Iona is located close to DE Turf and the Delaware beaches. The Inn looks out over Cedar Creek, a pristine estuary leading to Delaware Bay. This vista provides many stunning sunrises and sunsets. Since Iona is a working farm, the front of the house looks out over the barn, pastures, and fields. The front porch and second-floor balcony provide perfect viewing to enjoy the early morning scenery with your first cup of coffee and breakfast provided to all guests.
Iona is a non-smoking property.

The space
Iona Stables and Inn is on a 35-acre farm east of Rt 1, at a little crossroads called Argo's Corner. We are situated 3 miles south of Milford, DE. It is just 3 miles to Delaware Bay and 16 miles to the Ocean at Cape Henlopen State Park. The Lewes, Rehoboth, Tanger Outlets, and other Delaware beaches and State Parks are all located just south of us along the Rt 1 corridor. The Inn is located 1 mile south of the new Bayhealth Medical Center and 9 miles south of the DE Turf Sports Complex.

To enhance the safety of all our guests at Iona Stables and Inn, we have installed UV light on all the air handlers that service the house. That means approximately every 10 minutes, all the inside air is disinfected from bacteria, viruses, and mold particles. The UV lights are in addition to the MERV 13 filter cartridges we use in all our air handlers. Just another way we strive to make your stay at Iona Inn a comfortable stay.

Here's what the UV lights accomplish.

Most indoor air quality products merely trap pollutants, but Swordfish (the manufacturer) kills molds, viruses, and fungus in indoor air. Swordfish UV Air Treatment systems use proven technology and expose your recirculated indoor air to UVC light which kills/deactivates micro-organisms and sanitizes your air.

Iona Stables and B&B is a 35 acre working horse farm. We both love the land and the solitude and peace Iona provides to the soul. This land has been in Robert’s family since the 1880’s, being purchased by his great grandfather when he married. The crossroads where Iona is located is called Argo’s Corner after my mother’s family. We moved to the land and built our house in 2003, the estate name of Iona, which is taken from and island off the coast of Ireland. Iona in Ireland, was the center for spiritual renewal for over 100 years have been founded by St. Columba. It is our desire that our Iona is also a place for rest, renewal and spiritual awakening to all who who enjoy our home. Our home is furnished with many of our families heirlooms. The bedroom suit in our upstairs guest room was the made in 1830 and was the part of the furniture that the great granddaughter of Thomas Muncy that she started housekeeping with after she was married. The bedroom suit in our main downstairs guest room was the original bedroom suit of Robert’s Aunt Doris. While staying at Iona you are welcome to use any of the outside porches and decks, as well as walk along the paths that go through the woods, along the creek and around the pond. You are also, if so inclined to walk through the stables and enjoy the horses. We also had a very friendly springer spaniel name Chip. Iona is situated three miles from the Delaware Bay and fifteen miles form the Atlantic Ocean. Cedar Creek runs along the back of our property and is a great place for kayaking if you have a kayak. We do have a canoe that guest are welcome you use. The Cedar Creek estuary is a pristine waterway that has not been crowded by developments. It is also a great spot for both salt and fresh water fishing. There is a public boat launch to the Delaware bay about four miles form our home. The Atlantic Ocean is a thirty minutes by boat from the launch. We have parking at Iona for boat and trailer. While at Iona you can enjoy the many State parks in Sussex and Kent counties, as well as the beaches. Rehoboth offers many tax free shopping outlets, which makes Iona a great pre-Christmas place to stay as you do your Christmas shopping. You can catch all the deals and come back to the quite seclusion of Iona. We are also are located just twenty minutes from the Harrington Casino and Fair Grounds. For those that use the fair ground facilities for horse shows and competition and well as other agricultural activities Iona offer the perfect place to stay while you’re in town. We offer onsite parking for horse trailers and can offer accommodation for your horse. This requires special arrangements, horse paperwork along with extra charges. We are also located five minutes from the new Milford Bayhealth Complex. For those needing overnight accomonidations while family members are in the hospital, we offer one night or multiple night stays. We also offer extended stays for hospital staff that are working short term contracts. We are just nine miles south of the DelTurf Sports Complex. We are located just off of Route 1 so it is a straight shot up the road to the facility. In the afternoon the front porch and it’s rockers will suck you into their tranquil atmosphere as you enjoy the scenic view. While you’re here you will not want to miss a morning sunrise over the fields and pastures from the front porch. In the evening the sunsets can be brilliant from the back porch over looking Cedar Creek. To the guest staying in our downstairs rooms you can enjoy the sunrise from your bed. To those staying in our upstairs room you can enjoy the sunset from your room and you can enjoy the sunrise from the upstairs balcony. The upstairs balcony is a shared area to all guest and the family. While you with us there is space in the one of the two refrigerators that you can use. If you are with us for more than three days I You will be provided fresh towels and wash clothes. If you are with us for a week you arrangements can be made to do laundry. Linda and Robert look forward to sharing their blessing of Iona with you.
