The house was perfect for us as vacationers in Toronto. It was close to the subway and buses. It had an enormous, upscale grocery store two blocks away. The house was very clean and well maintained and had a complete house guide to refer to if questions arose. I corresponded with Alex several times before the trip, and he was very helpful in answering my questions about navigating and exploring Toronto.
I would say that this was one of the best experiences I have had in regards to accommodation. It was not just the place (which was amazing) but also the personalized service we received. I received very prompt replies to my initial queries and Alx was most patient in answering my questions and assessing the needs for my party.
First, prior to my arrival, I received a house manual which details everything about the house and more (including recommendations as to where to eat and what to do). This was unexpected.
I also had a few emails introducing Jenn who acted as Alx's concierge as he was away as well as to check in about our arrival so that she could be waiting at the house for us. Alx took the trouble to ensure that the cleaner be extra thorough about the cleaning as one of my party was an asthmatic.
When we arrived, Jenn was there and had made the house nice and warm, which was much appreciated as we arrived on a blustery and cold morning. She walked us through the house and made sure we knew all we needed to know about it and availed her time to us should we run into problems. She had also prepared 3 sets of keys so that each of us could have a set each.
Now about the place. As described, it is a beautiful 3 storey townhouse located 10min from the heart of downtown in a very safe and quiet area. It was located less than 5 min to Wellesey station and is near a big Loblaws supermarket. It had a beautiful and warm fireplace which we used quite alot in our stay. There was a very functional kitchen which we used extensively. A dishwasher helped with the dishes. Alx had supplied us with a complimentary welcome basket with food, wine, beer. Also there were condiments for cooking, drinks that we were welcome to as well. Basically, we had everything we needed except for the food that we had wanted to cook.
The 2nd floor had 2 bedrooms. There was one with 2 single beds and the other was actually a study with a pullout. The pullout was already pulled out all ready for us as Alx knew we had 3 in our party and had wanted a room each! Unfortunately, the pullout was too saggy and uncomfortable as most pullouts are. We pulled one of the single beds over from the other bedroom and we were sorted. The 3rd level was the master with a walkin wardrobe, a jacuzzi bath and a ultra comfortable bed. The sheets were superb and of the highest quality cotton. The towels were branded luxurious as well. There was hand soap, moisturizer, body soap, shampoo and conditioner, even hair gel (which I really appreciated) like you would expect from a 5 star hotel. Never used the jacuzzi as I am really not keen to waste water but the bathroom with it's natural skylight was amazing.
Electronics: There were 3 LCD TVs, one in the living, one in the study and one in master. There were 2 boxees, 1 apple TV hooked up to the owners NAS drive which had quite a nice variety of shows. Also there was a bluray with a couple of bluray discs in the living room. Overall, very nice and I could not have done better myself. There was also a Mac Pro in the study hooked up to a color printer so we could work as needed. Wifi signal was strong in the house as the router was on the 2nd level. Broadband speeds were fast and beyond reproach.
We encountered some small problems and Jenn was very prompt in attending to our queries, even arranging for the cleaner to come in to do an additional cleaning session. There will always be problems with houses but the main thing for us is the manner in which the problems were resolved and dealt with that made the difference for us.
All in, my party agrees that we should give a 5 star rating for not just the property and it's location but also for the excellent service that our host gave us. If I visit Toronto again, I will definitely stay with Alx again. None better in my humble opinion.
Excellent experience all around. The townhouse was exactly as advertized and outfitted with everything one could need and more. Alex was super communicative throughout the process and stay. Would recommend the place and Alex without reservation.
Beautiful place and great location. Great communication with host and concierge. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend to anyone.
