The Space

There are two rooms with queen size beds, the larger one facing the street (Great Western Hwy) the smaller one is a bit quieter with a view of the pond in the back yard. There is another street view room with two single beds.

The house is less than 5 minutes walk from Leura village, station & bus stop, Marsden Lodge was built in the 1930s in the Streamline Moderne/Art Deco Style. It has recently been sympathetically renovated to reflect the era with a few modern touches for extra comfort.
Large lounge room with real log fire, HD TV with media player.
Use of large sunny eat-in kitchen with Espresso coffee machine.
Original Art Deco bathroom with separate shower, deep bath.
Laundry with indoor and outdoor drying.

Guests have full access to the kitchen, lounge room, foyer, laundry and yard. Please note, the flat has one bathroom and one toilet only.

Interaction with Guests

We have moved away from Leura but I am always available via phone or email to help make your stay more comfortable. My friend Winston lives in our old place, the flat downstairs, he works but he's always happy to help sort out any issues you may have when he is home.

The Neighborhood

Great scenery, bushwalking, restaurants and unique shops and galleries. Go to Woolworths Supermarket for supplies, it is open from 7am-10pm 7 days a week.

Getting around

The train station and bus stop is less than 5 minutes walk from the house.

Check In
  • Pros:
    -Nice fireplace

-Had to climb 2 flights of stairs to get to apartment
-Dusty and spiderwebs behind the bed frames
-Electricity tripped a few times each night and hence, had no heater for all 3 nights.
-Limited hot water supply. Ran out of hot water after a few people bathed.

  • As a person passionate about Art Deco I believe Leny has added the right amount of taste and style to the original design of the apartment. We enjoyed the location and how spacious it was for 4 adults and one little pug. It was really great to have our pup able to stay with us!! Our only hiccup was that it was quite dusty which was sad since the furniture is great.. but it may be I am a bit of a clean nut. However with that said Leny was great at communication and a pleasant person to deal with.

  • Had a lovely stay - and Leny was kind enough to take our last minute booking with a prompt response. The decor was lovely and fireplace perfect - we really enjoyed eating in the sunroom and playing board games in the living room. Leny even left breakfast foods for us to enjoy. It was a great base for us to enjoy the Leura Gardens Festival.

    Thanks for a great stay!

  • Our stay at Leny's place was very enjpyable. The apartmemt is unique & is only a short stroll to all the wonderful cafes & shops of Leura. Leny was a very helpful & friendly host & we recommend her apartment to anyone looking for a special place to stay in the mountains.

  • Beautiful home in a stellar location. Artistic decor, tons of natural light, and a cozy den w/ wood burning fireplace. It was perfect for the 5 of us to stay in the Blue Mountains. Walking distance to all the shops and restaurants in Leura, a quick drive to Echo point, and just off the highway for easy traveling. Leny was communicative and helpful throughout the process, and based on the guestbook in her den it is clear she has had many satisfied customers. Thanks Leny!

I went to too many to mention here.
My sister Ned and I brought a beautiful art deco duplex back to its former glory in Leura and now we've moved to Campbell Town in Tasmania, this time it is art nouveau/art and crafts. I drive people mad constantly searching for our next project/adventure and find it very hard to settle down. We are working towards accepting airbnb guests in our house here in Tassie but for the moment it is just Leura. We spent over 3 years in Japan and two Summers in Ireland and twenty years ago we backpacked and hitch hiked around Asia and Europe with my infant son, Akira, who is now 25yo and also an airbnb host in West End in Brisbane. These experiences have made a huge impact on my life. I believe that we should look after the planet and that Australia is plenty big enough to welcome a lot more people from countries less fortunate than ours.
