Extra spacious

Guests love this home’s spaciousness for a comfortable stay.
The perfect destination for your Charlottesville visit in the hip neighborhood of Belmont, where you can read on the loggia with great views or in the hot tub on the patio. From this modern home, you can walk to the best restaurants the city has to offer as well as the popular Downtown Mall and IX Art Park. The University of Virginia and Monticello are each just a short drive, and the home is convenient to the Monticello Wine Trail and Skyline Drive. See below for link to basement apt. listing.

The space
There are a few stairs on your way to the keyless entry at both the back and front doors. There are two reserved parking spaces on the side of the house, with easy access to the back door. There you'll find our patio, complete with a new, luxurious hot tub that seats 6. Note that our hot tub is located in a courtyard, but our elderly neighbor rarely ventures outside after dark. There is an open concept living/dining/kitchen area on the main floor, which includes a half bath with Sonos sound system throughout the home. The sofa folds out into a queen sized bed and both upstairs bedrooms are furnished with queen beds and comfortable memory foam mattresses. There are hardwood floors throughout, two bedrooms and two full bathrooms upstairs (guest bathroom has a large walk in shower, master bath contains tub). You'll find storage space in closets in both upstairs bedrooms. Our master bedroom has double doors that open up to a modern loggia that overlooks Belmont (including the historic coal tower) and area mountain views. The loggia has a fridge and we have just added a coffee station to our primary bedroom, so you can enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast outdoors. On the main floor, you'll find an updated kitchen with stainless steel fridge, dishwasher, and another coffee maker. There is a 50" Smart TV and high speed Ting internet. Although we don't have cable, you can access Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, YouTube and other streaming sites from the Roku stick on our smart TV.

We have just recently added a new kitchen table and chairs and just installed a new stove/oven (Jan 2021).

The home is perfect for a getaway for up to six, but please note there are only 2 private bedrooms.

See the listing below for the separate basement apartment (Modern Belmont Home - steps from Downtown).

As mentioned above, there are two reserved spaces in the back/side of the house, and there is typically plentiful street parking as well. You may NOT park in the Belmont Lofts parking lot or in the other reserved spaces in the back of the house.

Please note that do have a security camera of the exterior of the home, on the front porch and another that is focused on the parking area for the upstairs home. The cameras are motion activated and record audio and video.

Guest access
You'll have access to the private patio and tub in the back and the main floor and upstairs of the home. The basement is a separate apartment, with its own entrance. You will not have access to this basement.

Other things to note
We live near a train, but it is incredibly quiet! We rarely even hear it unless we are outside on our loggia or on the back patio. Because of our proximity to the hospital, the train must go slowly and is not allowed to sound any whistles, so you may not even know it is there. What you usually hear are the sounds of birds chirping and the faint hum of music when bands play at the Amphitheater on the Downtown Mall.

This is our home, and though we try to remove many personal belongings while you are staying there, you may see that we have some things in the home in a few drawers or closets. There is plentiful room in all closets and drawers for you to use to store your belongings.

Our neighbors are terrific and many will happily tour you around their gardens or welcome you to the neighborhood.

Neighborhood highlights

We are steps away from incredible food, entertainment and surrounded by beautiful gardens and eclectic homes. There is a beautiful green space and community garden just across the street. Less than one block away are the best restaurants you'll find on the East Coast! Mas Tapas is our favorite for dinner! Other incredible restaurants in Downtown Belmont include Junction, The Local, Tavola, Southern Crescent (New Orleans style). The popular Lampo Neopolita Pizzeria is just around the corner, next to the Bridge Progressive Arts Initiative. The IX Art Park is an easy walk and we love grabbing lunch or breakfast at Brazo's Tacos.

The Downtown Mall, the IX Art Park, and the up-and-coming Carlton Business & Arts District are each only about a 10 minute walk from our home.

We've never had a bad experience on the downtown mall, we love every place! Splendora's is our favorite spot for dessert, and they make their own delicious and seasonal gelato. Alley Light has some of the best food and drinks on the East Coast, and has a cool, speakeasy vibe. The Nook is a great spot or a traditional American breakfast or lunch. C&O Restaurant is a great pick for cool ambiance. We love going to Violet Crown cinema for dinner and a movie (don't miss their brussel sprouts with bacon).
