Darryl's house is beautiful, spacious and comfortable. Great location if you're looking for a quiet, peaceful neighborhood that's just down the road from all the action. His instructions on checking in were very easy to follow, and was generous in offering us access to whatever is in the house. It was a last-minute booking, and the place was still spotless and Darryl was communicative and accommodating.
The house was beautiful! Very spacious and nicely decorated, it was actually even nicer than I expected based on the pictures listed. The host gave very detailed instructions on how to get into the house and was very flexible and accommodating with our arrival time.
Neighborhood was very convenient - close to wineries, hot air balloon rides, restaurants.
The light in the main bedroom was broken when we arrived, but other than that everything else was in great condition. Thanks for a wonderful stay!
The house was great! I was worried when I had read some of the prior reviews but them I called Darryl and voiced my concerns and all was good, clean, and functional when we got there. Just read the note on the fridge to figure out how everything works - the bathroom shower upstairs for example does function, it's just that the handle needs to be pulled really hard.
The house was very comfortable and it was easy to access things from there. It was nice to have fireplaces and a jacuzzi though we didn't use the jacuzzi.
Make sure you communicate with Darryl beforehand on how to access the lockbox. He had texted it to me beforehand but accidentally to the wrong number so I was trying to get a hold of him 15 min before we showed up. All turned out just fine though. Very straightforward once you get the code.
Beautiful home, and it was a great location for all the wineries i wanted to visit. Darryl was very accommodating especially for some requests i had day of. I highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in napa
The house was very nice. It was conveniently located near several shopping areas and wineries. It was very clean and the beds were comfortable. The layout of the house was great for our four kids. The backyard was nice for the kids to play outside. The "house rules" were very reasonable and the house was stocked with towels, paper products, dishes, etc. Overall, a place we would stay again.
The house is situated in a convenient location. It's no more than a 4 minute drive from Safeway, target, & many other stores. It's also a hop, jump and a skip away from the wineries. The house was a lot more spacious than I thought it would be. It accommodated our 8 guests very nicely and could definitely fit more people. There were some quirks around the house that were interesting. The back of the home does face a mobile home park and the fence is so short that it doesn't allow for any privacy. We didn't get to touch the jacuzzi (mostly because no one brought their swimsuit, but also because it was not clean) so the privacy wasn't too big of an issue. However, you can see directly into the home. We did hang out outside quite a bit. Hopefully, when the next set of guests arrive there will be patio furniture. The house was in good condition (older features with some upgrades). The carpet was rather dirty, there was a nice sized hole in the living room wall, guest bathroom shower was broken, the cold water in the master bathroom sink closest to the toilet wasn't working, the oven was ridiculously dirty (not something that happens overnight) with plastic somehow left in there, and the Bose system wasn't connected. Despite all of this, all 8 ladies enjoyed the house very much and was able to overlook these issues. Darryl was a wonderful host and I would recommend his home to anyone looking for space and
easy access to the wineries.
I will say that the house is very conveniently located (super close to Yountville and Napa), large, and pretty, as described in the other reviews, and Darryl is a friendly, helpful host. But my honest review is only 3 stars for the following reasons: First, we paid more than the advertised price on airbnb. When I plugged in my dates on the airbnb website (a Saturday through Monday in January), the website said the final price was $1200, but Darryl informed me that because of the mix of weekends and weeknights, he would have to charge a higher rate, so we ended up paying $1437. I was a little surprised by this because I've used airbnb before several times and never had to pay more than the price listed on the website. But ultimately, we were ok with the price because the place was quite large and still cheaper than many hotels. The second problem was that there were several plumbing issues. On arrival, we walked in to a pretty big pool of water on the kitchen floor, apparently from the broken dishwasher, and the water continued to drip throughout the weekend, making it difficult to use the kitchen sink. Also, when we got there, the downstairs bathroom sink was clogged, the downstairs toilet wouldn't flush, and the upstairs shower broke on the first use. Darryl was very responsive to these issues when we called him, but because we were only there for the weekend, the issues weren't fixed during our stay. So our group of 6 was left with one functioning shower and 2 functioning toilets to share for the weekend. Not ideal, but we still had a good time. The final issue was that there was also a dead Christmas tree left in the house that did not smell great, and although the house was pretty clean on the surface, places like under the couch cushions (where we looked because we thought there was a pull-out bed), under the beds, and in corners had not been cleaned very well. In short, I would say the house is a good value and good for those who want to be near Yountville, but the high expectations set by the other reviews should maybe be a little tempered :)
