The Space

This is a truly unique 1920's vintage property that has been completely renovated for your pleasure and comfort. If interested in an urban vacation experience, in Tucson on business, maybe a yoga workshop or a training athlete, this is the place.

There are 2 sides, an East/West apartment, with a shared courtyard. They are not identical, but offer the same amenities - each side has it's own distinct personality.

Complete kitchen with granite counter tops and slate back splashes, lots of cooking utensils, and fully equipped . Comfortable and cozy in every way with flat screen television and satellite radio, Roku internet streaming, Netflix and local channels. Enclosed interior courtyard with outdoor seating for meals and relaxation. More than a wonderful alternative to a hotel stay, you'll be pleasantly surprised with the accommodations.

A bit about the 'hood. Close proximity to Downtown, 4th Ave. shopping , U of A - all within walking distance, great urban location!

We also provide locally roasted coffee, nice selection of teas, french press, fully functioning kitchen, nice toiletries and linens, too. Ask if there's something else you may need to enhance your stay....

Easy access to all parts of the city, most venues within walking distance. Walk, ride or bike to Downtown, U of A, 4th ave. shopping district, great restaurants, cafes, museums, entertainment.

  • I've left a review twice now, and it won't acknowledge my review. Tired of re-writing it.

  • Nice host, nice place, nice stay.
This is a very charming, older home (I'm guessing here) that has been converted to two apartments with an enclosed courtyard. Colorfully painted in Southwest style with a small kitchen and bathroom and generous bedroom/sitting room area. Very comfortable and quiet.
We arrived at night and since the cottage is on an alley and this is an older section of Tucson I worried a bit about the location. It was unnecessary as it proved to be calm, quiet and safe.
Debra is very helpful, with a great sense of humor.

  • My wife and I stayed at Casa Amarilla three days in early January, 2014. We had the west apt. and think it perfectly charming: ample size, soft radiant heat from ceramic tile, large, comfortable bed, equipped kitchen. Well, perfect for us. Debra loaned us her bikes to do a 20 mile loop around the city. She'(email hidden), Tucson-knowlegable, with a kind heart the size of the Arizona sky.

  • Casa Amarilla is easily the best bargain around. The decor is very stylish and warm. The apartment has old-world charm without feeling old; everything was very clean and in good working order. The bed is extremely comfortable and the location is surprisingly quiet despite being able to walk to all kinds of stores and restaurants within a few blocks. We stayed in the East apartment, which has windows right on the lane, but the unit is raised up a few feet, and has nice wood blinds, making it feel comfortably private. Any fears I had about noise were gone that first night; we slept perfectly.

The heat works great (we stayed in the middle of winter and nights got chilly). The kitchen has an upscale feel with the gas stove, granite countertops and nice cabinetry. The beautiful wood floors add to the warmth. Nice, big TV, though we never watched it.

Negatives? The bathroom is a little bit on the small side. In the kitchen there are two small fridges instead of a single normal-sized one. In the end these were not serious issues; and in fact it's hard to think of any negatives at all. Would have loved a dishwasher and washer/dryer units in the apartment, but it's probably better not to lose valuable space.

Debra was also very accommodating, and I couldn't have been happier with her. Wish we could have stayed longer!

  • Séjour chez Debra impeccable. Nous avons été très bien reçu par Debra et au long du séjour, Debra s'informait de temps à autre de notre confort. Dorénavant, ce sera notre pied à terre à Tucson.
Gros merci Debra. Thank you Debra.

  • Another fantastic stay at one of Debra's locations! This little vintage studio has a great location in relation to the University, to 4th ave, and downtown. We were able to go car-free this trip and had a wonderful time.

Apartment is perfectly set up and totally charming--as are its hosts. We really enjoyed sitting out in the side yard, too.

    Thanks for another great visit!

  • This little apartment was wonderful! The square footage is not large, but the space feels roomy and is enjoyable to spend time in. The outside seating area is also very pretty.

We could not have been happier - and we had breakfast at Mother Hubbard's which was delicious!

We would definitely stay here again if we ever get back to Tucson.

  • Had a very nice stay. The place is even bigger than the photos make it look. Very very very comfortable bed!!!! Slept very soundly. The owners very unbelievably quick to fix a small issue we were having with a dvd player malfunction. Within less than an hour they had picked up the non-working device and dropped off another. The place is gorgeous and close to nice places to eat, shop and be entertained. Stay here if u want to stay somewhere 10 times cleaner and nicer than a hotel at a lower cost than most hotels!!!

Hi, I have lived in Tucson since 1987 in West University neighborhood. It is a very vibrant place, lots of fun and exciting things to do all within walking distance. Besides hosting new and interesting people, I am a blown glass artist, co-own a restaurant called Mother Hubbard's-great food!, and a Mom. I love to swim, practice yoga, river rafting, go for long walks or hikes, and work on new glass pieces when I (website hidden) is full and fun, especially with my daughter who loves the performing arts. Being a host has allowed me to meet lots of wonderful people, some of them becoming good friends. I am always happy to share my knowledge of Tucson, my favorite places and anything else that will enhance my guest stay in the ol'Pueblo...
