The 525 sq ft guest apt is set back on one acre of quiet, lush desert with indigenous wildlife and starry nights and is located on the first floor of our two story home. This fully furnished one bedroom apt has one queen bed and a full bath. If you have a child or third guest we have a single bed we can set up next to the queen bed and it is available upon request. We clean the apt and linens with eco-friendly products and our water is filtered throughout the whole house. The kitchenette has an induction electric stove top, small electric oven, microwave, fridge, pans, dishes and cutlery. The cupboards are stocked with essentials like spices, oil, honey tea and coffee. The small living room has a new large loveseat couch and a 32" Tv with access to Netflix and local channels. There is a sun room (porch) with a patio table. Also there is a grill and picnic table that are available for your enjoyment. Uncovered parking, shared laundry and excellent Wifi access are included. For clarity; my family lives in the 2nd story and the guest apt for rent is located on the first floor and on the west side of the house, the apt itself is located on the quietest area of the whole property! The guest apt has it's own private entrance located around the side. Keep in mind that although we are in a semi-rural and quiet setting there will be some upstairs family noises because this is not a separate guest house. For our summer guest the family swimming pool is available from May through September, We provide swim towels and pool toys and children under 2 years old need to wear swim diapers.
Please no pets are allowed and no smoking indoors allowed here. Our aim is to ensure an allergy free zone and for our all of our guests.
This semi-rural retreat is located 5 minutes to a grocery/shopping center, 10 min. to hiking trials, 15 min. to the University of Arizona and 25 min. to the Sonoran Desert Museum.
Your hosts, Dan and Teresa, are long time Tucson residents and are happy to share their knowledge of the desert, the southwest's attractions and seasonal festivals.
If you are curious, our home based business, Still Waters Float Spa, offers r.e.s.t. (reduced environmental stimulus therapy) or more commonly known as sensory deprivation in a salt pool and our float spa is available to our guests at a discounted rate.
Interaction with guests
We respect our airbnb guests' privacy therefore we typically greet our guests upon arrival, show the apt amenities, chit chat a bit and then we retreat to our home. If you have questions anytime throughout your stay, have needs; like helping with the tv, wifi, kitchen or want to chat get recommendations about sightseeing, restaurants, etc we are usually prompt to respond through email, phone calls, text or a good old fashioned knock on the door.
Please use utilities like electric and water reasonably. Loud music and Tv after 11:00pm is not appreciated. Long term guests are responsible for taking their garbage and recycling out to the large outdoor cans for weekly pickup.
I enjoy exploring the road less traveled, both inner and outer worlds. Tucson has been my home since 1983. I've studied, worked and played in the fields of archaeology, art and music. Ha ha ;-) and then came the kids! For 8 years we home schooled our boys, though they are now in college and Waldorf school. I've encouraged people to cultivate a healthy and mindful lifestyle for many years through teaching yoga classes, my float business and through hosting guests in our airbnb apt.
My husband, Dan, came to Tucson from New York City in "78 on a lark with a friend, he loved the desert and so adopted Tucson as his new home. Dan has a math/sociology degree but in his heart he is a singer of western folk music. I think he's a clever songwriter! His band is called The Blue Prairie Dogs.
As a family, we're lovers of new building projects, music, nature and we care for 2 friendly dogs. We tend to lead a healthy lifestyle, munching organic foods, mindful TV viewing, etc, but we are relaxed about it. Yeah, you know the type ;-) Peace and Grins!
