My boyfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at Thomas' Treehouse property as well as the beautiful Villa Malinche.
The treehouse was a completely unique experience. We immediately felt cozy and at home. We were in awe of all the beautiful work that Thomas did himself using teak and other recovered wood material, creating a rustic and cozy atmosphere.
The treehouse is equipped with everything that you would need to feel at home. On top of doing some much needed laundry we enjoyed cooking breakfast each morning and watching the monkeys play on the porch. We were visited almost daily by both the white faced capuchins and little squirrel monkeys. The best thing about the treehouse is that you feel apart of nature, an experience that you would not be able to get at a large scale resort. Set in the jungle it's quiet atmosphere is only interrupted by the occasional sounds of howler monkeys and geckos. We would most definitely recommend a stay here if even for a night.
Some other things to note, it is a short 10 minute walk down a steep hill to reach downtown Quepos, where there are many restaurant choices and markets to shop at for food and drink items. The walk can be hot during the day, but we would often walk in to town and then take a taxi back to the treehouse in the evening. Catching a taxi is easy to do in Quepos as they often line up in a specific area. Most drivers know how to get to Thomas', the trip costs between $4-$6; be sure to agree on a price at the start of the trip otherwise the driver may try to charge you more. Also, once in Quepos, you can take a short bus ride to Manuel Antonio for only 60cents. Manuel Antonio has endless restaurant options and beautiful beaches.
What really made our trip memorable was the hospitality provided by Thomas and his wife Lili. They are both great people with a wonderful sense of humour. Thomas was always easy to reach, and was happy to provide recommendations, organize day trips for us, and call taxi's if we needed them. He even helped us figure out how to open a particularly stubborn bottle of rum.
If you are still wondering if the Treehouse is the place for you, stop thinking about it and just book it, you will have an experience that you will never forget.
And if you are looking for everything that the Treehouse has to offer, but with even more luxury, check out Thomas' Villa Malinche listing.
We look forward to returning for our next vacation!
Had an excellent time in the tree house! A beautiful view, great rustic and cosy atmosphere. Little geckos keep you company and kill bugs. Monkeys drop by to say hello on the porch. Spent many an evening having a glass of wine on the porch and listening to the sounds of nature. Also, the nighttime view from the pool is amazing. I live in New York now, and I can't remember the last time I saw that many stars. Hopefully I'll be back to stay again! Quepos is a great town with wonderful people, Thomas and Lily included!
We loved our stay in the Tree House. Peaceful surroundings, lots of beautiful birds and butterflies, as well as gorgeous vegetation. We were lucky enough to see three species of monkeys while we were there: squirrel monkeys, white-faced capuchin monkeys, and a troop of howler monkeys, complete with two babies on their backs. We spent a lot of time on the deck with our binoculars and camera at hand and were able to take a lot of great nature pictures. The pool was wonderful, with beautiful plantings around it and we spent some time there almost every day, enjoying the perfect weather. We had a small rental car and although our first trip up the hill was intimidating, we quckly got the hang of navigating our way up (when you see the third gate ahead, give it the gas and go for broke!). Hopefully, it won't be long before we will be able to make a return visit. Many thanks for your hospitality, Thomas and Lili.
Are you looking for a rustic but comfortable house in the trees and a unique experience? Do you want to see monkeys jumping and playing outside your tree house home? If so this is the place for you. Bring your camera and prepare to take home photos or amazing video. We loved the activity in the trees. We were wowed as we looked at and listened to the monkeys' and birds' activities right outside our windows. The road up to it is an adventure with gorgeous views of the ocean. The hosts provide you with many places to go and adventures for all types of vacationers. This tree house if definitely a world apart and well worth the visit. We hope to return for a week next year. Two days was not long enough of the peace in the trees!
Jan 11-19. Words can not fully capture our time in the tree house in Quepos, amazing, tranquil, awesome, inspiring.....and more than you could ever hope for! Thomas was an exceptional host, there when you needed advice or assistance. The walk down the hill into Quepos was good exercise with interesting sites along the way. We rented a tiny car for a few days that made it up the hill no problem, so save your money, no need for a 4x4 in the dry season but get a 5 speed front wheel drive. We were greeted daily by monkeys, birds and geckos and while at the pool we had many butterfly's and hummingbirds fly by in their beautiful garden.... Can't wait to go back!!
We passed a week in this paradise. We were entertained by the monkeys twice during the week.... It was more like cirque du soleil entertainement they were jumping and playing on the balcony...we were very excited about that.
Very romantic dinners on the balcony and it only takes 5 minutes to drive to manuel antonio, which we love. Nothing is missing from the kitchen, we went to the farmers market on saturday in quepos to fill up for the week. Lilli and Thomas are wonderful and very helpful. We had the chance to get a massage from Lilli and I also got a facial from her at her private clinic. Don't miss it! Book it in advance if you can! She is fantastic! 2 suggestions: you will need to rent a suv ( anywhere in costa rica its preferable anyway) and if you are the type that wakes up easily, in costa rica you will need ear plugs. We slept in 3 different places during our 2 weeks and i needed them. The nature is at your doorstep.
This treehouse is perfect start for a trip in Costa Rica. Unforgettable!!!
It is like living in your own private tropical garden.
Only a short nice walk away from Quepos and this little hike has a bit of interesting history.
The host Thomas is very interesting, warm person and extremely helpfull.
The treehouse - an experience once in a lifetime, despite I really hope to come back. On the day of our arrival, we headed up Quepos later than expected - even though Thomas came down to town, welcomed us really friendly and showed us the way to our new accomondation. While entering the treehouse, the incredible charme of the house, totally catched us. It was exactly as we imagined and even excelled our expectations. The sounds you are hearing (jungle sound is the best sound to fall asleep and wake up), the animals you will spot (we had 3 of the 4 kinds of the costa Rican Monkeys just in Front of the balkony, plenty of beautiful brids, geckos and so on) and all the nature you can feel - made it definitly to a Perfect stay!
The treehouse is really well equipped and has everything you will need!
One Day Thomas also helped us organizing a line Zipping tour - which was incredible!
Thank you so much!
Amazing experience, just like going to bed every night in a national park. Howlers, squirrel monkeys, an iguana, geckos, and a very friendly motmot. I will recommend the experience to anyone heading to Quepos area. Perfect way to spend the last week of our honeymoon in Costa Rica, relaxing in a treehouse!
