Beautiful home, located in a very quite and safe area. Maria's husband Joffre greeted us upon arrival and showed us the home. This is ideal for those that are independent and can get around on their own. Access to public transportation was easy and close by. Taxis and Uber are another option. Locating it was a bit troublesome, but the host provided the phone number to assist in finding it. I highly recommend this house.

Our host was gracious and quick to respond to any issues or needs we had. The location was ideal, it was close to the San Jose bus stop and just a 10 minute walk from supermarkets, coffee shops, pharmacies and restaurants. I would note that Zamka hardly feels like a hostel; despite the shared living spaces, the hosts do not live in the building. We ended up taking out the garbage, buying kitchen soap and sponges, and doing our own laundry. We didn't mind the extra expenses, and the added independence was quite enjoyable, it's just something to take into account before you book. Our accommodations were relatively clean but could have been kept up a bit better.

The location of the apartment is very convenient, with easy walking distance to shops and restaurants. We felt safe in the neighborhood and easily walked everywhere! Pros: Maria's husband showed up to let us in pretty quickly each time we arrived (we stayed here two separate times in one week). The kitchen's fully stocked, towels are provided, and most beds were comfortable (sister couldn't sleep well on the single in Room #2). The patio views are beautiful! Cons: Some wiring came loose in the second bathroom when one of my friends was showering and started sending sparks across the shower. She got out unharmed, but that was on the unpleasant side. We couldn't figure out if that was why there was no hot water. Maybe we couldn't follow Maria's husband's Spanish well? We saw some large bugs in other locations we stayed in Costa Rica, but there was a frighteningly large cockroach that appeared in the kitchen a few times.

Overall good place to stay - I didn't meet Maria because she was in the hospital, but her husband was nice and showed me around. Only downside was that we had to call and wait for someone to let us in when we first arrived; it would have been better if someone was there already.

Jeffra was very kind, but we do not speak Spanish so it was difficult to understand what he was saying when we arrived. However, we still appreciate his efforts! The neighborhood was conveniently located near San Pedro and felt relatively safe. The listing was very accurate, and the only downside is that the complex was loud late at night sometimes. This is a great place to stay if you speak Spanish fluently or want to be independent, but a bit challenging if you are looking for more guidance.

The host made us feel very welcome and gave us a nice tour of the place. The place was ok, nothing too fancy. However, the bedspread had stains on it and the showers were very very very cold and did not warm up. One of the guests was smoking in the house, which made it smell.
