This a top-floor "penthouse" apartment with luxury finishes and Hilton-type amenities at 1/2 the price. Located in the heart of the vibrant historic center, within walking distance of the city's greatest sites, and amazing views of Bellas Artes!
View from the living room and both bedrooms. Relaciones Exteriores and Mexico's active volcanoes in the background.
Hello and thanks for taking the time to look at my place. (If dates are unavailable or you're interested in staying in the trendy, residential Roma/Condesa neighborhood, check out my other listing.)
My apartment includes two bedrooms with queen size beds (hard to find in Mexico!), feather pillows, closets and full bathrooms stocked with towels, organic liquid bodysoap, shampoo, shaving cream, a hairdryer, and moisturizer with sunblock. I try to supply as many liquid bathroom supplies as possible for people travelling without checked luggage. Have any other special needs? Let me know and I can try to get it before your arrival.
The kitchen is fully-stocked with a blender, microwave, coffee maker, oven, 4-burner gas range/stove, as well as pots and pans and various utensils for cooking. You can buy ingredients at the market, and I do my best to supply some staples like olive oil, salt and pepper, sugar, etc. so you don't have to spend on large quantities that you won't use up.
There's also a washer and dryer which you are welcome to use for free. Laundry detergent and fabric softener are included.
The apartment is cozy, comfortable and clean, with warm hardwood floors and luxury finishes in the kitchen and bathrooms. The sofa and barstools are also super comfortable after a long day of walking around the city.
This is one of the nicest buildings in the city, won design awards in 2006 and has lots of amenities that you are welcome to use:
*gym and semi-olympic swimming pool open from 5am - midnight (you must use a swimming cap)
*wifi throughout the entire building
*rooftop sun decks and a small running track
*outdoor garden area with benches and tables
*24 hour doorguards and service with any problems
*private movie screening room
*play area for children
*dry-cleaner (the only service that's not free)
All of the amenities in the apartment and the building are yours to use.
Interaction with Guests
I live nearby, and I'm always reachable by phone or email if you have any problems or questions. When you arrive I will meet you at the building and give you a tour, as well as orient you to public transportation, stores, banks, and all the great places in the neighborhood. I love Mexico City and I'm happy to offer you several days worth of suggestions about places to visit and explore, caveats about the city, and answer any other questions you have.
The historic center is undergoing an amazing renaissance. When I moved here in 2005 it was deserted and frankly a bit scary at night. Things have changed completely in the last five years and it's now one of the most vibrant, exciting, and fun parts of this enormous city. You could spend a week just wandering through the streets, visiting museums, and gawking at the architecture. The apartment is right next to Reforma, so you have easy access to the entire stretch of monuments, museums, shopping, and restaurants along that avenue also. Everything else is easily reachable by public transportation or taxi.
You're literally a few blocks from three different metro stations, the main avenue for the entire city, and efficient public bus lines. Best of all, transportation in Mexico is dependable and CHEAP!
No smoking, please. Also, noise should be kept to a reasonable level, although there are few neighbors. Other than that, just use your common sense. :)
The apartment was absolutely gorgeous. Very sleek and modern design in a fantastic location right next to the park and in the historic centre, close to everything from restaurants, the metro, Oxxo, and whatever else you may need. The building was secure and very well maintained. Matt was very responsive and available for any questions we had throughout our stay and did everything to make our time there as hassle-free as possible.
If I'm ever back in Mexico City, I would stay here again in a heartbeat.
Excelente experience! Great location, apartment and building. Very atenteive host. Our experience at Matt´s place was wonderfull, we definetly recomend to everyone!
My family and I stayed here for two weeks during the Christmas holiday season. I will begin with the positives about staying at Matt's place. The picture does not do this place justice, but let me tell you that the view was amazing; Bellas Artes and the Alameda are right there for you in both bedrooms and the living room. This is especially beautiful at night because the building is lit up. Everything inside the apartment works, even the Wifi worked perfectly during the length of our stay. The beds are comfortable and the water pressure is excellent. My wife and I found that its austerity aided in childproofing the condo as there was nothing to break and nothing that grabbed their attention.
The amenities were great, bring a cap and goggles if you plan to use the pool though as its usage is not allowed unless you have these. There is a small convenience-like store on the main floor for when you want a quick snack or just need safe drinking water. Security is great and there is a 24 hour parking lot right next to the building which is awesome because parking in downtown is almost forbidden, we found this out the hard way. Plenty of convenience stores close to the building and security is great outside also. There are always people walking around and we did not hesitate to grab a quick bite at 2 am on one of the nights we were there. Basically, everything is within walking distance, the museums, the stores, the sites, etc...
We are pretty laid back and not high maintenance, which leads me to my only negative (what I believe is a once in a life time incident), apparently, we were not expected so no one was there to allow us in. It would not hurt to get in touch with Matt a few days in advance to make sure everything is set. We waited an hour and a half to be allowed in and with two kids and a baby at 8 pm on a Sunday, this made my wife more than upset. BUT the apartment makes up for it, the view makes up for it, and everything else. I would definitely stay here again!!
First of all, thanks for the very thorough and positive review. I agree, my photos don't do it justice and I need to have an airbnb photographer come over.
The problem with the arrival was due to a miscommunication and was entirely my fault. To make matters even worse, tired children were involved! So, total failure in my text messaging skills which I feel terrible about. Ulises is right that this was the only time this has happened, otherwise you can be sure it would have shown up in previous reviews. You can be sure I'll do everything I can to avoid repeating this mistake in the future.
The listing was accurate, the neighborhood was great, the landlord wasnt in the country at the time (it was xmas), but made a great effort at arranging a friend to come help us check in. View was great, apartment spacious, nice kitchen, all together comfortable and great location.
Matt es muy atento a todos los requerimientos. El barrio está muy céntrico y cerca de diferentes medios de transporte. ¡Excelente!
Pretty apt in a very good central location! Everything went well even after our flight got delayed Matt arranged for his cleaning lady to meet us and show us to the apt . Wifii worked perfect for us , although the wifii in the lobby was impossible to find and connect to so it was hard to reach Matt to let him know we had arrived. We didn't have time to check
out the amenities of the building but they all looked great . If I'm ever in Mexico DF again I would def stay here . Safe and central location
It was a great experience. The apartment is centrally located, close to placio de bellas artes, zocalo and also to avenida Reforma.
Matt was an excellent host, he took his time to explained to us the best way to go around the city.
Apartment is clean and has everything you need for a good stay.
