About this listing
This gorgeous, warm, sun-filled gem of a home offers a 3 bedroom, 2 and ½ bath retreat both inside and out. Upon entering the foyer, you will be embraced by the unique qualities of the Craftsman style: spaciousness, comfort and beauty.
The home is enveloped in an abundance of greenery and a profusion of flowers seen from each window and is easily accessed from the French doors off the master bedroom and off the kitchen nook as well. In the lush garden, you will have your own tiny pond with a fountain! A sweet table for two awaits you under the fig tree and a patio set for four peaks from under a vine-covered trellis. At night, relax in the lounging areas amidst books, while sipping tea, playing the baby grand piano or admiring the beautiful art and sculptures as you cozy next to the fireplace.
You will enjoy a good night’s sleep in the Master bedroom on the queen bed and appreciate the large, ADA accessible bathroom, plush towels and accompanying toiletries.
The adjacent, private room has a twin sleeper sofa and a desk, if you should need one.
The upstairs bedroom windows frame verdant, bird-filled trees on three sides, has a super-comfortable queen-size bed and its own bathroom and shower.
For your convenience, you will find yet another ½ bath between the kitchen and the downstairs bedrooms, as well as laundry facilities.
The kitchen will delight any chef with its stainless steel appliances, oversized fridge, gas stove, dishwasher and beautiful countertops. You will have all the amenities to create a sensational meal from the nearby farmer’s market, walk-to grocery store and French Bakery. Spices and oils nestle next to your coffee and tea assortment.
If you’d rather, a plethora of ethnic restaurants may be your evening’s walking destination. You might have to bid adieu to the deer nibbling on the gardens on our serene street as you may want to explore the coffee shops, boutique stores, beauty services and clothing stores lining Solano Avenue.
If you’d rather leave your car at the house, or don’t have one, you’ll want to jump on the bus to Downtown Berkeley or BART. It’s quite easy to get to San Francisco without a car. If you’d like to explore the Redwoods at Muir Woods, the wineries of Napa or Sonoma, the galleries of Sausalito, the vibrant Oakland or the beaches of Santa Cruz, you are in the perfect location.
ABSOLUTELY NO PARTIES or GATHERINGS. FOR THE PROTECTION OF OUR GUESTS AND HOME, EXTERNAL CAMERAS AND MONITORS HAVE BEEN INSTALLED FOR EXTRA SECURITY MEASURES.
We have a baby grand piano, and a working fireplace, although there are occasional “spare the air” days when wood fires are not allowed in the Bay Area. There is one small television with cable, located in the kitchen eating area.
Interaction with Guests
We will interact as much or as little as the guests would like.
Even though it’s a serene, quiet street, it’s easy to walk to so many great restaurants and services on Solano Avenue – post office, coffee shops, bakeries, grocery stores, clothing stores, beauty services, and many, many restaurants. Birds and squirrels are in abundance around the property, and it’s not unusual to see deer nibbling the gardens up and down our short street!
It is a short walk to Solano Avenue for handy public transportation as well. The AC Transit bus #18 runs every 15 minutes, either to downtown Berkeley and the Berkeley BART Station, or to El Cerrito and the El Cerrito BART Station or shopping center, where you will find a Trader Joe’s. The #25 bus and the #7 bus also go to downtown Berkeley and BART, but with less frequency. (Check AC Transit on-line for schedules.) It’s very easy to get to San Francisco without a car.
Other Things to Note
Many ethnic restaurants abound within walking distance, some casual and inexpensive and some higher end. I recommend Ajanta or Khana Peena for Indian food, Troy for Greek or Mediterranean, Kirin for unusual Chinese food, Vanessa’s for Vietnamese, Sweet Basil for Thai, Rivoli for more continental food and for a special occasion.
We are the folks from Book A Nook, a relational property management outfit. We love to meet and nurture our guests and provide a stellar experience, which is why so many of our guests return!

Also, our neighborhood is pretty quiet, so we ask that you are mindful between 10PM -8AM. ABSOLUTELY NO PARTIES or GATHERINGS. A very nice house in Berkeley, close to it all: San Francisco, Napa valley, bay area. The house is big enough for a family and has a nice little garden. We were welcomed with a great variation of snacks. Limor was very responsive and nice. I would certaibly recommend this house and host.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at Martha and Jay's beautiful home in Berkeley. Limor and the team at Book a Nook were extremely helpful and communicative leading up to our stay. All went exactly as planned upon arrival and we were greeted with some nice treats. You'll feel right at home and the house itself suited our family of five well (adults in master BR downstairs, oldest in 2nd 1st floor bedroom and 2 younger boys sharing upstairs bedroom. Kitchen is fully equipped and backyard provides a fun and peaceful oasis. Parking on street is easy (even when they were doing construction as they were when we were there). Easy walk to Starbucks or Peets on Solano. Highly recommend.
Wonderful hospitality! We arrived to a welcome note, treats, and breakfast! The home is beautiful. Peaceful neighborhood, parking on street (no restrictions). The backyard has a deck to sit, view birds and admire gorgeous flowers. Walking distance to Solano Ave. to get coffee, eat out, grocery shop, and go into little stores. Nice to be out of the crowds around UC Berkeley but very easy to get to the university.
It was an extremely enjoyable and memorable stay at a very charming house. We drove down from Seattle to spend Thanksgiving with our daughter & son and their boy/girl friend; both of whom are attending graduate school at UC Berkeley. Some very nice touches upon our arrival include an elegant Thanksgiving dinner table setting for six with china, silver ware, cloth napkins, candles, and a center piece of persimmons picked from a tree in the backyard. On the kitchen counter was a fruit bowl with apples & tangelos, truffles, coffee, and sweet cinnamon pull-aparts. This really came in handy and provided some nice refreshments after our long drive.
The kitchen was well stocked with all the pots/pans and utensils and everything else that we needed to prepare a turkey and some side dishes. The Thanksgiving meal was a smashing success as we enjoyed family time and sitting down for a feast together. The backyard garden with the pond and birds munching on the seeds in the feeders provided very pleasing and relaxing views.
We enjoyed the peacefulness and quiet of the neighborhood. Only a short walk away (10-15 minutes) are a number of nice eating places on Solano to meet any palate.
Our host had left some nice food stuffs for us in the kitchen as a welcome -- a nice touch of hospitality.
The listing description was completely accurate -- the photos were true-to-life.
The neighborhood was quiet and close to everything -- easy access to freeways for getting around bay area.
Altogether, just terrific -- thanks, Limor!

Lovely and very comfortable house for our family in a convenient, walk-to-shopping neighborhood. We love to cook so especially appreciated the well-appointed kitchen with high quality pans & knives. We also loved the backyard for bird-watching and morning coffee! Limor was very attentive and handled some minor problems extremely efficiently. Would absolutely stay here again on our next visit to the Bay Area.
