A lovely triple windowed with a view onto the joys of the garden in all seasons. A cosy Scandinavian log fire is the focal point of the room
My beautiful house dates from 1857 and is 5 minutes walk from the centre of town in a quiet conservation area. The room itself is on the ground floor and is a large spacious room with three very large windows facing the garden with a double bed and a single sofa bed and a double sofa bed and a desk. The room is bright and sunny.
There's also a new fully tiled double electric shower and double sink in the private ensuite bathroom.
There is also a piano in your room
There's also a real cosy Scandinavian stove in the room and the fuel is provided free of charge.
The price includes towels and bedding and broadband, fuel, and local taxes. The house has a garden, with free car parking one minute's walk from the house. You will also have access to my large, well equipped kitchen/living room.
Continental breakfast is included on a help yourself basis
Captain Scott's ship The Discovery travelled to the Antarctic before finally coming to rest at the waterfront in Dundee and now forms part of a fascinating exhibition on the Antarctic and Captain (website hidden) the Verdant Works you can visit a real jute mill from the past and hear the stories retold by the descendants of the spinners and weavers of Dundee.
The Playwright Restaurant is, in my opinion, the best restaurant in Dundee and the great Cafe Sicilia - a taste of warm Italian cafe hospitality in Dundee. Dundee Contemporary Arts Centre is a short walk away, and hosts exhibitions from international artists, courses and workshops, and has two cinemas which shows the best foreign films, and some great classics as well! The university is within walking distance too.
My home is a great place for you to start exploring Dundee!
guests have access to a well equipped kitchen and the garden
Interaction with Guests
I interact as much with the guests as they want me to but I try to see them at least once a day and check everything is ok

Beautiful room with gorgeous wood-burning stove. Very comfortable, warm bed.
Host is friendly and welcoming.
My stay was very short but I found the experience quirky and unique.
Kathleen is a very nice and kind person. I had initially asked for a double bedroom that was not available for the dates I needed but she managed to set me in this lovely triple bedroom instead, with a very comfortable bed and an ensuite bathroom. I am only sorry I had to work and could not spend more time chatting with her and the other hosts, who all were very nice. Her house is big and cozy, she definitely loves it and tries her best to make her hosts happy. Would definitely recommend to other people.
Kathleen is an interesting person made me feel welcome. Woodburner in the room (with fuel included) was a lovely touch and piano usefull too. Short distance from the centre so was very handy for me. Bed was a little soft for my liking but very comfortable. The room had a homely feel but I'd say the hall and kitchen were more functional and reminiscent of my first shared student accomodation - I enjoyed the company of the other residents so this wasn't a problem for me - and thanks to Natasha too for providing me with some cooking condiments!
Kathleen was an interesting and friendly host. However the room looked nothing like the pictures and the written description was very misleading. It was cluttered with personal belongings looking more like an untidy student's room. The student theme was replicated in the scruffy kitchen, we went out for breakfast both mornings. The ensuite floor was dirty, there was an unwashed dressing gown hanging beside the sink and the shower was weak. On arrival the garden and the front drive looked like a building site with pieces of old furniture and rubble lying around. On the whole a very disappointing and unpleasant experience, we were very tempted to stay with my daughter in her student accommodation for the second night. I will be complaining to airBnB
Thanks for your feedback and I'm sorry you did not enjoy your stay. Airbnb was originally intended to allow guests to share in another persons home. This does mean that there may be personal possessions in your bedroom and the room will not be like a hotel where there will be no sense that you are sharing a persons home. An impersonal space can certainly be guaranteed in a hotel but I feel that the charm of airbnb is that you are in a persons home without the anonymity of a hotel. I'm sorry that was not what you were looking for.Thank you for your feedback I did ask you during your stay if everything was ok several times and received none of this feedback which I would have appreciated at the time and would even have moved you to another room if that would have made you happier.
Kathleen's place is nice, airy and with lots of light. She is really friendly and goes out of her way to help you out. On one rainy day she even dropped us at the bus stand. Her house is a little far from the city centre and has a steep slope up.

I think the most important thing in life is to never say anything to another person that could not stand as the very last thing you ever said to that person and that friendship is the most important thing in life.
