Functional 35m2 open space chalet with, believe or not, a modern kitchen, a bathroom, a living room with beautiful design sofas original from the 60'ties, a mezzanine with a double bed, and a dinning room with 2 fold-away single beds !
Astonishing hiking in summer and top notch skiing in winter.
10min walk from St. Niklaus' train station
07min walk from Supermarket Migros
20km away from Switzerland's postcard Matterhorn in the charming but expensive $$$ village of Zermatt, easily accessible by train.
25km from the huge ski resort area of Saas-Fee, easily accessible by car or bus.
8km from the cosy ski resort area of Grächen, accessible by car or bus.
My wife and I had a great time at this chalet! We drove here, and despite the directions it was still a bit difficult to find the street into the chalet amongst the snow. However, once we got in everything was fine. The design and style of the chalet is great and just as pictured. There were plenty of sheets, towels, kitchen utensils, and other things. The location was great for us, about a 15 - 20 minute drive to the car park in Tasch where you pick up the train to Zermatt. (There are no personal vehicles aloud in Zermat, so this is the best way to get in. The car park is 14.5chf per day, and the train into Zermatt is 16cfh round trip per person.)
We knew there would be some construction across the street, and it really didn't bother us at all. There is no work going on during the weekend, and during the week when they were working, we barely heard anything. It disrupts the view out the front window, but that really didn't make a difference to us. The inside of the chalet is so nice, and we spent most of our time out anyway.
I would recommend!
Excellent stay. Accommodation is exactly as described!
Was a great getaway but there was construction equipment literally surrounding the property. Otherwise would of been 5 stars for sure.
Very small chalet. Every guest is responsible for cleaning for the next guest, it wasn't very clean when we came (which is prob. not Mauro's fault..). The chalet is conveniently located and has pretty much everything you need (except for a hairdryer). It is renovated except for the bathroom which is quite old. You definitely can't beat the price. There is construction around the house but Mauro gave us a discount because of it which was very nice of him.
This petit chalet has a class of its own!! We loved the chalet and I am sure my children felt the same way. We had fun sleeping in the "attic bedroom". Even Mauro was worried that the chalet might not accommodate all of us but he was wrong!! The coziness and warmth the chalet offered were perfect for us in cold and quiet St Niklaus. I particularly loved the artistic details in the chalet, from the elegant wall paper, to the frame decorations on the wall and to the hangers in the toilet!! The mat that welcomed us once we entered the chalet, reminded me of home as it was a typical mat that can be found in many Malay homes. Migros is just down the road and that is a plus point. The chalet was also equipped with board games in case you really have nothing to do! Even though we had difficulty locating the chalet initially, we finally reached safely with the help of some locals who communicated with Mauro. My advice, take the bus from St Niklaus station (if you are not driving), as the distance to the chalet is shorter compared to when you walk down from the train station itself. :)) Overall, we had a WONDERFUL stay! Thank you Mauro!
Beautiful chalet! Very cosy and warm. Stayers wishing to ski in Zermatt must take into account the roughly 68CHF taxi each day. But worth it staying out of town. No problem!
Gerne wieder.
We stayed there for 3 nights.
Locationwise: a bit hard to find if you travel by train to St Niklaus. The area is quite, tranquil & relaxed. The property next to the river, so you can listen to the sound of river running which makes you feel calm.
Apartmentwise: the stove in the kitchen is really challenging. We had followed owner's instructions and tried couples of times but never got it started. So we ended out going out for dinner during those nights. You probably have to fight against quite a few flies inside the Chalet which might come from the cows raising farms. The property is well-designed & organized. The only letdown for this property is we got biten by unknown insects inside. I guess the previous guests didn't clean the property well.
Valuewise: as there was a construction site right in front of property, we were offered 50% discount. As we went out in the day time everyday, that didn't affect us ata all. Comparing with the other expensive accoomodaiton in other areas/suburbs nearby, it's a very fair deal.
Booking process: very smooth, owner always responds quickly and give detailed information to all of our questions.
Such a cute cozy chalet! We really enjoyed staying in St. Niklaus and Mauro was very organized! Would definitely recommend.
