James was a really good host! The location of the apartment was great, walking distance to the subway and very close to downtown either 2 stops by subway or by cab (less than 10 minutes). The apartment was big and comfortable, and we enjoyed the building a lot because of the gym, sauna, jacuzzi, and pool. My friends and me would recommend this place to anyone!
We had a wonderful week at James' beautiful apartment. The view was all we had hoped for - we could have looked out those windows 24/7! The apartment was warm and cosy and very comfortable and it's position close to the skytrain and major access roads into the city made it ideal. Provision of a parking space was also much appreciated. Many thanks to both Rosie and James for ensuring our stay in Vancouver was just about perfect!
Location, accommodations, and view were superb. We hosted a US Thanksgiving away from home for a group of friends and were able to entertain comfortably. I would highly recommend this listing if you're looking to sleep 4-6 people (couples or people who don't mind sharing beds/sleeping on the couch). Dog friendly, and close to a nice park.
The view is not worth it! The noise from the Skytrain kept us awake most nights. The train runs every 3 minutes from 6:30 am to 2am.
No air conditioning, so if the weather is warm, you don't sleep because of the noise! The owner also double booked our last night there. The people left in charge moved our things onto the kitchen floor, so the 6 new renters could have the bedrooms. This was unacceptable!!!! No one should have touched laptop, cameras, suitcases, etc without our permission and then to just leave everything out on the kitchen floor. Totally unprofessional!!!! An apology is not enough! AIrbnb was very professional and cared about our well being, unlike our host.
We chose to stay in this apartment for three reasons--great location, great view, and it slept six, (although the third bedroom has no privacy). We also appreciated the opportunity to use the bicycles, although there was only one helmet for the two bikes. It was clearly someone's apartment, as opposed to an accommodation, and for the price, it would have been nice to have a tv that was not fussy to operate, and curtains that would actually close without missing parts, and perhaps some suggestions about local restaurants. I will say that Su, his property manager in his absence was wonderful--very responsive and helpful--and we enjoyed the pool and spa facilities, so overall it was a pleasant stay.
We had a nice stay in this apartment. GREAT location in the city centre and an even more amazing view over the city. Warm apartment with all needed things there. Nevertheless, the apartment is affected by the frequent rental (doors that are loose, curtains that are broken, loose door handles, windows that can't properly close, etc). The apartment has two very nice bedrooms with good beds, the third one is less suitable for multiple nights sleep (fold-out-bed, glass see-through door to the livingroom, non darkening curtains etc).
This was a really fabulous, wonderful apartment. This was the first time I've ever used airbnb.com, and it worked out really well. It was a bit of an adjustment to realize that we were staying in someone else's home that was actually lived in versus staying in a hotel or a vacation home, but it had so many accommodations that we barely even noticed.
We were half a block from the Skytrain Station, and only two stops away took us to the main hub and shopping areas of Granville Street. A few times there were three of us who needed to head back to the apartment, and it was about the same price for all three of us to share a taxi ($10 CAD with tip) versus the Skytrain fee ($2.75 CAD for one trip per person). I took the bus one morning to squeeze in a barre workout in Yaletown, and it took about 7 minutes to get there (the bus was also pricey). What a fashionable, fun, boutiquey little area Yaletown is. It was adorable, and I wish we spent more time there.
We walked to a club in Gastown one evening, and while it was cold, it wasn't too far for a walk. We were very close to Chinatown, but never made it there for dinner. We stopped at a billiards spot a few blocks up, and the neighborhood was a little sketchy walking just the two of us late at night, but I felt no worries when we had more of a crowd with us. There is a Starbucks and Subway on the same block as the apartment, too.
The view was incredible, both at night and during the day. The spa and hot tub were in full working order, and it was open 24 hours. We went down there anywhere from 10pm to 3am, and we never had a problem with the hours we swam, nor did anyone complain about the music. There were five adults who stayed in this apartment: my husband and I shared the master bedroom/bathroom, two adults shared the other bedroom, and another adult slept in the office/guest room (which was more like a music room with a folding bed that didn't have much privacy due to glass french doors separating the room from the dining room), but our friend didn't seem to mind.
We had a few people stop by the apartment to hang out before we'd go out at night, and all of our Vancouver-local friends raved about the location and the view.
There were a few quirky things about the apartment that made us realize someone lived there -- the toilet handle snapped and the patio doors broke, but James was SO quick to respond to every request, even though he was in Thailand in a completely different time zone. He was a pleasure to "work" with, and I wouldn't dream of staying anywhere else when we return to Vancouver in the future.
Our family of six had a wonderful time here. The spacious home has a beautiful view of False Creek. The night skyline was gorgeous. The home is in a good location, with accessible transportation via Skytrain, bus and ferry. The kitchen is modern and well-equipped. The walls are lined with artwork from around the world, and the whole home has an elegant, but relaxing feel to it. The beds were comfortable (albeit the 3rd bedroom's murphy bed was a little squeaky) and it was wonderful to lounge by the fire enjoying the view, playing on the Internet, watching movies and being together as a family. We were sad to leave.
This is a perfect place to stay if you are traveling for business. It is quiet, convenient, has parking, laundry in unit, wifi, three bedrooms and is in a safe area.
"Fabulous" is indeed the only word to describe the view from James' apartment. While staying here, one is provided a constant 180 degree view of downtown Vancouver and False Creek. The view is so flawless, I literally picked up a postcard that looked as if it had been taken from our unit. Between this, the fireplace and some good music, my business associates and I rarely left the apartment on our days off.
I stayed in this three bedroom apartment with two of my business associates for three weeks and we were very happy with the experience. It was a highly convenient location that was only a 10 minute walk to downtown and a similar walk to Main St. in South Vancouver. There is also a Subway Sandwich Store on the same block and a nice, new grocery store called Urban Fare 3 blocks away. Or favorite place that we found was a pizza place called Pizzeria Farina a couple blocks away. It was so good we went three times during our stay. I highly recommend checking it out if you stay in Vancouver. Just make sure you go before 8:30pm or so, as they close as soon as they sell out of dough (which happens quite fast).
Though he was abroad traveling, James was very responsive via email regarding any and all questions that I had. He even went beyond my questions, suggesting local video stores and how to use his TV and very nice Bose speakers.
Thank you James for the stay!
The place was great, and the view fabulous!!! Jamie came to meet us and kindly showed us the building facilities. We were 6 adults (3 couples) and we had an amazing time there!
