Getting around

The property is about 15 minutes walking or 3 minutes by car/taxi from downtown Quepos. From there, you have a frequent bus service (every 15 minutes, 60 cents/ride) to the beach and National Park Manuel Antonio. The drive takes about 10 minutes, also by car (parking along the beach or at the entrance of the NP)

Closest airport is San Jose (SJO), with several options for transportation to Quepos:

SANSA AND NATURE AIR are the two local airlines, taking you to Quepos or back to San Jose, the flight is 25 minutes, the ticket cost $ 75.-/pax one way. Both airlines can be found in the web and tickets can be easy purchased online.

INTERBUS AND GRAYLINE: shuttle service with several pick up and drop off locations.

The other option is a van transportation, pick up at the airport upon your arrival and drop off at the Tree House. Like that you can already enjoy your drive from the Central Valley to the Pacific Coast.

VAN TRANSPORTATION: door to door service (any time day or night)
Ask us for the current price.

You can, of course, also rent a vehicle and drive by yourself, but I can always see the guests arriving very exhausted. For your individual transportation then in Manuel Antonio, there are several rental car companies with similar cars and prices:

Thrifty, Hertz, Alamo, Adobe, Budget, Toyota, Economy, National

  • The treehouse was awesome! We spent seven nights and had a great time. Squirrel Monkeys on the porch every morning. The house is close to town and to other houses, but seems very secluded due to its location in the forest. Great place for a couple's getaway!

  • I had a great time in the treehouse and I highly recommend everyone should have an accommodation once in Costa Rica! Thanks Thomas for this experience!

  • We spent our Honeymoon at Thomas and Lili's tree house and it was quite an adventure! What a view and we made some great (monkey) friends every morning at 6am! If you don't like bugs or lizards its probably not the place for you, although I have to say I'm not very fond of bugs myself and it only took me like 2 days to get used to being so close to nature. It was worth it to be so secluded and have some alone time with my new husband. While we didn't necessarily need the internet this vacation, don't expect the wifi in the tree house to really work. So if you need access to internet, find somewhere else to stay because it maybe worked for us once during our 6 day stay. Hazel who set up our tours and picked us up was very helpful and very sweet. Having a pool all to ourselves was probably my favorite part. We enjoyed being able to cool down after a long walk up the hill or before bed. Overall we really enjoyed our stay in the tree house, it was the exact kind of adventure we were looking for when we booked our honeymoon!!! Pura Vida!

  • My wife and I had a great time staying at the treehouse for our honeymoon! Thomas was a great host! Even in the "off" season Costa Rica is beautiful and the beaches are much less crowded. You will see monkeys on the porch nearly every day. We didn't rent a car and instead walked down to Quepos or got a taxi. Not a terrible walk, but you will be sweating pretty well if you choose to walk. If you have the time, do the Quepos Canyoning tour that Thomas organizes, definitely worth it!

A couple of things to note, first, don't plan on doing too much with the wifi. We were able to send emails and iMessages, but not a lot more than that. Second, we took the public bus back to San Jose for our flight home and it was very affordable and nice. Don't be afraid to use it.

Overall, it was a wonderful trip and we'd go back in a heartbeat!

  • We were able to stay at the Treehouse for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The treehouse is just as beautiful as pictured, very clean and the wildlife is incredible (early morning wakeup calls from the monkeys)! You are truly one with nature while staying in the treehouse. Thomas and Lili were great hosts, available for any questions and always a very prompt reply. You will thoroughly enjoy your stay!

My wife got a relaxation massage from Lili which she thoroughly enjoyed. We also had the opportunity to stay one night at Thomas & Lili's other listing Villa Malinche which was simply amazing. Hope to return in the future!

  • Amazing!!!!! I would recommend the tree house to anyone. So peaceful and relaxing. We got to see some monkeys playing on our balcony twice during our stay. And nothing beats the amazing jungle noises at night! Thomas was also very helpful in organizing all our activities and even made sure we were having an amazing time. We will definitely be back!!! Thanks!!!

  • Best place ever! It's a paradise. I saw many monkeys who were with me on the porch. I'll go back for sure!

  • Tree house was really amazing, in the middle of lush rainforest just as you see on the pictures. There is a huge and comfortable bed, a fridge and very well equipped kitchen. The swimming pool is a perfect place to cool down and relax over day and it's very romantic by night with all those lights around and stuff, so be sure to check it out over night as well.

We've seen a lot of birds, iguanas, white faced monkeys, they had an early morning wake up performance. I also have to mention that we had some animals inside the tree house as well, like spiders snakes, lizards crabs etc.. They were not aggressive unless you try to catch them, but just be prepared.

The road to Quepos was one of the worst I've seen in Costa Rica, but I also liked the hike and an opportunity to see some other kind of wildlife. However my fiance was not so happy to walk back so we tried to find a cab, but the road is very bad, and many cab drivers are not willing to go there. Again I find this interesting but if you don't like to walk, renting a car would be the solution.

Thomas arranged an excursion to Manuel Antonio, and we went with the guy who's name is Henry, and that was an awesome day, I highly recommend him. He was very knowledgeable and totally worth the money.

One disappointment that we had, (totally not Thomas's fault, but wanted to mention) are the prices in Quepos. We've been 3 months in US before traveling to Costa Rica, and the food and basic stuff is the same price or even more expensive than in the US.

Overall it's an experience that we will never forget, that is for sure. Thomas's place is highly recommended just be careful you're really in the middle of the jungle! Pura Vida!

  • Another review to add to the glowing reviews for Thomas' treehouse. We had an amazing 5 days with the sloths, whitefaced monkeys, iguanas, land crabs, birds and more.

The tree house is absolutely charming. It is clean, comfortable and like living in a storybook. The bed is comfortable and the hammock was heavenly. The pool was a beautiful space and a great way to cool down.

It was an enjoyable walk to Quepos to get groceries either in the stores or at the market. The people are friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere is Pura Vida. The walk back was a bit more adventurous, but if we didn't feel up to it it was always easy to grab a cab.

Thomas was a very accommodating host and always available when needed. I had very high expectations for this trip and was worried my expectations were too high and I would be disappointed- but I wasn' the least.

Thanks Thomas for sharing your piece of paradise.

  • Hey now! The treehouse experience is one of a kind! It was like camping in the canopy. The monkeys were on the railing and playing in the trees and we had a mother sloth and her baby hanging from a branch right outside the balcony which was a very special animal experience. The place has everything you need. The pool is great to have at the end of the day or even just to hang at for a relaxing day. Tom was very helpful when we had questions or needed anything. We didn't have a vehicle but if you do get one a 4x4 is recommended. Enrique was our taxi man and he was awesome. Even helped us do some shopping and was Johnny on the spot when we called for a ride. Whatever you do please book this place and experience the real Costa Rica.

Moved from Switzerland 15 years ago, just love it here! The people are "pura vida", life is so easy, the climate is very healthy! Very lucky to have purchased a big piece of property in the Playa Macha area, declared as green area, where I offer the Tree House and Villa Malinche. It's almost like the National Park, lot's of wildlife and very peaceful, surrounded by lush rain forest! My wife Lili is a licensed physic therapist, also with a great dedication for massage treatments, she can make you feel in heaven.... Don't miss an in-home treatment during your stay! We are happy to share this relaxed jungle feeling on our property with the people we meet through Airbnb. Just lay back in the hammocks, taste the famous coffee and watch the monkeys fly by...
