About this listing
a modern 2,800 sq. ft. House in a rural setting, next to a large cattle / horse ranch, very quiet, great hiking, fishing and X-C skiing in the area...but only 2 minutes from a small town with good shopping and everything else... 5 minute walk to a restaurant, 10 minutes to a beautiful park with a waterfall... Wifi, great hosts, private bathroom, horse boarding. Breakfast is Linda's organic granola, organic yogurt, home canned fruit, blueberry jam and espresso/cappuccino. We XC ski, mountain bike, ride horses, hike, explore, kayak, canoe our creek, bird watch, and garden... life is good!
We are a working couple so no late nights... and pets must be house trained and not allowed on furniture or beds.
We had a wonderful overnight stay at Don and Linda's. The area was lovely, and the house was conveniently positioned within a walking distance of the town. Don and Linda (and Penny their dog!) were great hosts, they were really accommodating and gave us great recommendations of things to do in the local area. Their organic breakfast was also really delicious. The Ranch House is far superior to any standard b&b!! Thank you.
Don and Linda are warm and welcoming. The location is very convenient to town. The surroundings are beautiful.
Don and Linda were super friendly. They had everything ready for us from clean towels, extra blankets, and extremely yummy breakfasts in the morning. They showed us on a map which routes to take for hiking and even got their canoe ready for us, so that we could go paddling in the creek.
It was definitely one of the most relaxing vacations I've ever had.
If you find yourself in need of a place to stay in 100 mile and you're thinking of booking a night or two.. my advice is that you go ahead and book it....we did and couldn't be happier about doing so. Don and Linda are amazing people, they are down to earth and we loved every minute of our evening with them. Awesome place...so convient!
Don & Linda were the finest hosts! They have a lovely quiet home on the edge of town with a comfy bed and full bath. I spent 2 nights and might spend another on my way home. My second afternoon Don took me on a tour of the ranch/grass-farm he manages and told me the history of its ownership and gradual transition to an impressive example of land stewardship ((website hidden)). We shared a delicious meal on my second night and found a wide variety of common interests to talk about. Someday I hope I can return with my wife to visit them again.
We felt very welcomed in Don & Linda's lovely home. They are a warm, gentle couple who have led interesting, unique lives -- we greatly enjoyed our conversations with them. Penny (the dog) was lovely. Our accommodations were very comfortable, clean, and private. Delicious breakfast with wonderful home roasted, freshly ground coffee ... yum! Would definitely stay again if we are in the area ... thank you! August 2013
We loved staying with Don and Linda! They were friendly, and so easy to get along with! We had wonderful conversations with them and enjoyed spending the evening eating and chatting. Their home is very comfortable and we would stay with them again any time we get to One Hundred Mile House.
About the Host, Don /Linda
Our home is a small farm, 35 acres, with Belted Galloway cows and a flock of sheep in the BC Interior. I am the Manager of a nearby Organic Cattle Ranch and my wife is retired. A very kind and obedient Golden Retriever helps us. We love to backpack to other places: Thailand, China, New Zealand and South America as well as explore beautiful BC. We can help you connect with the local scene if you're looking for activities and adventure.
