Sunny apartment in Williamsburg NYC

Apartment - Entire home/apt · S 9th St, Brooklyn, NY 11211, United States

The Space

This is a spacious, sunlight filled apartment in Williamsburg part of Brooklyn, just across the river from Manhattan, a great alternative to overpriced hotels. It has two separate fully furnished bedrooms with king size beds. The apartment has wooden floors, big windows and wireless Internet. There’s a fully equipped dine-in kitchen with a stove, oven, fridge and – the real deal in NYC – a washer and a dryer!

There is no smoking in the apartment. I have maps and guidebooks for you to borrow. Clean bed sheets and towels will be waiting for you!

The apartment is located one station from Manhattan, two blocks from Williamsburg Bridge, where you can take a walk with stunning views of Manhattan. Marcy Avenue subway station (J M lines going downtown and uptown respectively) is within a 5-minute walk and in 15 minutes you can get to Bedford Avenue stop on L line. The area is filled with trendy restaurants, cafes and bars and Bedford Avenue dubbed 'the hipster central' is basically round the corner.

If you are interested, please write a few lines of who you are and why you are coming to New York and include any questions you might have. But please read the whole description of the apartment first.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Joanna's apartment has two bright and spacious bedrooms that are flooded with sunlight throughout the day. The neighbourhood is tranquil and excellently placed for access to the M train (5 mins walk) and L Train (10-12 mins walk). We had near zero fahrenheit while we were in town yet the apartment was always nice and warm as was the hot water in the excellent shower.

Arrival and departure all went well and we found the apartment in good condition and professionally prepared with clean sheets and towels.

Next time we come back to Williamsburg we'll definitely be in touch with Joanna.

  • Joanna was an excellent host throughout the whole process. She was friendly and easily contactable. She went above and beyond to help us get settled in her apartment.
The apartment itself was in great condition. The bedrooms were quite spacious and had a beautiful amount of light during the day. It was situated very close to a subway station and was about a 2 minute walk from Williamsburg bridge. While not exactly in the heart of hipster Williamsburg, it certainly was a short walk from it.
A great place to stay to get to know New York.

  • Joanna is a great host and a truly kind and funny person! I only have good things to say about her way of accommodating us during our stay and she was a true lifesaver to take us in one night before our booking started when we had no place to sleep.
I stayed at the apartment for almost 4 months and felt right at home in the well equipped kitchen. Awesome location close to the M & J train which made my midtown commute very convenient. The area itself is just a stones throw away from the restaurant and bar heavy Bedford avenue. During the spring/summer it was also great to be close to the water and the east river ferry for a nice relaxing boat ride over to manhattan.
The street is fairly quiet to be New York and I had no problem sleeping with an open window, which often was a necessity as the apartment tends to get pretty warm.
All in all, I'm glad I had the opportunity to stay for such a long time in an amazing location and a great apartment. Most of all a big thanks to Joanna for making us feel welcome and she is definitely someone I hope to see over a beer when I come back to visit!

  • The apartment is charming, it's well located, and everything went smoothly. I would definitely come back.

  • The apartment is exactly like it is described, so just one stop to Manhattan with the subway and in the middle of Williamsburg, a great place to eat, drink and shop. The neigborhood felt also quite safe, we had a car and could park it on the side of the streets for free the whole time (you just have to move it on the other side, when there is a cleaning day).
The apartment was very tidy and clean, we had a lots of tourist guides to choose one (we came rather unprepared). Joanna was a great host, gave us a lot of helpful advice and it was really great to get to know her. We booked also on very short notice and everythink worked out fine, its very easy to communicate with her.
The internet was very fast and Joanna gave us also access to her netflix account.
You can't lock the door of your room and the bathroom door, but it didn't really bother us.
It was a great stay, thanks so much Joanna.

  • The location is really convenient - only a short walk to the many bars and restaurants of Williamsburg and only one stop to Manhattan - and the place was very clean and tidy and had everything we needed.
Joanna is extremely easy to communicate with so that everything worked out perfectly!
It's a little bit noisy at night but I suppose this is generally the case in NYC. It's definitely great value for money.

  • We loved Joanna's apartment. Firstly she was a great host - good communication and flexible which was much appreciated.

The flat is in a good location, in a bustling area that feels real and not too full of hipsters, just a nice normal neighbourhood.

Joanna left the place spic and span, really clean with clear instructions of what we needed to do with keys, laundry, rubbish etc, plus she left loads of info about New York which was much appreciated as well.

We had the entire apartment which was lovely, the rooms are nice and spacious and get a lot of light.

It can be quite noisy outside, we were there in July so it was absolutely boiling and the windows had to be open, so the noise comes up from the street, but I found that using ear plugs completely remedied this.

Otherwise the place felt safe and secure and was a good base to explore the city, so close to Manhattan. I went out to the beach via Jamaica station which is on the same subway line as Marcy Avenue station so it's an easy journey. Also getting from JFK airport couldn't be easier.

The flat is really close to the trendy places to eat and drink, also near a small park and boardwalk which looks across the water to Manhattan, lovely views.

All in all a great place to stay, I would definitely recommend Joanna as a host and her apartment as a holiday rental.

  • We had a great time staying at Joanna's.
She was a perfect host and left us guidebooks, a telephone to use and instructions on how to use the apartment. Even though she wasn't there, we managed to pick the key up without any problems.

The location is great for a few reasons:

it is very close to the Williamsburg Bridge so cab drivers from Manhattan won't get lost. (for some bizarre reason, most of them don't seem to know where they are going)

It is also close to several subway stops that will take you either into manhattan or other nice parts of Brooklyn, and a 10 minute walk to the Bedford L stop.

The bedrooms were both clean and tidy, and the beds were comfortable.
The curtains in the apartment are not very heavy, so if you don't like the light in the morning it may be an idea to take an eye mask.
Having said that, we had glorious sunshine for a whole week which really is nothing to complain about.

  • What can I say? This place was everything we needed and more on our trip. Joanna's house is spacious, clean, light and well located, with easy access to the JMZ subway line, as well as a short walk from the L train on Bedford. Joanna left great instructions and maps of local things to do and see and eat, and the communication was very good. The house is in the southern area of Williamsburg but if you are looking for the bustling cafe district then it's only a five minute walk. There is also easy access to downtown Brooklyn via the bus.

Joanna's house is very spacious by New York City standards, with two bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom. It was very clean. Joanna made lots of space for us as well. As we were a family with a five year old it was great to have enough room to let our son play.

The house is nice and simple, but very accommodating. It was great to have a washer/drier as well. Everything was as Joanna described and she was very open and flexible as we were working out our plans. I would definitely stay there again, if the chance came up. It made for a great base for trips to Manhattan etc.

Thank you Joanna for offering your place.
