Hawaiian Monarch building is located in Waikiki, close to the Convention Center. It is about 3 blocs to the beach. Ala Monana mall is nearby, as well as supermarket Don Quijote and Walmart on one side; the opposite direction is main street Kalakaua with shops and restaurants, and more beaches.
Within Waikiki the best is on foot. There is the Bus, that runs through Oahu. By the lower lobby, there is a rental place with mopeds and smart-cars. Car rentals are one block over. There is no parking assigned to the unit; it is possible to rent parking stall from the building on daily/weekly bases.
There will be a packet with house rules in the unit. The rules are rather standard, asking residents not to create excessive noise, no illegal substances, no pets, ...
Barb was fantastic to work with. Very prompt and courteous. The condo was adorable; small but just what we needed. After being advised against parking our car on the street due to the neighborhood, we paid $20 to park in the garage. Upon entering the Monarch building I became nervous because it smelled like sewage and in desperate need of remodeling. However, I was relieved after we stepped through the door of the condo. It appears to be newly remodeled with great attention to detail. Wonderful aesthetic, simple, clean, modern. The views of the city are fantastic. We watched the sunrise over the east coast and could see the ocean to the south. I highly recommend this space.
Barb was easily accessible and very flexible. She was able to accommodate an early check-in. The unit was very clean, and was exactly as pictured online. The view from the unit was amazing, and the location was great for everything in Waikiki. We were able to find free street parking along the canal. This was a great first experience for us with Airbnb, and we would definitely recommend it for anyone traveling to the area.
The studio is exactly as it is described on the website. Barb was easy to communicate with, responded quickly and very gracious. The apartment has a great location with sweeping views. It is modest and rustic but clean and within walking distance to the beach and harbor.
I would recommend it to anyone on a budget. Thanks Barb!
Barb was very responsive and easy to book with. Unfortunately right before we were due to arrive, someone had booked this property so we had to do a bit of rejiggering with our schedules. Barb was communicative and did everything she could to get us the earliest check in possible. As we headed to the apartment, our cab driver took two wrong turns and landed us on a one way in some traffic, and therefore we were about 20 minutes late to pick up the key. Upon our arrival, we met a woman who was not Barb. This woman had our key and was very annoyed by the fact that we were running behind. Even after we apologized and attempted to make small talk, this very unpleasant woman stuck to her cold and humorless demeanor. I was very caught off guard that the owner did not warn me that I wouldn't be meeting her. The apartment is nice, newly renovated. Clean. It is a close walk to Waikiki beach and has nice views. The building has a pool which was a nice amenity. The unit is advertised as having a washer and dryer but you should note that it's a communal laundry room that you have to pay for, ($2.75 per wash and another $2.75 to dry) which is totally fine, but good to know ahead of time. Overall it was what we were looking for our quick trip to Honolulu. My only complaint would be the strange/sketchy woman who met us at the building. If I had been traveling alone, I really would not have been ok with it.
Excellent for my short stay before headed up to North Shore. I'd go back again!
We really enjoyed our stay at Barbora's place. She welcomed us very warmly and explained everything needed. The place has a great view and even if it is rather small, it has all you need. We felt very comfortable. Beach and shopping mall was within walking distance. Recommended as an affordable and beautiful place with easy access to anything you need.
