The space
Our home is filled with rustic, mountain architecture, but decorated in a comfy, modern style. Black Bear Lodge is the quintessential mountain retreat with all the luxury you could want. **Bunkhouse Cottage now available!** inquire for details.

This mountain hide-away is truly magical. Explore our six forested and private acres, in the Sierra National Forest. We have a very large, fully enclosed dog park, new this year! Enjoy our brand new hot tub underneath the stars after a day of exploring the nearby National Park. Our outdoor amenities also include a propane BBQ, picnic tables, hammocks and fire pit (weather permitting). For our equestrian travelers, your horses will be as pampered and comfortable as you are in our four stall barn (some with automatic water), turn out pasture, round pen and tack room.

Our area also abounds in hiking opportunities (some within walking distance of our home). A dozen or so trailheads are within about ten miles of the property. Of course, some of the most spectacular trails are also within easy driving distance in the National Park. Our all season home has natural attractions year round. In the summer, the mountain ambience can't be beat with warm days and cool nights. In the fall, the trees in our area are nothing short of gorgeous, and the most picturesque pumpkins patch imaginable is just down the road, featuring a large pond, farm, picnic area, rustic games, and a beautiful setting that's hard to capture in words. In the winter, the property becomes a snowy wonderland. The wood burning stove is so cozy and charming as you enjoy the falling snow through our two story, gabled windows. And, in the spring, the creeks and rivers are full, and surrounding alpine meadows and mountainsides explode with poppies, lupines, dog woods and other mountain wildflowers. Whichever season you choose to visit Black Bear Lodge, you will be immersed in nature's beauty.

In our home, we include a house binder, chock full of helpful information for you. Included is Yosemite information, details about the house, local restaurants (including our suggestions and favorites), local markets, etc. Also included is our curated list of local experiences ranging from white water rafting, to a local spa day, to four wheeling, to winter activities and many things in between. We also have a list of the ten best hikes in Yosemite. Check out our Airbnb guidebook for an even more extensive list!

For larger parties, or for guests who would like the option of separate spaces, our charming and luxurious Bunkhouse Cottage is available to reserve (contact us for details) adding extra living space. One bedroom, full bath and full kitchen. Sleeps 3. Amenities include Keurig, flat screen tv and wood burning stove. This space is perfect for in-laws, friends, extended family, or anyone who'd like their own space while still close to the rest of the group. Contact owners to arrange. Fee applies.

For guests traveling with horses, our barn may be reserved. Four stalls with stall mats, water and feeders are available, along with tack room, round pen and fenced paddock. Contact owners to reserve either space.

Guest access
The property on six private acres and all amenities are for our guests exclusively. You will not share the property or the hot tub with other guests. The Bunkhouse does not rent separately.

Other things to note
This is our home and we love sharing it with our guests. We welcome all sorts of groups who are visiting to enjoy the amazing region we live in. We are very different from a hotel. We ask that our guests treat our home with respect and take great care of it. If you like to party, drink excessively, etc, this is not a good fit for you. But, we love hosting families, kids, groups of friends and up to two dogs (we will make the occasional exception for a third dog). See information below regarding bringing your dogs.

Black Bear Lodge is a fantastic place to use as a home base to explore Yosemite and the Sierra National Forest, host family get-togethers, group retreats, tiny weddings, honeymoons, etc.

Well behaved, house-broken dogs are welcome with prior approval. Please tell us a little about your dog as soon as possible after booking. You will need to abide by our pet agreement, which includes keeping animals off of all furniture and bedding, and picking up after them in the yard. A non-refundable pet fee will apply for approved doggy guests.
