About this listing
Our 17th Century home is a romantic country house in the Quantock Hills in Somerset, not far from Glastonbury. We provide vegetarian food, and specialise in detox and juicing retreats. Sky Room is a twin bed ensuite.
This is a lovely twin bedded room with ensuite bathroom, with a bath and shower. The house is quiet - wake to birdsong and cock crow. There is a view of the garden and ancient barn and the rose-covered walls and flower bed. It suits children as well as adults.
You can access the sitting room for TV watching (not in room for peace and quiet reasons). Dining room for breakfast which is £5 per person extra, and access to kitchen if you wish to prepare your own food (please don't cook meat here though). We also offer a raw food dining experience for £17.50 per head if booked ahead)
Interaction with Guests
We live in the house most of the time, and will be around to look after your needs, especially if you want veggie or raw food, or therapies. However, you can be left undisturbed if you prefer.
Its incredibly peaceful here, with dark skies for seeing the stars. Lots of walks on the Quantocks which are unspoilt, access to the coast, to Glastonbury with its Tor, Abbey, and crystal shops, Bridgwater and Taunton for amenities and shopping. Surprising amount of musical events (eg Music on the Quantocks, the top musical organisation in the South West, and also Under One Sun for global music), village activities, nice restaurants, pubs, and much more!
Public transport non existent beyond Bridgwater or Taunton, so you need to drive or take taxis from here - or arrange to use us for lifts. Parking is free by our gate in the drive, just inside and to the right of the main entrance. Berry's Coaches run a service from Hammersmith in London direct to Bridgwater for a very reasonable rate, and National Express run to and from Heathrow. The train service from London or Bristol is easiest into Taunton. We are 5 miles from Bridgwater, and 7 miles from Taunton.
Other Things to Note
We are on the edge of the Quantock Hills, for walking, riding, and picnics. But out of reach of the flood plain on the Levels in case you are concerned - we had no trouble this winter.
We can offer therapies here, and bespoke detox/juicing retreats if you are interested.
We do not allow smoking in the house. We have a large male labradoodle who is friendly but not a good idea to bring other 'full male' dogs here - otherwise we are animal friendly.
We arrived in the early evening. Flowers everywhere! Our hostess was in the driveway with her friendly dog and we walked to the gorgeous house through the garden together. The room was very comfortable and pretty and looked out onto the garden. Jennifer left us later a tea tray for the morning with a pot of milk! Beds were very comfortable and the attached bath and shower perfect. We slept soundly and long and simply loved the place.
I had lovely stay .Jennifer was a wonderful host even though I was the guest from hell waking her up as I couldn't open the front door. It is a wonderful place to unwind and relax and Jennifer really went out of her way to ensure I enjoyed my stay.
The warm welcome and help in finding this tranquil oasis were very much appreciated, as my stay with Jennifer and Robin came at the end of a most busy and eventful day. As I am moving into the Bridgwater area, it was great to get first hand information about what is going on in the community generally and especially in the arts and therapy worlds down in Somerset.
The energy of this home is renewing and restorative and I would wholeheartedly recommend a visit here to anyone checking out the local area.
I had 2 delightful nights with Jenny and Robin in their beautiful home. They are hospitable and friendly hosts and I would love to stay there again. If you want peace and friendliness in a lovely rural setting I recommend them highly!
I had a very enjoyable night's stay at this delightful secluded house. The gardens are beautifully kept and the room very clean and comfortable. I had mislaid my overnight bag but Jennifer went out of her way to offer a spare toothbrush etc. I would recommend the real food breakfast for £5 extra - very reasonable, filling, nutritious and delicious!
Be sure to get the address and telephone number before hand as it was difficult to of find from the postcode alone.
Jenny and Rob's bnb is incredibly welcoming and cosy. The armosphere is very relaxing and Jenny and Rob are very friendly and helpful. I would definately recommend anyone to stay here for a relaxing getaway. Also the healthy smoothies Jenny made us where delicious! Thanks Jenny and Rob!
We only stayed one night but everything was perfect.
Jennifer and Robin are great hosts and their home is really lovely.

I would recommend this place and would come back if in the area for sure.

About the Host, Jennifer
My husband Robin and I are both trained therapists, and I also work for a charity. We are vegetarians and have discovered the amazing benefits of more fresh fruit and vegetables, nuts and seeds in our diet. We now offer weekend detox breaks, workshops on raw food lifestyle and cuisine, as well as the use of our home for refreshing breaks in the countryside.
