We had a nice stay at the villa. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfy. Everything is like it looks on the pictures. Make sure to ask Lilik to prepare dinner for you, she is an excellent cook! The surroundings are very dirty, there is garbage everywhere. Also the area is not good for swimming or anything else. If you rent a Scooter you can enjoy the villa and spend the rest of the time somewhere else

We are glad to hear you enjoyed staying at the villa and found the villa met your expectations. You forgot to mention that there was the annual kite festival during your stay, with a lot of debris/rubbish left in the fields in front of the villa from the Kite Festival. Generally the Denpasar township cleaning department comes in the week after a festival to cleanup.

We spent 3 fabulous weeks at Villa Balinda. The house exceeded our expectations - beautiful ocean view from the second floor, spacious living room, lovely garden, and the best swimming pool! The neighborhood was great - tucked away from the main street, quiet, and amongst the locals, a true taste of Bali. (There wasn't any noisy neighbors - not sure what another guest experienced) 3 factors that really made our stay exceptional: 1. Ibu Lilik, the sweetheart house-caretaker/cook. Every guest must request that she make some meals for them - she is one of the best cooks in the world and just the sweetest lady. 2. Agung, the personal driver/tour guide available for hire. He is very thoughtful, super accommodating, and the best company to have around as he takes you to some special places. 3. Kadek, the property manager. He is super responsive and very helpful. The only little hiccup was when the wifi went out, but Kadek immediately provided a mobile hotspot. We loved, loved, loved our time in Bali. We can't wait to go back and stay at Villa Balinda again.

The place is what i call a dream. Close by the sea, unique sunset, spacious, like in very big, yet solitude and indulgence always at your side. Awesome caretaking by Ibu, breakfast as i wish to have it, we as a family couldnt imagine a nicer place in Sanur, cos we like to search our own paths a little of the main roads. Clean, no nyamuk, and again: make sure you are at home for watching the sun to set. 6 stars :)

Getting even to the closest places requires taxi which are really hard to get. Also the neighbouring brothel was really noisy every night, so the place is not ideal for relaxation. On the other hand partying at the house was forbidden, so the place is not ideal for party groups either. Huge plus for the Lilik and the breakfasts and help she provided.

Response from Kadek:
Mikko, you received a very light warning for having daily gatherings of friends til late at night and early the following morning and having more than the number of guests booked stay at the villa. The warning was intended to improve your communication skills to tell us when you're inviting extras, not as deterrent from having fun! This is the thanks I get for being lenient? Mental note: when juveniles from far-flung countries start throwing nightly parties, it may be best to kick them out!

Villa Balindah was absolutely perfect for our needs, travelling with our 2 kids aged 18mths and 5yrs, as well as my mother. The house is light, bright and airy. Beautiful sea views from the first floor windows. We did most of our living in the downstairs outdoor living space where we mostly moved between the pool and the beautiful big dining table for lazy days of swimming, drinking and eating before heading out after 3pm when the sun wasn't so hot. We walked into Sanur on 3 occasions which took about 45 minutes and was an easy enough walk, even for our 5yo. There aren't any places to eat in the immediate vicinity of the villa but we were able to stock the fridge for lunches and eat out for dinner. I preferred the villa's location a bit out of town, as it meant we weren't situated in a tourist trap. Lillek was a beautiful soul to have around. She was so good with the kids and managed to solve all sorts of issues as they cropped up. On days we didn't want to walk into 'town' uber was very easy to order as others have mentioned in their reviews. We often caught an uber to a place called Tootsie's which is situated right on the beachfront. The pool doesn't have a shallow end which might be an issue if you've got kids who aren't confident around water. There are steps leading in though so easy to enter. The downstairs poolside room doesn't have a/c but with a couple of fans was cool enough to sleep. Kadek was prompt in replying to any messages if we had questions but otherwise left us to our own devices. A lovely relaxing place to stay.

General: We are a family of four with two boys in the age of 2 and 4. And indeed we had a great time in this villa enjoying the pool at day and at night or the large living room. You've got a great view from there but also from the ground level at the pool site. Stairs make it easy for the youngest to enter or leave the pool. Service: all people we had contact with were very kind. We asked for mosquito nets, we got those organized. The recommended driver (Agung) is a very nice and tranquil guy with good tips and a fair pricing. Ibu Lilik is a wonderful person which is around 6 days a week to prepare breakfast, organize towels, tidying up etc. Although we are not accustomed with having somebody around ourselves is something we got used to it quite quickly because she has the talent to stay in the background the few occasions she is present at the villa. Don't be mistaken by not asking for a launch or dinner from Ibu Lilik. Her cooking skills are awesome and are already a reason on it's own to come back to the villa! Surroundings: The black fine-grained beach is reachable on shoes within 10-15 minutes. The shore is pretty nice to play with even with children. It has waves from 0,2 to 1,5m depending on the tide and under certain conditions you can even surf. It's different from main Sanur beaches which have less fine-grained sand with a lot of stones and the reef very close by. Though, at high tide the ocean reaches up to the stone fortification which makes it impossible to play in the sand. So, we just kept an eye on the tides and really enjoyed it especially in the afternoon hours when the sun is not so strong. We often had a walk to Sanur downtown for dinner. We could travel between Sanur downtown and the villa e.g. for shopping using Uber which costs about 30.000Rp per ride or 2€. Pinpointing your location via GPS makes it pretty easy for the driver to find the villa. Events: If you travel to the villa during Aug-Oct as we did you might be lucky to be on site for the kite festivals taking place on the dried rice paddies between the house and the ocean which are pretty astonishing events (just (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) "bali kite festival 2017" for dates).

Born and raised in Bali, I pursued tertiary education in New Zealand and Canada and returned to Bali in 2005. I manage Bali Eco Tours, and initially set up this AirBnB account to help my mum (born in NZ, has lived in Bali for over 40 years) get guests for her BnB. I slowly added other holiday homes around Bali belonging to our friends and family, and now have quite a portfolio.
