the place to ourselves. He was definitely a guy that I would hang out with, very cool, very down to earth. The place was clean and quaint. He allowed us full use over the fresh eggs from his urban backyard garden. The room was great, big bed, every channel on the big flat screen you can imagine. My friend from the area said she had never stayed anywhere so close to 6th street and downtown before. It is literally walking distance or a very short car ride. I highly recommend staying with Michael if you get the chance!

About
I'm an outgoing 32 year old gentlemen. I love traveling, food, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, music, animals, sports, and gambling. I own five small businesses and employ over 150 pp. I'm more familiar with my city ( Austin Texas ) than most and consider myself a fine host. Treat others as you want to be treated. I'm very active and spend alot of time outdoors taking part in many sports and leisure activities. Besides Austin my favorite places are, (in no particular order ) Lake Tahoe, Santa Cruz California, Costa Rica, New York City, and Las Vegas. I like to read, cook, garden, and farm. We have a sustainable garden and urban farm on property that partially sustains one of my restaurants. Don't worry, no crowing roosters in the morning, just hens and ducks. Besides being a fine host I'm also a great guest. I'm a pleasure to be around, funny, keep a tidy environment for the most part, cook, and am one of the least selfish people I know. My life motto is "The most important thing you will ever do in life is what you are doing right now."
