The Space

Our completely renovated century-old guesthouse sits on 75 acres of natural Vermont mountain forest... replete with several brooks and many charming waterfalls.
The brooks join together, then flow east into Northfield Falls where the famous "3 covered bridges in a row" gave inspiration for our name.

Please Note: Price INCLUDES Vermont 9% meals & room tax. It is not added on to the cost.

Accommodations:

Come relax in our second-floor private apartment with either 1 bedroom (queen), or 2 bedrooms (second bedroom is a double). Living room, fully equipped (sans dishwasher) kitchenette for light cooking, large bathroom (neo-angle shower), private entrance with covered porch, 32" flat-screen TV and wireless internet (both via satellite.) There are lots of music stations through the TV, but there is also an I-Pod / CD player for your discs and I-pod.

NOTE: Listed nightly rate is based on a 2 night weekday stay for one bedroom apartment for 2 adults. Extra charge for second bedroom is $50 dbl oc, or $35 sing. oc. per night. (Some holiday weekends require a 3 night stay.)

A "double" guest room in the main house is also available. Larger groups can use it in addition to the apartment, or it can be rented separately and is listed as such elsewhere here on AIRBNB.

WE ARE CENTRALLY LOCATED!

Heading WEST off the mountain you'll find:

Sugarbush / Mad River / and Stowe ski areas close by (20-40 min.)
Fine dining can be found from Waitsfield to Waterbury to Stowe (all 20-30 min. drive) and many attractions such as Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream factory, Cold Hollow Cider Mill, and Vermont's exotic beers.
Burlington, Vermont's largest town on beautiful Lake Champlain (home of the University of Vermont) is about an hour drive away.

Heading EAST off the mountain...(and through the covered bridges) you'll find:

Montpelier, Vermont's capital city and home of the New England Culinary Institute (NECI) and their amazing and photogenic meals. There are many other delicious eateries, the Hunger Mountain Co-op, and lots of fun shops and old Vermont charm. Montpelier is just 12 miles up the road.

Norwich University is just 5 miles away. Norwich is the first private military school in the country and home of N.U.'s famous Hockey games!

Many towns with real old-fashioned Vermont flavor can be explored from this side of the 'hill' including Barre and its famous granite quarry.

Many guests choose to spend some quiet time right here.
Enjoy a drink on the balcony and watch the moon rise over the distant mountain. Wake up to the soothing sound of the brooks and birds. Hike, read in the garden, or try your hand at bird watching. In the winter, sledding and snowshoeing are fun right here on the property.

Rides in from the train station in Montpelier can be arranged.

Smoking is allowed OUTSIDE only please!

Owner is on premise and will work with all reasonable needs and requests.

Guest Access

Many little private areas along the brooks and in the forest. Wading pool with small sun deck in summer, snowshoeing and sledding in winter. The guest apartment is often the only space rented. I ( owner) am usually on premise as well. Occasionally, a guest room in the main house is rented at the same time and those folks may also be in the forest.

Interaction with Guests

I'm friendly and always try to be helpful to my guests...but I leave this up to people individually. I tend to keep a low profile once questions or concerns are addressed upon arrival...yet I am available, most of the time, for any of their needs.

Getting around

A vehicle is necessary here on the mountain. In winter, snow tires and front wheel drive are recommended. and 4x4 's are a plus for most of Vermont...but not necessary.

  • Dawn was a wonderful host to our family. She made sure to make us feel right at home and created a very relaxing atmosphere for our short vacation. Her house is lovely and perfect for a family. She loves close enough to town to go out to eat but far enough away to feel secluded. I would highly recommend her accommodations to anyone traveling through this beautiful part of Vermont.

  • Dawn was very communicative, welcoming and a great host! Past reviews mention this- BUT THERE REALLY ARE THREE COVERED BRIDGES. We loved coming and going to Dawn's great property just to drive on these bridges. And THERE REALLY IS A WONDERFUL WATERFALL right on her property. The space is set up very well and is really comfortable. We loved staying here and would love to again.

  • Dawn has a lovely home in an amazing place. You can hear the waterfalls when you go to bed and the birds when you wake up! Dawn is extremely nice. She was hear to greet us and had even prepared a zucchini bread that was moist and tasty. She even leant us her barbecue for our last diner. The place was extremely clean (I am highly allergic and didn't feel a thing). I would recommand Dawn's place any day!

  • We stayed at Dawn's place for a ski trip to Sugarbush and it was great. The mountain is nearby and the house has all the amenities you'll need if you choose to make dinner. We had a great time.

  • Dawn hosted my boyfriend, our doggie Pharaoh and me this past weekend in her private separate apartment! Her place is lovely and truly central to everything in the Stowe/Montpelier area. It is literally a 20 min drive from everything. Dawn is very knowledgeable and always available when needed! We had some car trouble this past weekend and she was able to arrange a mechanic for us. This was a MIRACLE considering the fact that it was last minute and that it was a holiday weekend! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • We had a wonderful time. Dawn is so nice and her house so peaceful.
Her garden, with the waterfalls, is amazing.

  • We were in a very clean and comfortable Apt. surrounded by natural beauty. We were especially drawn to the small waterfall and stream. Dawn is very available, very knowledgeable and very friendly.

  • Dear Dawn,

Thanx for allowing us to stay at your beautiful house! It isn't that easy to find by itself but you've clearly explained the path and you made it very easy for us!

It's been exactly as we wanted it… Simple, calm and refreshing! You've greeted us with a smille and explained quickly and efficiently what was up. All the amenities in the kitchen were there, no nice picture of an oven with finally nothing to really cook around it. As for the bathroom, toilet, living room… "Spic and Span" as we say! Even in the electric failure on our last night there you've stayed calm and at the right moment came up and offered and extra light as well as giving us possibilités of what was happening… nothing less nothing more just perfect! Coming from Montreal and being in love with the area we would surely pick your place on our return to Waterbury!

By the way, the cake offered was delicious (our young daughter loved it!).

  • I stayed at Dawn's guesthouse over Labor Day weekend 2013. The apartment is clean, neat and easily accommodated our party of three adults.

Dawn's backyard is amazing -- she has multiple streams and waterfalls and several picnic areas to enjoy coffee or a meal.

The house is approximately 15 miles from Waterbury and Montpelier, making for a 25-30 min drive to either of those neighboring towns.

Although the apartment, backyard and location are fantastic, my highest praise is for Dawn who was a remarkable host. She welcomed us with open arms (and had a loaf of zucchini bread when we arrived)... and even started a fire in the fire pit so we could enjoy it when we returned from a dinner in town.

If you're looking for a place in the Waterbury/Stowe area, you can't beat Dawn's Guesthouse!

  • Dawn has the cutest little cabin in the heart of Vermont! The appartment upstairs that was all for ourselves has everything one needs and gave us the opportunity to hike the Green Mountains (we hiked the Camels Hump, strongly recommended!) Only about 10 minutes from state capital Montpelier (which is cute with 10000 inhabitants) yet completely remote.

If the weather would have been better we would have had breakfast in the garden or on the balcony or at the tiny picnic place at the waterfall on the estate...a thousand possibilities!

PS: Good to have internet in the middle of nowhere!

About
Originally from New Jersey, I fell in love with Vermont's mountain wilderness when I was about 12 years old. (Wow...no billboards!) Years later, I bought a falling down camp (no wiring, no plumbing, etc.) and spent much time and money just bringing the house (email hidden)-able" state. It's been another 15 years or so working out the details and chipping away at the outrageously overgrown flora and fauna to create open areas and some gardens. Whew! Here's a quizz about Vermonters...."What do you call a Vermonter with 3 jobs?" Answer: "Lazy". Like most folks here in the Green Mountains I do several things for "loot". I so some substitute teaching, respite for handicapped clients, waitressing and professional driving. In between those, I've finally been able to get my "guest house" up and running!
