Room with Cadaques/Dalí theme mural

House - Private room · Passatge dels Ciutadans, Barcelona, Catalonia 08005, Spain

The Space

We offer you a comfortable artistic room in a big two story house in a small, quiet street in the heart of the old Poblenou neighborhood, during your stay in Barcelona.
A Cadaques/Salvador Dali-themed mural on the big wall gives your room a surrealistic view on Cadaques bay.

The room is fully furnished with a double bed, a big table, two chairs, a dresser, a heater or fan (according to season). The room comes with a set of clean bedding and fresh towels.
Keys to house and room.

The room is on ground level and has a window with frosted glass that gives on the street, to let sun and fresh air in. A climbing plant in front of the window adds green and privacy.

Perfect for one person, friends or a couple. Max. ocupancy of 2 people.

The house: a big two story house a block away from metro Poblenou, buses, night bus, Bicing, the tram, shops, supermarkets, park with basketball, ping pong tables and petanque.
The Mar Bella/Bogatell/Nova Icaría beaches are a short stroll down c/Bilbao or the tree-lined Rambla de Poblenou. You can get to the center within 10 minutes with the Metro.

For 20 years, the house was a lamp factory called Blue Moon. The last four years it has been getting converted to an artistic living space. The large reception/lamp exhibition space is now the living room, with big mirrored sliding doors to the kitchen. Next to that is the bathroom, which is shared.

There is a large sunny kitchen that allows visitors to prepare their own meals. You will have cupboard space of your own and share a fridge with other travelers. There is also a laundry machine that you can use.

Outside the kitchen is a sunny patio with plants, chairs, table and BBQ.

Behind the entrance is the artist studio/workshop and where I live/work with my fiancé, a carpenter, and our dogs. We are still in construction mode in that space and, though we have our own toilet and camping kitchen in there, we have no hot water and hence we will go up sometimes to do the dishes and shower there. Normally we do this when the guests are out sightseeing.
We will be on call for whatever questions or problems you may have during your stay, and we hope to show you a bit of Barcelona, our favorite city!

Internet is increasingly important, whether you are just traveling or also working remote. Just last month fiber optic cable got installed in the neighborhood, and we made sure this house got connected to it. We now have a 50 mega connection to ensure speedy access even if a lot of people in the house are using their computers, tablets etc. There is a house laptop in the living room that guests are welcome to use. All access codes are posted.
Also, for trans-Atlantic travelers, we have an American-European power converter.

If you have a car, you can park it for free on a lot near by, or for a fee on the streets.
Bicycles, baby carriages etc. can be safely parked in the entrance.

Welcome to the Sunflower House! :)

  • We had a very nice stay at Nikola's place. She is very friendly and has a great knowledge of Barcelona. The rooms and the house are great, and it is located in a good area. We would definitely book again if we return to Barcelona !!!

  • Good value! Our experience started off very positively with our very detailed directions provided by Nikola via public transport. After a long trip it was a relief to get where we were going so smoothly. Great location (10 minute walk to the beach and 2 minute walk to the metro!)! It's a cool and very open space. Kitchen and balcony are shared with host and other guests. We fortunately had the place to ourself as we happened to be the only guests there that night. We had the room with the study, which was nice and private, loved the skylight! I left a shirt there, which was special to me, and Nikola emailed me and offered to send it, very nice! Nikola offered info. on places to eat and other info. in town as well as provided a great assortment of guidebooks. Thanks again Nikola!

  • I stayed with Nikola and Mustafah for 4 nights in Barcelona. The room was just as described. The kitchen was well equipped and convenient to cook in with spices and teas available on the house. The bathroom was small but functional. Being the only one between 3 rooms, it is wise to plan your bathroom usage time with other guests if other rooms are occupied. The best part was spending time with our hosts and their 2 dogs as well as meeting their friends , making interesting conversation and jamming with one of them.

  • Although the stay was short, it was very pleasant and Nikola was helpful. She helped us find the parking lot in the evening. The room is as described and the house feels welcoming.

  • Thank you Nikola for having us:)
We had a great time staying at Nikola's place. We had a car, she showed us good place to park for free!
Also explained all directions and gave us a lot of good informations regarding Barcelona.
She is a nice person, very helpful. Our room was lovely, comfortable bed, fan and of course, because of the mural on the wall.
We were just staying for 2 nights, I wish we could be there a bit longer. We could made there own food, laundry. We had a high speed internet.
We met at her place some very nice ppl. Cheers:)
    Thank you very much.
Definitely recommend this place to stay.

  • A very charming place and very well located. It is near the beach, near metro stations and with a pleasant neighborhood. Nikola, her husband and her friend Claudia are lovely and helpful people. I feel lucky to have stayed there. I highly recommend.

  • We stayed in the Cadaques/Dali theme room at Nikola's for 4 days/3 nights. The room is exactly as described: cozy and well equipped. The house is very close to the Poblenou metro station, almost 2 minutes lightly walking toward it, and 15 minutes to the Mar Bella beach. The house is located in a very quiet neighborhood (which helps a lot if you travel heavily by day and get tired). The kitchen is fully equipped and gives you the possibility to make yourself a tea thank to the kindness of Nikola.
Nikola is a very pleasant and welcoming host, very nice and helpfull; she can give you the best advice about the town and also about the other activities or places to see.
Overall, staying at Nikola's was a good deal and we are very happy about this outcome.
Next time we will be in Barcelona we will definitely stay again at her place.
    Best regards

  • The stay at Sunflower House was a pleasure! Nikola and Mustapha are very friendly and warm people, who were able to answer us any question and give us any help or advice we needed. Our room was small but comfortable and the location is perfect, since it's quiet but you can reach any place in Barcelona in a short time and only need a few minutes to the beach or the metro.
And, you always have the chance to talk to the hosts or other guests in the large kitchen.

If you want to make a trip to Barcelona, Sunflower house is a good place to stay. We will come back :-)

  • We had a great time staying at the Sunflower House for a long weekend! It is in the perfect location near the beach and out of the hustle and bustle of the city. Nikola was a great host and was able to answer any questions we had.

About
I am an artist of Dutch origin. I have lived in Paris, Geneva, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Oakland. I have been in Barcelona for 12 years now: this is a beautiful and inspiring city to live in... and visit! I make paintings, drawings, sculptures, lamps, piñatas and more in the studio on the ground floor. Unfortunately I will away the next few months on a job in France, so my friend Vincent and his dog Humphrey will be here to welcome you to the Sunflower House and help you to discover Barcelona.
