The cabin was exactly what we needed. Nice secluded spot nestled in the woods & close to the slopes. Tons of snow this season made it even better. Thanks Jason!
Stayed at the cottage for the long weekend over Presidents Day, with two couples. Location worked out great for skiiing at Stratton. As advertised it was 3 miles to Stratton (Sunbowl -- about 5 miles to main lodge area). Although the cottage is located near to Stratton, it is in a pretty secluded area. If you are visiting in the winter, plan on staying in and hanging by the fire. Overall, we enjoyed our stay!
1. Close proximity to Sunbowl
3. Cabin Charm!
4. List of contacts for emergencies & availability of Jason/Chris
1. Kitchen - Don't expect to make a 5 course meal here - tight space with basic supplies - fine for basics like eggs/pancakes.
2. Driveway - long windy driveway that made backing out and in a challenge. With the snow over the weekend, both of our cars got stuck despite the fact that Jason has the driveway plowed. Was able to get a tow after getting in touch with the housekeeper, Chris. 4-wheel drive is a must if you're heading up during the winter.
3. Plan on having little to no cell service - Verizon carrier had 1 bar. AT&T + TMobile had nothing. There is a phone but you can only make local calls, or else you need a calling card. There is WIFI but very minimal -- good for sending/receiving texts.
Nice cabin/cottage, would recommend a stay here, and I could see us coming back in the summer. Small and rustic, very cute and cozy, our family had a great time here. Despite the frigid temperatures outside and tons of snow (which is obviously why you come to Vermont in February) it was very warm in the cabin, and we had no issues remaining very comfortable. Horrendous driving conditions kept us inside one day, but Jason's vinyl record collection and nice food & drink amongst the family kept us warm all that day. The remaining days we enjoyed phenomenal skiing at Stratton. Great vibe in the cottage, and great attention to detail - cottage is well outfitted with games, music, movies, two heaters, plus the wood stove, etc. Comfy stay and I'd recommend it (in fact I already have told a cousin about it, and shared the link) and like I said, we may be hitting Jason up in the summer for a repeat visit. Thanks for a great stay.
My friends and I arrived to a tremendous snowfall, and Jason managed this effortlessly! We had the perfect stay in Jason's cabin. From the eclectic record collection, to the open air floor plan of the home - we couldn't have been more pleased. The location is extremely convenient to Stratton Mountain Resort, with an incredibly scenic drive. Jason was a great host, very available for our questions and accommodated our needs. We are already planning a summer stay!
We had a great time at Jason's cabin! Despite arriving in the dark and in a snow storm, the directions were clear and we had no trouble finding the cabin. There were six of us, and while we initially felt cramped, once we unpacked and settled in, it turned out to be perfect. The record player was the highlight of the weekend. It was the perfect snowy weekend get away, just a few minutes from Stratton. We would definitely return!
We booked with Jason for our staff ski trip earlier this week and had a fantastic experience. We were not sure if we would be able to make it due to a winter storm rolling through but Jason stayed in close contact to work out the details. The cabin itself was comfortably cozy and just what we were looking for. Also really easy to get to Stratton!!

Hi, I'm Jason, an environmental engineer who works on water and sanitation projects in developing countries (so I travel a lot). Most of the time, I live in Park Slope, Brooklyn but I also spend a good amount of time (especially during maple sugarin' season!) in Jamaica, Vermont (near Stratton) where I rent out two other vacation houses that are also listed on Airbnb.
