  • I have just returned from a week long stay in Debra's lovely apartment. It could not have been more perfect for me! The apartment is beautiful, conveniently located and very comfortable. I also had the pleasure of meeting Debra. I look forward to staying here again!

  • I've left a review twice now, and it won't acknowledge my review. Tired of re-writing it.

  • Nice host, nice place, nice stay.
This is a very charming, older home (I'm guessing here) that has been converted to two apartments with an enclosed courtyard. Colorfully painted in Southwest style with a small kitchen and bathroom and generous bedroom/sitting room area. Very comfortable and quiet.
We arrived at night and since the cottage is on an alley and this is an older section of Tucson I worried a bit about the location. It was unnecessary as it proved to be calm, quiet and safe.
Debra is very helpful, with a great sense of humor.

  • Had a very nice stay. The place is even bigger than the photos make it look. Very very very comfortable bed!!!! Slept very soundly. The owners very unbelievably quick to fix a small issue we were having with a dvd player malfunction. Within less than an hour they had picked up the non-working device and dropped off another. The place is gorgeous and close to nice places to eat, shop and be entertained. Stay here if u want to stay somewhere 10 times cleaner and nicer than a hotel at a lower cost than most hotels!!!

  • Staying with Debra was an absolute dream, She was so knowledgeable of the Tucson area and went out of her way to make sure we were extremely comfortable. Her studio apartment is immaculately decorated and in the perfect location for visiting the University of Arizona and exploring 4th Avenue. Though it was small, we fit 2 people in the apartment comfortably. We had the ability to walk almost anywhere and Debra was kind enough to provide us with bikes to ride around town, free of charge. I would definitely stay with Debra again if I was in the area. Her prices are also extremely competitive compared to hotels in Tucson that offer maybe half of what she does.

  • Great location for downtown and old pueblo. Nice neighborhood for walking. Well kept unit. We had the two level unit, which involves taking two steps up/down to get between the sofa area and the bed/bath/kitchen. I had a knee problem, so got tired of that.

  • My wife and I stayed at Casa Amarilla three days in early January, 2014. We had the west apt. and think it perfectly charming: ample size, soft radiant heat from ceramic tile, large, comfortable bed, equipped kitchen. Well, perfect for us. Debra loaned us her bikes to do a 20 mile loop around the city. She's a gracious host, Tucson-knowlegable, with a kind heart the size of the Arizona sky.

  • Casa Amarilla is easily the best bargain around. The decor is very stylish and warm. The apartment has old-world charm without feeling old; everything was very clean and in good working order. The bed is extremely comfortable and the location is surprisingly quiet despite being able to walk to all kinds of stores and restaurants within a few blocks. We stayed in the East apartment, which has windows right on the lane, but the unit is raised up a few feet, and has nice wood blinds, making it feel comfortably private. Any fears I had about noise were gone that first night; we slept perfectly.

The heat works great (we stayed in the middle of winter and nights got chilly). The kitchen has an upscale feel with the gas stove, granite countertops and nice cabinetry. The beautiful wood floors add to the warmth. Nice, big TV, though we never watched it.

Negatives? The bathroom is a little bit on the small side. In the kitchen there are two small fridges instead of a single normal-sized one. In the end these were not serious issues; and in fact it's hard to think of any negatives at all. Would have loved a dishwasher and washer/dryer units in the apartment, but it's probably better not to lose valuable space.

Debra was also very accommodating, and I couldn't have been happier with her. Wish we could have stayed longer!

  • Séjour chez Debra impeccable. Nous avons été très bien reçu par Debra et au long du séjour, Debra s'informait de temps à autre de notre confort. Dorénavant, ce sera notre pied à terre à Tucson.
Gros merci Debra. Thank you Debra.

  • The apartment was absolutely perfect for our needs and we really enjoyed our stay. Close enough to walk into town.

Hi, I have lived in Tucson since 1987 in West University neighborhood. It is a very vibrant place, lots of fun and exciting things to do all within walking distance. Besides hosting new and interesting people, I am a blown glass artist, co-own a restaurant called Mother Hubbard's-great food!, and a Mom. I love to swim, practice yoga, river rafting, go for long walks or hikes, and work on new glass pieces when I can. Life is full and fun, especially with my daughter who loves the performing arts. Being a host has allowed me to meet lots of wonderful people, some of them becoming good friends. I am always happy to share my knowledge of Tucson, my favorite places and anything else that will enhance my guest stay in the ol'Pueblo...
