A Bargain Apartment in a Great Location My husband and I have spent 22 nights at Inés’ apartment on Avenue Vicente López. We arrived by ship and took a taxi from the port to the apartment where Inés was waiting for us. Inés helped us get our luggage up the flight of stairs. She showed how to light the burners on the stove and the oven. She also gave us each a set of keys and showed us how to open the exterior door to the building and to open the apartment door. She gave us her cell and home phone number and was available by email throughout our stay. Since we were here for three weeks, her cleaning lady came once a week to change the linens and to clean the apartment. This apartment is located on the second floor of a 40 – 50 year old building. The apartment has large windows in the living/dining area, the kitchen, and in the bedroom. These windows let in light, but they do not open and they face interior light wells. The windows in the living area and the bedroom have blackout drapes. The window in the kitchen does not have drapes. It is fairly quiet at night and we slept very well. The bed is very comfortable. There are air conditioners in both the living room and the bedroom. They have remote controls to set the desired temperature and fan speeds. The water from the faucets is very good and we chilled our refillable water bottles; that saved us lots of money. We also saved lots of money by not eating out. There is a Carrefour supermarket less than a block away. There are also lots of fresh produce stalls on the different side streets. The produce there is fresh and tasty! The neighborhood always felt safe. We were always able to catch radio taxis to get to places in the city. It was an easy walk to the Recoleta Cemetery and to two different shopping malls. My favorite shop was a gluten-free bakery on Avenue Juncal called Gout. Another benefit of the apartment is the reliable high-speed internet. We were not streaming movies, but we did post lots of pictures to (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) and watched Youtube videos. We mostly used the TV to follow CNN news. Buenos Aires Tourism has free, guided walks every day of the week. If you visit their site, you can see that you can reserve a place on the walk. Some guides were better than ever, but we had a chance to visit 7 different areas. It asks you to book, but there is no charge. There are also other very good free walking tours. If you do a search on the computer you will find them. There is no charge, but they suggest you offer a tip for what you think the value of the tour is. There were a few negatives to this apartment. The sofa and the chairs are not very comfortable...

Host was abroad when we arrived. Her son greeted us and helped take our luggage up flight of stairs. Gave us the keys and left. The apartment is located in an old building. It was painted recently. Had some issues, as: 1. Kitchen faucet completely loose and there was dripping water under the sink 2. Loose door handles, specially in the bath door, which they came off. Door had to be slammed to close. That made the door loose from the wall surrounding it. 3. Placards doors in the bedroom had sharp screws sticking from the knobs and stretched our arms several times while we stayed 4. Two of the dining room chairs were loose when sitting they rocked back and forth 5. In the kitchen, some utensils were broken or rusted, like the screw opener and the colander 6. The refrigerator had no internal light. Ines was accommodating with my wife's needs. Like more towels, a new table cloth (the one at the house was old and dirty) Also she provided us with more placemats and kitchen towels The apartment is located in one of the best locations in Recoleta, with all sorts of stores, where you can find foods, supermarket, restaurants, take away foods, etc, etc. Too bad its in an old building and there is no elevator. It could be advantageous for younger folks but not for us, that we are in the 70s and/or with spine problems.

Ines was incredibly responsive to messages and emails as I got ready for my trip. She was flexible with check-in and even coordinated with my friend who lives nearby to drop the key off with her. The apartment is in a wonderful, safe, bustling but quiet neighborhood in Recoleta near gorgeous little shops, supermarkets, cheese stores, gelato, etc. The apartment has high ceilings and is simple but comfortable. All the windows overlook internal courtyards, which helps keep it quiet. It is an old building, so there are some noises associated with pipes etc. but nothing major. I enjoyed my time at the apartment and in this lovely neighborhood.

Wonderful apartment. Grade kitchen. Inés was great. Great communication. She was always available for any needs that I had, and she spent over an hour helping me with a problem (unrelated to the apartment) spending not only her time but her money to help me. What a great host!
