Path train is 1 block away as is the mall, out-door ice-skating, grocery, river front dining, movies, river front walk, spa/salon, drugstore, coffee, shopping mall etc... Elevator, doorman, laundry, parking available for fee in parking garage. West Village NYC is a 10 minute train ride, Midtown (33rd street) is between 15 and 20 minutes. I work in the arts. We are lactose intolerant so if you'll need milk you'll have to let me know ahead of time. If you prefer to be provided with dinner instead of breakfast we can do that. Looking forward to meeting you! WE ALSO WELCOME SINGLE PARENTS WITH CHILDREN. THERE IS A GREAT PLAYGROUND DOWN THE STREET.. jungle gym, big slide, and a sand area. Good for kids maybe up to 12. There is also a family friendly diner across the street from the apartment as well as upscale dining/bar down the street.
I had a wonderful stay at Valentine's house. The room (exactly as in picture) being on the top of a highrise, has a wonderful view from the window. The toilet is just next to the room which makes it very easily accessible. Valentine was a great host and the overall ambiance of the house was calm and quite. Since, I was visiting for 2 months on a work trip, I was looking for a place which is calm and quite along with giving enough privacy. This place was exactly like that. It was really nice of her to offer small breakfast goodies everyday.
The place is quite near to New York City itself. The nearby station (Path trains) is about 2 minutes away by walking. And by Path trains, NYC is only one stop away. Even daily commute was not a problem. I would definitely recommend this place for both short term or long term stay.
Across the river to Manhattan (you'll need to catch the PATH train into Manhattan - $30 for a weekly pass), you'll be staying in a Newport (in Jersey City) apartment building with its own security, maintenance staff and receptionist in a clean, quiet, safe and posh area.
The room is clean and warm (much like the hosts), large with wardrobe space, the bed comfortable and your host extremely gracious and accommodating.
The bathroom is also large and bright with a wide mirror and a combination bath-tub/shower, with a strong flow of water and temperature control (that works effortlessly).
Laundry facilities are paid for ($2 per wash/dry each) and next door to the apartment. You're required to use a top up card. However, it's completely safe to leave your laundry unattended (for hours, should you need) without fear of items being stolen. Extremely convenient.
The host and her daughter were really nice and great to have a quick chat with. They'll tell you about places to go if you're unsure.
Definitely good value for money! I would stay there again.
Valentine was an excellent host! Communications and check-in were seamless and she made me feel welcome and at home. When I'm in regular hotels, the Internet is usually very slow. Here, the wireless was fast and rock solid. As a business traveler, that is very much appreciated. I was able to get within two blocks of my meeting for a fraction of the going rate at the local hotels. I was a bit anxious about my first AirBnB experience but after this, I'm looking forward to the next one.
The room itself has ample space and located next to the bathroom which gives you more privacy. The place is in a nice and modern area by the Hudson river where you can enjoy walking or jogging. It's just steps from the PATH train that takes you to Manhattan. Valentine was a great host. I recommend this space.
Very neat and clean place and you get your privacy. Overall the stay was very comfortable and frictionless.I would come back again.
Cherry on the top: breakfast goodies in the morning :)
Perfect location close to the path station. Good host and felt at home.
Valentine is a nice and helpful person. Her place is very close to Manhattan by Path trains but, far to its craziness. Perfect location for visitors of NYC.
I stayed just one night because I had a stopover in NYC. Valentine was very friendly and helpful. It was great that she accepted my last minute request. Her flat is very well-located, close to Manhattan with the PATH train and next to the river, so that you have an amazing view of Manhattan when you follow the walkway along the river, perfect for jogging. Thank you!
The building is just by the side of Hudson river. It means: amazing view of whole Manhattan; cool and fresh wind comes into the window; one train stop to town. And Aprile is very nice and easy going, she kept home being neat and net, and respected your privacy. BTW, I am a male, so I occupied the whole bed room, and the bed is quite comfortable even it was not a queen size one. RECOMMEND IT!
Valentine was a great host. She was easy to contact, responded quickly and was very nice, helpful and reliable. I had a great time in New York and at her place. The apartment is only 3 minutes to walk from the path station and only 1 minute away from the water front, that invites you for a walk or a run along the Hudson river and reveils a wonderful view at the Manhattan Skyline - especially at night. The room is very bright and the bed very comfortable. I loved the cushions!
