Interaction with Guests
I have been a yacht Captain for over 10 years and I live/work on the Island. I am on the water everyday and will be available to address/assist with any questions or concerns.
The Nantucket Harbor Launch runs daily providing easy access to and from the boat. Just call them on the boat's VHF radio - Channel 68. Please note that the launch charges a fee of $5.00 per person each way, plus tip.
Other Things to Note
I will accompany you to the boat and walk you through the necessary procedures to make your stay as comfortable as possible. However, before booking please consider that this experience is not like your typical rental. Its is a boat out on the harbor and subject to the elements -if you are not comfortable on boats and/or generally don't enjoy camping this might not be for you.
The boat CAN NOT be moved from the mooring.
WOW!! We truly were not sure what to expect before we arrived to stay on Chad's Boat. All I am now able to say is, that with out a doubt it was a once in a lifetime experience, and one that I am glad we did not miss. Nantucket itself is awesome, but we knew that, staying on Chad's boat just made the whole experience so much better!
We wanted to chill and relax and that's what we did! We lay on the deck and tanned, swam off the side of the boat, and I drank beer from the ice cold ice box (Chad I still owe you $30, Its my excuse to come back and stay again.)
With regards to those worried about comfort, my wife was 7 months pregnant at the time, and she was more than comfortable, and I think that says it all!
Chad himself is a legend, and nothing was too much trouble, from storing our ridiculous amount of luggage to giving us tips on where to go, see and eat.
All that's left to say is thanks!!
Describe my experience? Magical. I booked the Roshika as my lodging on island for a reunion; a reassembling of 15 former 20 year-olds who spent several years living on island in the early nineties. Back then we lived care-free but hard-working lives, some of us taxi drivers by day and musicians by night; others born-and-raised islanders working the family business . Our gang were the closest of friends: we shared countless adventures, romances, and lazy days of frisbee and surfing. Now, 20 years later, we were coming back together to check in and reconnect.
Spending time with close friends that I hadn't seen in decades would've been a pivotal life-moment on its face but staying on the Roshika took my vacation to a happy place that I did not expect.
First of all, the boat has a welcoming, protective yet hospitable personality about her. From the patina on the brass work to the warm luster of the rich interior woods, Roshika is like a '56 Bel Air...one that you'd drive to work daily. She's not polished to an uncomfortable sheen; she wears her years like lines on the tanned face of aging Kerouac character. Comfortable and welcoming, Roshika is a boat that requires your participation: filling the ice box, heating you morning tea over a propane burner, checking on her batteries periodically....
As a business traveler, I enjoy first rate hotels with exceptional service; staying on Roshika isn't this kind of lodging. Sitting on her deck 30 miles from the mainland at night with a canopy of dense stars above and the gentle sway of the ocean below, swapping stories with a dear old friend between sips of hot tea was a moment I could have stayed in forever.
Ultimately, Roshika became my newest Island friend and since the day I left I've been consumed with making my way back for another stay. Forget the White Elephant, the Wauwinet. Next time you travel to Nantucket leave the fancy luggage at home, pack lightly and spend your nights nestled in the belly of Chad's Roshika. Simply unforgettable.
Chad was a great host, his boat was beautiful, and he was very attentive. His directions on how to get to the boat were very clear and he made it very clear that he was always willing to answer questions and fix any problems at any time. Couldn't have asked for a better host or a better stay. Thanks again Chad.
Chad was an excellent host and our stay on Roshika was very special! Chad is super knowledgeable about the island and is a great first contact upon arriving. The boat is kept in excellent shape inside and out, just as pictured, and is very comfortable. Hang out in the main cabin with its many books and built-in stereo, or watch a sunset on deck (we took out a little cheese plate to enjoy). The compact galley and icebox were totally sufficient for our needs, and was thoughtfully stocked. The showers on land are also quite well maintained and not crowded. Will be recommending to anyone who asks.
Chad was punctual, thorough and most gracious. The boat not only met but exceeded our expectations. It is truly the best (only) way to experience the serious boating culture of Nantucket. It was a perfect oasis from the hustle and bustle in town.
Chad was the perfect host for our recent trip to Nantucket. We spent the weekend celebrating our first anniversary and couldn't have asked for a better experience. Upon arrival Chad brought us out to the boat and showed us around the space and how to properly use everything. The cabin was spacious and bed was much more comfortable than we could have imagined. There is nothing better than waking up to sunrise and the salty sea air. The boat was stocked with all sorts of drinks, snacks, and a French press for sunrise coffee which is not to be missed. The whole experience was both unique and relaxing and we can't imagine having experienced the island any other way. Chad was very responsive and gave us great recommendations for places to check out during our stay. We would highly recommend this experience and hope to be back someday! Thank you again Chad for all your hospitality!
Spoke to Chad a few times prior to arrival. He made sure everything we needed was available and easy to find. The boat was great and convenient. Cant wait to go back.
