This cozy apartment is conveniently located within walking distance of Takoma Metro station (red line). Or take the bus directly from our corner to the station - it's quick, only 4 or 5 minutes. Normally it is a 20-25 minute METRO ride to downtown areas including Union Station, U.S. Capitol Building, Silver Spring as well as major tourist attractions. If you do not have any Airbnb host reviews simply send a message with a brief intro about yourself and what brings you to Washington. Last minute travel plans? That's okay too. Simply email or phone via Airbnb.

Frequently called, "The Berkeley of the East' Takoma Park DC is a unique enclave with an interesting history (Victorian gentry, abolitionists, socialists, 7th Day Adventists, spiritualists, anti-nukes and hippies), has a village vibe and is more bohemian than the rest of Washington. Many writers, artists & photographers, potters & jewelry designers, musicians singers & dancers and those working in the healing arts reside in our little hamlet.

Within easy walking distance is Takoma's Old Town (business-dining-shopping). Places to visit include Cedar Crossing Tavern & Wine Bar, Mark's Kitchen, Olive Lounge, Middle Eastern Restaurant, Roscoe's, Capital Cheesecake, Souper Girl, Now and Then, House of Musical Traditions, Year Round Sunday Farmer's Market, Willow Street Yoga, the Dance Exchange and more.

I look forward to making your Washington holiday, business trip or relocation a happy and positive experience. If you have any questions, or concerns please send an e-mail for a quick response.

  • Ellen was a great host by being informative, friendly and always ready to help. The pre bought metro card was a great touch and made things go smoothly in my transition to life in DC. She showed me around the first day and acquainted me with the Takoma Park area which was very useful. Also, the short walk to and from the metro was convenient. I would recommend staying with Ellen.

  • As my first Airbnb experience, Ellen was a great host and her place proved to be an extremely comfortable and carefree stay. I had the pleasure of speaking with Ellen multiple times during my time there and had a great time getting to know about her and the surrounding community. Highly recommended for anyone planning on being in the DC area for a period of time!

  • Ellen is an amazing host. She was very attentive to me and all of my requests/needs were taken care of.

The apartment is fantastic for a single traveler. It is very clean, and provides all the things any person would need for a short stay or an extended stay.

  • Ellen was a wonderful hostess. She was very helpful in providing suggestions for our daily excursions to DC. We enjoyed staying in her house. We did, however, find the walk from the local metro station challenging some nights after a full day's adventuring in DC. We just never seemed to be able to time our trip back to Ellen's house around the bus schedules.

  • My grandson and I stayed at Ellen's place for 2 days. She was a very gracious host. The room/apartment was nicely decorated, in a nice neighbourhood. If I ever made another trip out to DC, I'd love to stay with her again.
This was far superior to staying at a hotel!

  • We loved staying with Ellen. The apartment was wonderful! We were gone for a long trip and it felt like a home away from home. The location is very close to the Takoma Red Line Metro station and the walk was not difficult. For runners the location is close to the Sligo Creek Trail. This is a very nice, shaded location to run. Since we were there in the summer we appreciated the shade. Ellen was very helpful in telling us how to get around to the metro and grocery stores. She has a lot of helpful reference material in the apartment. All in all we very much enjoyed are stay in with Ellen and would do it again.

The place was top notch, would do again!

  • This is a very comfortable location in Takoma Park, DC. Ellen offers a private suite, with a full-sized bed, kitchen, shower and much more. This is an IDEAL location for visiting professionals, as well as couples coming to the area.

The proximity to the METRO connects this location to all that DC has to offer. In just minutes, you can be anywhere throughout the region.

Ellen is a perfect hostess. Charming, well-informed and very hospitable. You couldn't ask for a better ambassador for your visit to DC. I highly recommend this location as one of the best on airbnb.
